But as someone pointed out, it doesn't change enough from one year to the next...still, I always get it. Love the NCAA Football games, especially now that they have pretty much got a perfect version of every college stadium and in many cases town. I spent many a day walking around Athens, OH and it blows my mind that not only did they do a perfect version of Peden Stadium they also got all the surrounding buildings correct. The Convocation Center, all the dorms, apartments on the hill. Cool stuff. EA has done a fantastic job with the NHL. 2k really delivered the goods with last years' NBA game.
I used to play the Madden games, but never could win an online game against another player.
What got me was when I would see players with records like- 355 wins, 178 loses or 450 wins, 766 loses.
I would say to myself "do you do anything other than play Madden"? Jeez!!
I don't even know why I pay for X-Box live. Aside from streaming NetFlix because I rarely play games online. Most of the players on there do NOTHING but play video games. I am lucky to get an hour or so per week to devote to gaming, so I can't play Madden, Red Dead, or any other game competitively on-line.
I stopped Xbox live over a year and a half ago. Like you, I wasnt playing it enough to want to pay for it.
I read coming the new year that xbox live is really stepping up with programing other than just playing
video games. But of course, you gotta pay.

Well, that's the other reason I keep it. Even though I'm not much of an online gamer per se, downloadable content, last fm, netflix, etc. Updating rosters on Madden. Just getting rosters for NCAA. I'm a Star Wars geek and there is almost always something extra for those games online. I think I pay in the neighborhood of $60 a year, which really isn't squat, so that is how I rationalize it. My gaming comes in spurts and with the dead of winter looming I can see me putting in some time on a few games and I'll get my $60 worth just in January - February.

Really? Who was it that tried to rival Madden in the late 90's/early 2000's??? Their games were very inferior.
Sony's NFL Gameday. Those were a fucking joke.

I seem to remember another one, because I've never had a Sony system. This would have been on N64 or GameCube.

I always thought the boxing games were good.
I never tried the UFC games though, and I love mma 100 times more than boxing these days.

I used to love the boxing games. Loved having fighters from different eras fighting and what not. I fear the MMA
games would be button mashers. I hate button mashers.

MMA button mashing, that's why I have stayed away as well.
I love in the boxing games how the graphics of the cuts, bruises, etc etc are very defined &
gets worse as fight goes on. The controls are always clean as well, although my thumb would
always get sore.
The only lame aspect of the games were the training sessions inbetween fights. Tedious & boring.
Boxing games were one of the few sports online games that I could win. All the others, not
a chance.

Boxing is one game where I still go old school and bust out Punch Out on the Wii!

I had the second NFL2K1 on dreamcast (pirated of course), and a couple of years later I wanted to upgrade so I bought Madden 2004 for my new PS2 and I couldn't believe the graphics. Madden looked like shit in comparison and that was 3 years later. I haven't played a football game since.

But you guys got me interested in NFL 2k5. I might get it for my (now) old ps2.

That was it! Thought I'd try something different than Madden for the first time since Super Tecmo Bowl and NFL Play Action Football. NFL QB Club...for lack of a better word, sucked.

Ken Griffey Jr baseball was great on the Super nintendo, For some reason the best season I ever had on that was with Mickey Tettleton while playing with detroit, I'd love to see a reboot from the same people only with franchise mode on a modern day system.

Is there any recent game for any console that has an option of using teams of the past?

I'd love to play some 80's baseball similar to the RBI games but with modern graphics.

I now have the Wii(black box).
Don't ask me technical questions about Wii because I know next to nothing
about the system.

From what I have heard, the NFL game(s) for Wii are not very good.

Can anybody offer their own 2 cents?

Compared to what is available on PS3 and Xbox 360, yes. In fact, I don't think Madden or NCAA even bothered with the Wii this year. Wii still has a boatload of very fun, playable, enjoyable games though.

My favorites are NFL, MLB, College Football, & having the original XBOX all these years have kept me from acquiring a Wii until now.
Not sure how much enjoyment I will get from Wii if the sports games are unable to compete with PS3/Xbox 360.

Wii Sports and Wii Sports resort, as well as Mario Kart(s) and Punch Out are fun as hell and are GREAT party games.

The new Zelda game is amazing as well. Wii is a FUN system, but unfortunately it is very antiquated. If you're looking for latest in gameplay technology, PS3/X360 > Wii. Nintendo will always survive though, because they consistently make addictively fun games with characters that are as famous as Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny. Chances are, if Mario is slapped onto a game, it's going to be a fun game. Same with Zelda, Metroid, and a few others. However, the other systems are ten times better for games like Red Dead, Rage, Modern Warfare, Arkham, etc. To me, the ideal set up is a Wii and one of the othe two. IMHO PS3 and X Box 360 are in a tie. Both are great. Another reason to have Wii is because you can download EVERY Nintendo, Sega, or Neo Geo game ever. It's just a cool system to have.

Got this game onsale yesterday for 39 bucks. Its good with great graphics & the rosters are accurate. Bynum cannot play for the first 2 weeks of season because of suspension.
My problem is that while I'm playing online the connection gets cut.
Anybody else have this problem? Or is it my wireless connection?

I never finished all the Jordan challenges on last years 2k11. That's my problem with sports games, I get bored with 'em to quickly. And my connection cuts out all the time.
