That's all perfectly reasonable. Houston outplayed the Ravens in every phase except the one that matters, and Denver was hopelessly outclassed. I still like the Pats chances this week though. As long as Brady stays away from Ed Reed, they should move the ball well. I don't see Baltimore keeping up.

I just heard a stat where Alex Smith is 16-1-1 against the spread in his last 18 home games. That's pretty solid.
He's like the Liberace of bass & pot.

My point is that in an era without truly dominant teams it's all about matchups. Just because Baltimore won a close game while New England won a blowout doesn't mean that New England should be a heavy favorite. In the salary cap era certain teams can own another team while at the same time performing poorly against everyone else. New England has trouble with defenses that play man-to-man press coverage and can get to Brady without an all out blitz. Baltimore can do that. On the other side of the ball New England has trouble with strong running teams where the QB can do enough to keep them honest. It's not like Baltimore has a glorified running back calling their signals as Denver did. This game can be close.

I agree. By no means is NE a lock. Baltimore has a very good team. I just think Brady and co will put up enough points to get it done.

Pats are favorites, and I think they'll win. But anyone who thinks that it's a 'laugh' to suggest that a 12-4 Ravens team with some of the guys they have on that defense could win is just talking it up for an internet audience.

4-4 "road" record with losses AT: Tennessee, Jacksonville, Seattle, San Diego.

The Pats might hang 60 on them.

This will be a ROUT, at minimum.

How about the niners part of it? Is that also a laugh?

Playing YOUR game- the giants managed to get swept by a redskins team helmed by Rex Grossman.

REX GROSSMAN.

Thoughts/opinions?

The Giants don't "peak" until the end of the year.

EVERYONE knows that.

That one could go either way, depending on the precipitation conditions.

The Pats win, however, is a slam-dunk.

You're nuts. I think the Pats will win, but the combined score won't reach 60.

So you are picking the giants to win the super bowl?

They are on a roll after all, and that's all that matters.

Way to twist my words. I was explaining the insignificance of losing to the Redskins, 5 games ago. It's been all "W's" ever since.

No, I'm NOT picking them to win the Super Bowl. They'll be fortunate if they escape the NFC title game with a "W" - with the forecast being rain and thundershowers on the "grass" Candlestick field. Whoever has the best chosen footwear for the game time conditions may have a decided advantage. Should be a slippery surface, which will favor SF's more prolific RB (Gore).

Patriots will beat whoever emerges, regardless.

I hope it's the Giants, because I can't stand Harbaugh. I'd like to see a 2007 Super Bowl rematch.

We'll see how the Pats do tomorrow. They haven't beaten anyone with a winning record all year. I'm picking the Ravens.

How many teams with a winning regular season record did the Pats face this year? And how many did they beat? It will almost certainly be a Patriots win, and probably a big one too. But much stranger things have happened is all I'm saying.

Wrong as usual.

San Diego was 1-0
Raiders were 2-1
Jets were 5-3
Broncos were 8-5

Brady picked a fine time to look like dogshit, in his passing game.

It's not because of anything the RAVENS are doing, either.

It's going to be "conservative" play-calling from here on out.

I figured he'd be as "on" as last week. I figured wrong.

Brady has been a little off, but the Ravens D tends to have that effect. Entertaining game so far regardless.
