Someone please wake me up, if Bama goes up 18-0 before this snoozefest is over.

Re: BCS Title Game....
I`ve decided that Nick Saban has decided to win this game on field goals since he lost the last game on said field goals....

Gotta give him credit though, he has been on-field almost as much as LSU`s offense...Im sure his leg is tired...cantstopthemusic wrote:FINALLY .. a TD! (then BOINKS the PAT).

Re: BCS Title Game....
I refused to watch one play of this game.
So these 2 teams played twice, each won a game, but Bama is the BCS champ because they were fortunate to win the 2nd game, even though Bama lost the first.
System is flawed. There so far too many holes.
All the "experts" and pro Bama vs LSU people out there who had enough influence to make this game reality should be ashamed of themselves.
One by one these individuals have no choice but to apologize to the public for producing a very boring game when it mattered the most.

If you didnt watch a single play, how in the hell do you call what Alabama just did "fortunate"...only thing fortunate tonight was LSU not getting TD`s dumped on them instead of Field Goals.
There was no doubt that LSU was the best team in the nation this year...if you dont agree, its simply because LSU is an SEC team and you see bias everywhere. The fact that Alabama got a 2nd shot is not the fault of that program...its the fault of the pollsters...as they were the ones voting throughout the season.
Alabama again dominated LSU...and this time Bama made the field goals they missed in the previous game, as well as shoving a 34 yard TD down LSU`s #2 defense...this was a great defensive game, and a better offensive game on Bamas part....

really? I have plenty of other things, I didn't need to watch this corrupt mess. What a joke. They got their Money Bowl, I hope they're happy, I know I am. I only watched about 5 plays, and I regret that. The system isnt perfect...but it is what we have...and as such, you make do with what you have.

Amen to that. The execs in charge of these bowls are a business and the mission statement is to exploit the players/schools for the benefit of making the most money possible.NeverSurrender wrote:Maybe when they're done counting their money.Machado wrote:I refused to watch one play of this game.

OU Sooners did not have a season worthy enough to play in the BCS title game, but that has nothing to do with my opinion of the BCS title game.
LSU vs Bama Part Deux was unnecessary.
Pollsters are bias.
The media is biased and now they all get to appear on t.v. and apologize to the viewers, public & fans for the way they voted.

Re: BCS Title Game....
Why would they apologize? The fact that Alabama won validates the choice. Their responsibility is to put the two best teams in the country in that game. Style of play and how entertaining the game is is irrelevant. Alabama won. Clearly they were deserving.Machado wrote:

Re: BCS Title Game....
Machado's line of reasoning would exclude the team that obviously deserved to win it. He wants an avenue for some lesser team to take Bama's place so that the final rankings would be completely unrepresentative of who's actually the best team.bane wrote:Why would they apologize? He seems to be advocating style points and entertainment potential as part of the ranking system. I guess the voters should also be judges like in ball room dancing. Footballnastics maybe?exitflagger wrote: Machado's line of reasoning would exclude the team that obviously deserved to win it. Yeah, that's the way to do it.
Re: BCS Title Game....
Machado said it before, Bama won because they won the 2nd game.
That makes sense to you guys? Seriously?
A 6-8 team tourney is the only way, IMHO.

Unlike NCAA Hoops, these football teams are unable to play a game last night and then take the field again 2 days later.
One way to eliminate what happened last night, PRE-SEASON RANKINGS.
A team can be ranked in the Top 5 before 1 game is played because experts claim their incoming freshman/recruiting class is elite. WTF!!!

Re: BCS Title Game....
Nobody is saying the system is fair. Just about everybody here thinks the current system sucks. Machado's argument for a voter apology is fucking retarded though. Alabama would have won the first game too if their kicker could make a field goal. Both games were boring, but there was no cut and dried argument for another team to get that shot. Ok State would have probably been a more entertaining game. Doesn't mean they deserved it more than Alabana did.Tommy wrote:Machado said it before, Bama won because they won the 2nd game.

ESPN has posted the following regarding RG3
Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III on Tuesday is informing Baylor coach Art Briles that he has decided to turn pro, according to a family source, and an announcement is imminent.

Re: BCS Title Game....
If they would just go to the plus-one format and cut down the time between the conference playoffs and the championship game it would be a better system. Five weeks without a game and then asking teams to play for a championship takes teams out of rhythm. Including the top four ranked teams and having 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 with the winners playing for the title would take away a lot of the controversy. It will never replace a true playoff of say 16 teams but it will be better than what they have now.

Seems like a good idea on paper.SkyDog112046 wrote:If they would just go to the plus-one format and cut down the time between the conference playoffs and the championship game it would be a better system. Because the idea is good, I'm sure the NCAA, T.V. Networks and the rest of the idiots would dismiss this quickly.
IMO, the main reason for these bowl games being played 5 weeks later is to give the impression of a "brand new season". Extended the college football season if you will.
The only reason is to make $$$
I wish the bowls were played like they were years ago.
New Year's Day was going to be excited. Games starting early in the morning and going all through the night.

Re: BCS Title Game....
I don't think they're going to apologize, but in no way does that game validate anything. Putting these two teams in the title game is like putting the Steelers and Ravens in the super bowl. It's stupid. And they can blame the computer all they want, or whatever it is, but that shit was ridicuous. 2 southern teams, in the south for the title game. And I'd feel the same way if it was USC versus Oregon in LA. It's fucking stupid.bane wrote:Why would they apologize? The fact that Alabama won validates the choice. To me, the fun of it is watching two diferent styles of football from 2 different parts of the country and see which one comes out on top. And it has nothing to do with fgs, I love old school football, and think the rules to make passing more relevant has somewhat bastardized the game.
How were the rating anyways? Worse or better than normal?

For the next week or so the media will celebrate this game, have only positive things to say about the game and then 2 weeks or so from now the media will turn the tables and pick apart the game for all the faults
the match up had.

Re: BCS Title Game....
The ratings were the worst ever as I understand it. I didnt watch it either because I knew it was gonna be a snooze fest. but, given the system we have, who should have been in that game? LSU was clearly #1 and Alabama kicked their ass. It's the National Championship. It's supposed to decide who the best team is. Entertainment value is irrelevant.NeverSurrender wrote:I don't think they're going to apologize, but in no way does that game validate anything. Re: BCS Title Game....
Commissioners open to big BCS changes
Here here...we may be seeing something better coming inn 2014 when this current contract is up...the best to be hoped for is the proposed 4+1 playoff...but its just preliminary talks at the moment, so dont hold your breath...
Now, I have made it clear that I am a Bama fan, and I have said many times during the "end of season hype" that I would not have been terribly upset if OSU had gotten the nod over Bama...and I stand by that.
Do I think OSU would have racked up some TD`s on LSU, unlike what Bama did? Well, thats the thing...OSU would not have been facing the same LSU team/scheme as Alabama did, therefore it is likely that OSU would have been successful, but I dont think they would have hung a 21-0 drubbing on LSU...more than likely it would have been 35-21 or even 44-28 in OSU`s favor. But, having said that, I can also concede with full confidence that had Alabama beaten LSU on Nov 5th and won out the SEC Championship and got the BCS Championship nod and wound up against OSU, that ALabama would more than likely came out on top of that game as well due to nothing more than a smothering defensive line who is stingy as fuck with yardage. My guess is Alabama would have had more success with Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy on the ground, and assuming Marquise Maze didnt have a hamstring pull, I could see the score being a nominal 28-24 win for Bama. Losing Maze also likely cost Alabama atleast 1 TD if not a possible 2nd...and everyone here should be able to admit that...he managed an additional 10-15 yards after the hamstring went, and only had the Punter to beat to get to the endzone!
But, heres the thing...none of that matters, at all. It does no one any good to wonder how OSU, Standford, TCU, Boise or fucking USC would have fared against LSU...the voters as well as the computers put Alabama in that #2 spot...and Alabama did exactly what the did in the first game, except this time, they made the field goals they needed. They did this by getting their kickers within their comfort zone the majority of the time.
Alabama played a hell of a game, displayed a winning combination of offense, defense and special teams, and ultimately redeemed their single loss..and as such, they are without a doubt the 2012 BCS National Champions...and there aint a damn thing anyone can do about it now...Roll Tide Roll....

I don't know why, but I can't get into college ball. Maybe it's the fact that there's usually zero defense and half the season are total massacre mismatches but I just don't care about it.
I will occasionally watch a Clemson game (alma mater) if they are on...but that turned out pretty poorly last week.
