I thought his name was "Trumble" because of Buck Martinez.

Robertson or Trumbo?
I hope not!
Yankees are looking for someone that can play DH and bat lefty. Platoon with A. Jones at the DH spot, along with Jeter and ARod on occasion.
Team does not have a lot of $$ to spend for this player.

It's in the MLB rumors. Apparently with Pujols locking up 1B, Trumbo is trade bait.tin00can wrote:killeverything wrote:The MFY are also in talks with Anaheim for Trumbo. Supposably it's for Robertson which wpuld thrill me a 280OBP for their best reliever stashed in AAA?
Hmm, I haven't heard anything about this. Interesting. I think the Angels are holding on to Trumbo as insurance in case Morales isn't able to come back.

As long as the "Rusty Trumbo" FB page stays up I'm ok with wherever he goes.

Trumbo isn't making that much.

He's still recovering from a foot injury so I don't think he's traded, and I have a hunch Morales still won't be ready at the start of the season, so Trumbo will be with the Angels and the Rusty Trumbo page will be alive and well. In fact...

Fuck. Victor Martinez is likely out for the season. Torn ACL.

So Ellsbury and the Red Sox agree to a one-year deal and both sides say a longer deal wasn't discussed. What's the deal here? Are they waiting it out to see if he holds up health-wise? Does he want to try free agency after this season?

Theo and his crew treated Ellsbury like shit when he was out with rib issues. Then they went and signed Crawfraud for $142M. Ellsbury is looking for big bucks in free agency and most likely somewhere else.MurrayFiend wrote:So Ellsbury and the Red Sox agree to a one-year deal and both sides say a longer deal wasn't discussed. Crawford was a bust in 2011. I guess you just have to hope for more from him.

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Crawford's having wrist surgery. I guess it's a common procedure and could explain his struggles last season. Theo traded for Schilling, signed Foulke, picked up Ortiz ( off fucking waivers! ), signed Mueller, tradef away Nomah for O-Cab, Mienkwitz and Roberts. Aside from a couple good draft picks, he fucked this team before he went to Chicago.
They gave Ellsbury 8.05m for one year because they don't have any money to spend long term. They're still paying for Theo's fuck ups. 2004 made him a God. 2005+ shown he's not a genius. He's an Ivy league grad whose read Moneyball and has a billionaire's allowance.

This was before the team learned about Crawford's wrist surgery.

Hey, I'm a fan of a fourth-place team and a fifth-place team in 2012 (according to expectations). I can't hate.

Why is CrawFraud having wrist surgery in mid-January? If it's a recent injury that's one thing but if this was ongoing he should have had surgery in early November. Or is this just another case of Theo not giving a shit because he was on his way out the door?

Im okay with the FO's explaination for CC's wrist. Hopefully it's just minor and not Nomah2.0. Better now than July.
Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Rangers have only a few hours to sign Darvish.
If they succeed, the Rangers are spending a lot of money on this player.
Rumors are the contract is for 6 yrs + don't forget about the posting
fee.
With that much $$ spent on 1 player:
1)Can Rangers afford to sign Fielder
2)How many Cy Young Awards will Darvish need to win in order
to justify the contract?

They can afford Darvish, and a deal will get done. Its money that goes back to his team. If he doesnt take a reasonable offer. I would imagine culturally it would be looked at as disrespectful.Machado wrote:Rangers have only a few hours to sign Darvish.

What I want to see is how he responds to Ryan's throwing regiment. The Red Sox medical staff fucked up with coddling Dice. Its an interesting experiment.
Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Very interesting indeed. Ryan has his throwing program that is very unconventional(but i agree with). I'm sure if Darvish and the Rangers have more success with this program, all MLB teams will introduce the same program.killeverything wrote:They can afford Darvish, and a deal will get done. Thats the difference between Cy, Big Train, Feller and the 6 inning aces of today. "Pitch them a lot, all year long. You'll find they develop good strong arms." - Cy YoungMachado wrote:Very interesting indeed. Ryan has his throwing program that is very unconventional(but i agree with). Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Done deal with Darvish 6/60. Dayum.
Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
For this price the Rangers can have this guy.
A lot of $$ for a pitcher that has a lot to prove and a HUGE microscope on him at all times.
Darvish agreed to a six-year deal worth approximately $60 million just before Wednesday's 5 p.m. ET deadline. The agreement comes 30 days after the Rangers won the right to negotiate with Darvish and his representatives, Don Nomura and Arn Tellem, by submitting a record $51.7 million posting bid.
The club will now send the Nippon-Ham Fighters that payment and Darvish will come to the United States to pitch in the big leagues for the first time.
Including the posting fee, the Rangers paid more than $111 million to sign Darvish, which is more than the $103 million that the Boston Red Sox gave up to negotiate and sign Daisuke Matsuzaka.

Financially the deal opens a lot of doors in the Japanese market. Like Matsuzaka, the deal will pay itself off monetarily speaking.

I really hope this means the Rangers don't get Fielder.

It kinda does unless they sign him and let Hamilton walk next season. They could technically, but that would be an Epstein-esque business strategy paralyzing your team in the future FA market.tin00can wrote:I really hope this means the Rangers don't get Fielder.

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
It's possible, but Prince isn't a DH playing FB ( David Ortiz in Interleague say's hi ), Fielder is an actual above League average first baseman. I have a hard time believing hr's going to take a career step down to play for the MFY. Especially considering his fall out with his father about playing ability. Cecil had a really good season. Prince has had and probably will continue to have more.Machado wrote:Who else is thinking what I am thinking?tin00can wrote:I really hope this means the Rangers don't get Fielder.

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
NEW YORK -- Gary Carter's health has taken a turn for the worse.
The 57-year-old Hall of Fame catcher, diagnosed last May with a malignant brain tumour, received results of his latest MRI exam Thursday, according to the online journal of his daughter, Kimmy Bloemers.
She writes "I wish I could say that the results were good. ... There are now several new spots/tumors on my dad's brain. I write these words with tears because I am so sad for my dad."
Carter, a former member of the Montreal Expos, had the MRIs Friday in North Palm Beach, Fla., and they were sent to his doctors at Duke University for evaluation.
A day earlier, he fell at a doctor's appointment and completely tore a rotator cuff, Bloemers wrote, adding that he also fell on Christmas Eve.

Very sad news about Carter. Seriously, FUCK Cancer.
In other news, it's very likely that the Marlins will be the team featured in "The Franchise", featured on Showtime. Last season, they featured the Giants. Pretty good show, can't wait for it to start! Lots of storylines for sure...New park, Ozzie, Hanley and Reyes, Crazy Fucking Carlos! LoMo, Stanton...

That's interesting. I kind of assumed they'd profile the defending champs again, but with their iconic manager and franchise player gone I'm not sure how good the Cardinals would be, anyway.
