I will occasionally watch a Clemson game (alma mater) if they are on...but that turned out pretty poorly last week.
I'm the opposite, I can watch college ball all day long but NFL not really. Only the Chiefs.

If you like defensive football, then this was a game you could have gotten into...if you think 92 yards of total offense shines a light on a well-oiled defense anyway...

"Boo hoo, the game was boring!"

Yeah, we could have one of those games where neither defense shows up like the fucking pathetic Alamo Bowl. How the hell is that better than two strong teams butting heads?

Last night's game was as exciting as a non-Team USA 1-0 soccer match.

LSU's offense made Bama's defense look 2x BETTER with their total ineptitude.

I would say that LSU's vaunted defense wasn't exactly ON DISPLAY, last night - but they were on the field for 3/4 of the game, so that wouldn't be quite accurate.

So what's the point? We want two shitty teams with poor defenses in the championship game just because football fans have gotten desensitized and need some cheap thrills?

LSU still finished no. 2 in the polls. All the boringness of the BCS game still didn't have much effect on that, did it?

I'm thinking some of you whiners need to stick with hoping for fights at hockey games if that's your level of appreciation for sports.

I love defense, but 21-0 isn't fun at all. At least not the 2 minutes I watched.

Just like 48 - 20 ain't fun. It's also not fun when the shit is corrupt.

I only watch college football casually, but if they manage to add the +1 game, that should be enough to keep the critics happy. For a while, anyway.

PTI reported yesterday that a College Football playoff will happen in the near future. The show quoted a source. Whether or not this will actually happen is another story.
There are so many factors involved.
How will the student/athlete react to the news of a playoff?

The source said they were mulling over up to 60 different options, but it will definitely change next year. They do NOT want what happened this year to ever happen again.

Instead of being pro-active, the jerks in charge once again are reacting to the situation, unfortunately far too late.

Ratings. More people watched the first game than the National Championship. When you want to force change, hit them in the wallet.

But the fans demanded this game.
The College Football public wanted both LSU vs Bama to play a 2nd game
and settle the battle once and for all

Amen.

That shit was like another saturday evening living in the south, watching two SEC play. It was nothing special and felt like nothing special. Only these greedy idiots could fuck something up this bad.

the first game was on CBS, the second was on ESPN. while it might've been a low-rated game overall, it was still one of ESPN's highest rated games ever.

funny thing is, the SEC voted for the "+1" back in 2008, but all the other conferences except one turned it down....i guess it had to take an all-SEC championship before everyone else finally decided to jump on the bandwagon

i love defensive games, but LSU was just as bad on offense as bama was good on defense, if that makes sense. apparently LSU isn't familiar with the term "halftime adjustments". i'd been waiting all season for les miles to show his ass, and boy did he ever in the MNC. supposedly the reason he didn't take out jordan jefferson (who played like total ass) & put in jarrett lee was out of spite....he got into an argument with one of the offensive coaches, and to "show" him, he left in jefferson. what a douchebag move, 'cuz it obviously gave LSU zero chance to come back.

sorry i bumped the thread, but i'm a big college football fan

There was more to it than just a coaching squabble. From what I understand the entire team was divided on Jefferson and there's a lot of conspiracy theory shit flying around about covert in-fighting and key members of the team throwing the game. It makes sense given how terrible LSU looked but everybody has apparently taken a "no snitching" policy and I guess we'll never know for sure. The refusal of Les Miles to try to sufficiently explain ANYTHING AT ALL kind of gives the whole thing a lot of weight.

Who could've figured having two equally good quarterbacks would end up ruining the whole season?

lee had been playing lights-out all season, so i don't know why he got permanently benched for having a sluggish outing against bama....i mean, who the hell didn't have a rough time against them?

it sure didn't look like LSU was concerned about making a comeback.... when they still stuck with their running game in the 4th quarter, they might as well just forfeited. or better yet, take a knee every down. they couldn't have done any worse!

not suprised les miles is hush-hush about the whole thing.....after all, explaining things is not his strong suit :)

I'm pretty sure the reason he can't explain it is because it got way out of his control. He's only the coach. If the guys on the field are pissed enough about something to throw the game, the coach has already lost control. My feeling is that there were certain guys who wanted to sabotage the game just enough to force Miles to put Lee in the game. When it didn't happen, it just got worse and worse.

Of course it's all conjecture but when I heard the "inside info", it made more sense than a super talent-rich team like this just suddenly turning into a bunch of clueless idiots overnight. There was a LOT of really dark, fucked up behind-the-scenes maneuverings going on within that team this year.

Nobody was "throwing the game."

Except Jefferson, possibly.

You live 4 miles from campus? Do you have a cousin who is Les Miles's secretary?

No? Okay. So STFU.

LSU got THRASHED, in an embarrassing fashion.

Apparently they all thought that all they had to do was SHOW UP.

THEY CHOKED!

THE END

i've read many posts by LSU fans on the ESPN boards that are on the same page as you (exitflagger), but most folks on the outside looking in dismissed it as sour grapes. having watched LSU several times this past season, i can definitely say something was up in that game. les might keep quiet, but i'm sure in time we'll hear something about it, likely from a potential NFL prospect gone bust....

edit: if jefferson was throwing the game (which i doubt), it was the only throwing he did with any effectiveness that night!
