Think we'll see GB/Bal.
For entertainment value, Brady/Brees or Brady/Rogers would be pretty good, but I don't think the Pats D is good enough to get there, or win.

My gut says Green Bay and Ravens, but I'm a Texans homer, so I'll try and keep the faith a little longer.

Re: Super Bowl!!!
If Schaub was playing they would be the AFC favorites because they would have the best balance between, defense, running, and passing. Plus they most likely would have had a bye week and would be playing at home for another week. But I just can't see them beating both of the top two seeds on the road in consecutive weeks as banged up as they are with a rookie 3rd string QB calling the shots. They could always catch a break and catch Balt off guard and then have something flukey in the NE/Den game and end up with the conference game in TX, but it just seems unlikely.bane wrote:My gut says Green Bay and Ravens, but I'm a Texans homer, so I'll try and keep the faith a little longer.

Re: Super Bowl!!!
It's very unlikely, but their winning the division and the wild card round with a third string rookie under center was unlikely too. They've got a shot this weekend, but they have to play perfectly to do it. They're a very good team, but yeah, the chances aren't great this year. They're set up well for the next few years though. I'd argue that healthy, they're probably the best in the AFC. They're definitely the most balanced.SkyDog112046 wrote:If Schaub was playing they would be the AFC favorites because they would have the best balance between, defense, running, and passing. Re: Super Bowl!!!
The NFC side got completely blown up this weekend. Both GB and NO go down.
The AFC is playing out much as everyone expected.
The Ravens aren't the same team away from home, and their offense is having troubles finding it's stride. NE has been bitten at home in recent playoffs, but I don't see the Ravens being able to do it.
I'm having a hard time seeing the Niners as legit, but that's my issue. Any team that can run the ball and play good D is dangerous. As for the Giants, they seem like a team of destiny. I look for the G-Men pass rush to get to Alex Smith and force him into a couple of mistakes.
Super Bowl then becomes Giants vs. Patriots.

It's hard for me to get used to these changing times. I can remember when the air was clean and sex was dirty.

I'll be in Indy for that week. Nick DiPaolo and Artie Lange are doing their show there all week. I'm kind of excited to see how many fucking people will be in such a small area. Downtown Indianapolis is not what you'd call expansive.

Re: Super Bowl!!!
I wouldn't be writing Baltimore off. You can't judge this week's game based on last week's performance. Those matchups last week played against Baltimore's weaknesses and into New England's strengths.
Texas has a tough defense, and they actually outplayed Baltimore it's just that Texas' 5th round rookie 3rd string QB cost them the game. But they were able to take away Balt's running game and in turn run the ball on them. Most teams can't do those things so the impression everyone is taking away is that Baltimore can't stop the run and can in turn be run on and passed on if the opponent's QB is accurate. It's a mirage.
At the same time people who watched the New England game saw them face an opponent that didn't pressure Brady and sat back in a zone while they got picked apart. On the other side of the ball they saw a Denver offense that was so inept and one-dimensional it made New England's defense resemble the '85 Bears for one night and nothing could be further from the truth. Again it's a mirage.
Look at New England's weaknesses. They have trouble playing against a defense that can play press man-to-man coverage while pressuring the QB with a 3 man front and has linebackers that can bring disguised blitzes and cover slot receivers. That sounds pretty much like Baltimore's defense. When New England plays defense they have trouble with teams that have strong running games and receivers that can run post routes for QBs that can throw the deep ball because they can only load up to stop one thing at a time. And that sounds an awful lot like Baltimore's offense.
The point is that last week's matchups made Baltimore look worse than they are and New England look better than they are. Don't be so quick to pencil in New England for a spot in Indy in 3 weeks.
