the better team won. they got better goaltending, scored more goals, played tough and killed off 31 out of 33 powerplays. life goes on.

canucks won game 42 because they had better goaltending, scored more goals and went 4-7 on the powerplay. again, life goes on.

that thing with tony gallagher is pretty funny. no one here like him. he's always been a tool. brian burke banned him from the dressing room and had his press pass revoked. he should get his facts straight before running his mouth.

so should thorton. weise, burrows, bieksa and malholtra aren't 7 guys. and it's not like he stood and battled all 4. (besides, since the canucks are all pussies he shouldn't have an issue fighting all 18 at once.) his team mates jumped right in. then hamhus grabbed lucic. that's 5. who were the other 2? one of the sedin's stepped off the ice right away. he did nothing. i don't remember schnieder getting involved.
Gallagher went to my high school. They had him come in a few times as a guest speaker and he comes off as a complete phony, just like he did in that war of words with Thornton.

That aside, people that rag on the Sedins need to ask themselves if they are real hockey fans. The Sedins are amazing to watch. Their chemistry together has never been seen before in the NHL, and I'm talking about all the great duos the game has ever seen. To call them pussies is completely asinine. What I will say is that the Canucks do need to get someone to watch their back the same way McSorely watched Gretzky's. It was a complete and utter joke that Marchand never got a penalty last year for repeatedly punching one of the Sedin's. Seriously, in what world does that not get called?

To the person said that the Canucks are going to face an uphill battle getting back to the cup finals, you're right. Bettman probably wants Chicago to get in there along with either Boston or the Rangers. However, if the Canucks can add some toughness and another steady d-man, they're going to be my favourites this year. When healthy, the Canucks top 9 is loaded with talent.

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Booth - Kesler - Higgins
Hansen - Hodgson - Raymond

Personally I'd like to throw in some grit like a Chris Neil in there somewhere, but the Canucks will no doubt be right in the mix again. It'll either be Blackhawks or Canucks in the west. Should be fun.

Well, he could've skated away, or grown balls. The ref was probably sick of his diving ass trying to get calls.

The ref should grow a pair and just call Sedin for diving then instead of let another player assault him before his eyes

Maybe the ref played hockey and he thinks Sedin is a pussy.

I mean the rest of the hockey world does. The only people who stick up for those cunts is you hippie vancouver fucks.

If your team treated the Bruins like your people did your city after you lost the finals we wouldn't be discussing this.

Bobby Orr was a highly skilled and finesse player, but he didn't take anyone's crap either. You can actually be a great player and have a sack. Mary-kate and Ashley obviously didn't get that memo.

Habs/B's tonight.

I'm hoping to avoid one of those 9-0 drubbings the Bruins tend to lay down on their opponents once every three weeks or so.

So, WOLF.
What happened to them? They seemed like a team on the rise last year.
Don't really follow them too closely, is it injuries or a combo of things?

Injuries have been devastating, but there are other factors.

Too many players with similar skill sets is one issue. I know people call them smurfs, etc. The reality is they are not THAT small, but all they're players play the same way (often small). They need to mix it up a bit and get some tougher talent on the top two lines.

Also, the "stars" on the team really got sick of Jacques Martin's system. It must be frustrating when you have the talent to attack, and you're told "only attack if the other team makes a mistake, otherwise sit back". Martin's defensive minded system was the wrong fit for guys like Plekanec, Cammalleri, Gionta, Subban, Cole, etc. Worst thing that happened to the Habs is that they made it to the semis, under Martin's system, on the back of Halak. It made the organization think they were better than they are.

The Habs need to do what the Bruins did. Go outside the organization for a bright, young GM. Think outside the box re who the coach should be (the Bruins hired an ex-Hab for god's sake). Trade wisely, take some chances, don't be afraid to admit mistakes (like the B's did in blowing it up in the first year after the lockout), and even if they need to miss the playoffs 3-4 years, stop treading water in 8th place and get some good, top 5 picks.

A little love from the Leafs - a la Rask, Seguin, and Dougie Hamilton (who is going to be a Larry Robinson) wouldn't hurt either!

Tough town to be in when things go bad. Forget about NY or Boston. They're still in contention for the 8th spot:

Last night's game didn't have the usual feel of a B's/Habs tilt.

Habs need to stop finishing 6th, 7th, 8th, bottom out, and restock the shelf with some real talent.

Besides, you don't want to play us in the first round again, do you?

Just curious how many of you Boston fans were crying back in the day when the likes of Odjick and Brashear were beating the crap outta everyone in sight......pretty funny how tough the Bruins are when they can hide behind giant Chara and good old Vancouver boy Lucic ;)
Just sayin' it's supposed to be a skill league now but come playoffs the rulebook goes out the window.....

Wow, a butthurt Canucks fan? Who would've guessed. Where in the rulebook does it say "skill league" again?
Yeah, Thornton and Horton and McQuaid and anyone else on the team who isn't afraid to stick up for themselves or a teammate "hides behind" Chara and Lucic.

Hey, I'm all for old school hockey......but basketball Bettman has totally fucked up the league with his stupid rule changes. Drop the instigator rule and let the teams police themselves again.

I agree with that point but I'm sorry that I can't resist this:
If that were to happen, the Canucks would run out of players by like the third game of the season due to injury, wouldn't they?
:P

Not trying to kick a hornet's nest, but I remember you saying on a few occasions that Montreal wasn't "allowed" to bottom out. I understand that the most passionate fans in the league would be upset, but that's how recent Stanley Cup Winners (Pens,Black Hawks) are built these days. You're right, they do need to stop wallowing in mediocrity and build. However,it's not like they haven't had oppurtunities to draft great players the past decade or so:

http://www.hockeytracker.net/2011/06/dr ... ue-to.html

IMO, the Habs have never recuperated from the Mario Tremblay/Rejean Houle expierment, and have been treading water ever since.I thought Gainey, who was always considered a hockey mastermind, was the answer but he just exsaporated the problem with poor moves and decisions.

I think the Habs should bottom out and build a team through the draft, but I don't think a large segment of the population here would go for it. Having said that, I think more and more people are starting to realize that a 30 team NHL with a salary cap is way tougher to build a stellar franchise in than a 6-16 team league, with 2-3 rounds of playoffs, and the Habs having right of first refusal on players born in Quebec.

Houle/Tremblay started the problem, with terrible trades where seemingly a good young player was always thrown in, and that trend has continued. Gainey brought the team back to respectability, but not greatness.

The team has drafted well, but their developmemt of the young talent they've drafted has been bad, while they're pro scouting has been atrocious.

It's' a giant shit sandwhich that Geoff Molson will fix, if he cares about hockey and not just selling beer.

Funny how Colin Campbell steps aside just as his kid gets a shot at the cup, and then our old GM is asked for disciplinary advice regarding his old team? Coincidence? Isn't the Bruins owner on the board of governors? Weird......

On the one hand I wish the Sedins would fight back a little bit. You know its the playoff final and this guy just keeps on jabbing and you're doing nothing. Its playoff hockey - fight back! And if you're not going to fight back, then have a team mate there ready to stand in and fight for you.

However I think the Sedins don't get as much protection as other star players. if that was Crosby you know the refs would be more on top of things with shit like that.

And the Bruins got away with a lot more shit in the playoff final than the Canucks did.
