Cleveland is admittedly terrible, but they damned near beat Pittsburgh on TNF a few weeks ago. It's a rivalry game, and is almost always close, despite the fact that Rapegirlsandeathamburgers has only lost to the Browns once. My point? Pittsburgh will lose if they start Batch.Machado wrote:The risk is far too great.SkyDog112046 wrote:Rapistberger is going to play against Cleveland on Sunday. If Pittsburgh wins and he doesn't further injure himself and they somehow end up with a 1st or 2nd seed so he gets a bye week it's a good move. But if he gets an additional injury playing against a team with nothing to lose and they still end up with the 5th seed this could end up costing them.
Do you think they should let him play, especially when Batch can give them enough to beat Cleveland?
Let the man rest and allow the #2 QB to play some and maybe get a win.
Most teams want a healthy QB in the playoffs, not in the regular season finale. Especially when that team has already clinched a playoff birth.

I'd take Stafford and Manning over Newton & probably Romo.

Belichick used to keep a savy albeit old, but still capable of playing, back up QB. First it was Flutie, then it was Testaverde. What's his deal on not having a good back up these days. Also, Cassle proved that the Patriots weren't defined entirely by Brady. They won what, 11 games that year?? You'd think Bellichick would have a solid back QB.SkyDog112046 wrote:Of course Brady will play on Sunday. It's against the Bills, he is only 103 yards away from 5000, and they have a chance to get the #1 seed. Not to mention the fact that backup QB Hoyer couldn't beat a Pop Warner team. Belichick doesn't even trust Hoyer to take the kneel downs at the end of a game with a 17 point lead. Brady is playing.

I don't understand Lickety's hangup with Hoyer. He's barely played in the regular season and has looked solid in the pre-season.Tymaster wrote:Belichick used to keep a savy albeit old, but still capable of playing, back up QB. If Drew Bledsoe doesn't get hit so hard his spleen explodes, we have never seen Tom Brady touch a football field. Bill Bellichick cut Bernie Kosar in favor of Vinnie Testaverde and wound up in the playoffs. Bellichick was on the Giants staff when Hostetler lead them to a Super Bowl victory. So you'd think Bill Belichick would appreciate the value of a good back up. Brett Favre was a back up in Atlanta, and was actually brought into Green Bay to back up Don Majkowski. Steve Young backed up Joe Montana. Good back ups are essential. Do I even need to bring up the Colts!?WTF wrote:I don't understand Lickety's hangup with Hoyer. It pains me to fucking say it but Romo is a very good QB. He is excellent at making reads and finding the open guy if he gets a little time.Tenacious_Dio wrote:I agree. The NFC is loaded at QB. The AFC? Not so much.Redman77 wrote:I'd take Stafford and Manning over Newton & probably Romo.
The only thing that troubles me about him is he loses his shit REALLY easily. In every game he's yelling at his receivers, his linemen, his running backs...everybody. Not sure that is gonna work all the time. People are gonna get tired of his bitching.

Brady, Dalton, although I hate him; Rapegirlsandeatcheeseburgers, Manning when he comes back, Rivers, Palmer...there are some good QB's in the AFC.
Re: NFL 2011 Thread
That's my point. You would think a guy who made some smart moves in the past with QBs (Belichick) would have a pretty good idea that Hoyer can do the job if called on.Tymaster wrote: If Drew Bledsoe doesn't get hit so hard his spleen explodes, we have never seen Tom Brady touch a football field. And if not, you'd think he'd be smart enough to sign a back up that could win with the Patriots offense. Garrard is still out there. Delhomme and Garcia were out there til a few weeks ago. Kyle Orton. The list goes on.WTF wrote:That's my point. If you were to list the top 6-7 quarterbacks of 2011, Brady is the only AFC guy who'd make the list.Tymaster wrote: Brady, Dalton, although I hate him; Rapegirlsandeatcheeseburgers, Manning when he comes back, Rivers, Palmer...there are some good QB's in the AFC.

Gerrard's season has been over since very early on in the season. He decided to get surgery done, I guess so he can play better next year. Either that or he's decided he's retired.Tymaster wrote: And if not, you'd think he'd be smart enough to sign a back up that could win with the Patriots offense. Garrard is still out there. Happy new year. Jerry Angelo is a dick and I hope he dies of gonnorhea and burns in hell for not protecting the franchise QB. I hope Johnny Knox has a long career with anyone but the bears. I'm stunned they have five pro bowlers from what will be a seven win team. Rant. Over.

I'm a Browns fan, so I have no dog in the Jets fight, although I did enjoy watching Testaverde nearly get the Jets into the SB about 15 years ago. Anyway, as much as Rex Ryan runs his mouth, I have to laugh whenever they lose. Rex's routine started off as funny, but quickly grew annoying. Now it's just absurd that he is even employed.Tenacious_Dio wrote:Geez, Mark Sanchez. Way to come up small.

Texans showing some balls going for 2 at the end. But I don't think they should have gone for it after the 5 yard penalty. Titans in a good spot to get the $6 seed if Balt beats Cincy.
Patriots get the #1 seed. They came out flat and then put up 49 unanswered points. Brady 5235 yards.
Brees over 5400 yards in a win. He is playing better than Rodgers at this point and has to get serious consideration for MVP.
Jets lose. Sanchez played like shit again. His time as the starting QB has to be coming to an end.
So far a great day of football with so many teams having something to play for.

Re: NFL 2011 Thread
Exhibit A why Tebow will not be the long-term answer at QB for Denver:
Broncos run a flea flicker and Tebow has a receiver wide open on the left sideline and rather than make an easy throw for TD he took off running. Either he didn't see his receiver break open or he knew he couldn't make the throw. Every other starting NFL QB could have made that throw.

KC beats Denver. Crennel deserves to get the KC coaching job next year. He did a good job with a bad roster.
