If he leaves Indy, it'll be to whatever team he thinks gives him the best chance to win another ring. Manning isn't 50. He's no more adverse to the cold than anyone else is. he hasn't done well in the cold historically because he played for a pass heavy dome team, not because he personally can't deal with it.
He grew up in New Orleans, went to school in Tennessee, and has spent the past 14 years playing in a dome. He's completely imploded every time he's had to play in the snow. At the very least there would be an adjustment period for him just as there is for anyone who comes from a warm climate and goes somewhere cold. I'm sure it's part of the equation for him if he has to pick a future destination. All things being equal, he's going to go somewhere warm or indoors.
Eh. Rodgers and Brady are both from California. Adjusting to cold is more about scheme than anything else. The Colts play dome ball, always have. Manning's cold weather failures are all about their scheme. I don't think "all things being equal" applies. I think the ability to win another ring far outweighs any other consideration.

Fuck, another thread turned into Payton's place.

If the Lions don't address their secondary in the draft & FA, they're going to have to continue to put tons of points on the board.

The possibility of one of the best QB's of all time changing teams is gonna be fodder for speculation dude. Where are the Lions picking? 20ish? Not gonna be a lot of shut down corners on the board that late I'd think. Houston could use another corner too. Kareem Jackson sucks.

For once you get to talk about the playoffs instead of just the draft and you're thinking about April?

What's the mood like in Michigan these days? A big NCAA win yesterday and now a playoff game this weekend. They've got to be psyched for once.

Well they'll be back to cold, depressed Michigan come Sunday morning.

2 big wins the last couple of days. Most people are on the one & done bandwagon. I'm hoping for a good game, but not expecting a victory.

Responding to everything so far......

I think the Colts have to leverage Peyton and get what they can for him. Luck is the future and the Colts are far away from a Super Bowl window.

As for Manning landing spots, he's the biggest fish, so he'll land in the biggest of the ponds. What teams are ready to win for the next 2-3 years? Not Miami. Jets? maybe. I still say the Cowboys will be a factor.

Kudos to the Lions for (finally) making the playoffs, but they are going to be decimated this weekend.

Secondary woes plague most NFL teams. I would say the change in rules favoring the passing game has more to do with the percieved inability of most CBs/SSs to be successful.

Key to draft is if Rams get smitten with Justin Blackmon or if they take offers for pick so somebody can jump up to take RGIII.
It's hard for me to get used to these changing times. I can remember when the air was clean and sex was dirty.

RGIII will declare for the draft. The kid has already graduated from Baylor.

Can he be the next Cam Newton or will he become the next Andre Ware.
I was totally wrong about Newton. The kid exceeded my expectations within the first few games he played.

IMO, taking RGIII in the first round is just another huge risk. Picking Luck is a much lower risk and since the Rams already have Bradford, why take another QB in Round 1? They would be better off w/Blackmon or drafting an OL

No, he hasn't.

Not personally and not formally.

Chances are 95% that he WILL, but that isn't the case just yet.

He'll come out this year. It makes sense. He'll be the second QB taken behind Luck, and is guaranteed to go Top 5. If he waits a year he will probably still be the 2nd QB behind Barkley. It's not worth risking injury to pick up maybe 1 or 2 spots.

Cleveland Browns NEED Justin Blackmon very badly. They will hire an offensive coordinator, possibly Brad Childress, and hopefully keep Colt McCoy. They get some WR help and Colt in the same system for another year, along with some help on the right side of the line, and they will be pretty decent. Defense looks pretty good; can always improve though. Maybe a CB and S in the mid rounds.

Ideally, Blackmon with our pick at #4, then a RT with the Falcons #1 pick they traded to us last year.

Keep the running back rotation of Peyton Hillis and Montario Hardesty?

I may be biased here, but I say we keep Hillis and cut Hardesty. I really don't care for him. Keep Ogbannaya and draft someone. We do have Brandon Jackson coming back next year so he should be decent for 3rd down/change of pace. Hillis, when healthy, is awesome. You?

In order to win in the NFL with all the rules that are slanted towards offense a team needs to have a Top 10 caliber QB to be a true contender. Colt McCoy will never be a Top 10 guy and building a team around him will only result in one-and-done playoff appearances.

Even if they had a QB the really liked it's usually a bad idea to take a WR with a Top 5 pick. Too many of them have been busts, teams are wary and won't reach for them meaning a team can trade down to get their receiver. There are a lot more 5'11" guys with speed and good hands then there are 6'5" 290 lb guys with freakish athleticism or 6'4" 240 lb guys with rocket arms and the ability to read defenses. A top 5 pick is for a QB, a DE, a LT, a LB, or an absolute specimen WR (6'4", 220 lb, 4.3 40-speed)

Cleveland would be best served long-term by either taking Griffin at #4 or by trading the #4 and #25 to Indy for the #1 and then taking Luck. They can then build up the offense over the next few years and be ready to compete just as Balt & Pitt are slowing down. If I'm a Brown's fan that would be a far easier sell than if they told me they were going to win a SB with McCoy at the helm.

Would like to see what Colt could do with the offensive line shored up and some talent at WR. But it's not my choice to make. In the Walrus I Trust.

Joe Flacco? Alex Smith? There's more than one way to skin a cat.

Flacco and Smith haven't won anything yet. Flacco looks to be the reason that Balt han't wgone further and Smith has yet to win a playofff game. At some point during a Superbowl winning season the QB has to win a few games for his team. Defense alone won't win championships now that the Polianization (or pussification, if you will) of the rules results in flags for touching receivers or tackling QBs.
