Not at all. I am telling the Pats Fags that they cannot have it both ways. They can't hail Brady for winning three SBs and absolve him of any blame in losing two.MurrayFiend wrote:In a way aren't you just doing the opposite of the 'Cheatriots' fans you so despise, giving him little to no credit for their successes but placing all the blame for their failures upon his shoulders?

In my opinion, Brady does not deserve much credit for their Super Bowl victories. He also does not deserve all of the blame for the losses. His performance in all five games was fairly steady; decent, good enough to win, but not dominating and not good enough to win the games outright without a strong defensive performance. In fact, NE's defense actually overachieved this past Sunday and held the Giants in check all game, and Brady still could not take advantage.

OK, I see your point. But the one against Carolina where they gave up 29 points was hardly a great defensive performance!

The Colts beat arguably the worst SB team to play in the game. Congratulations.

Re: Boston Sports Writer Calls Tom Brady an "Embarrassment"
Talk to enough people and you'll find the average football fan is an idiot. There are a couple of them frequenting the NFL-related threads. And that's not counting the Indy fanboy who gives credence to the maxim "It is better to remain silent and let people think you are a fool than it is to open your mouth and remove all doubt."
Look at the game again. The single biggest difference is that NY receivers made some catches they shouldn't and NE receivers dropped balls they should have caught. Overall the QB play was slightly above average but the NY receivers had a tremendous game. If you ask me who was MVP I'd say the NY receivers. Try to find a highlight reel catch made by a NE receiver in that game. NY receivers made a bunch of great grabs.
If Welker or Branch makes that catch everyone(meaning average fans and certain media outlets) is talking about Brady being clutch at the end again even though it wouldn't have affected his overall numbers by much.
Conversely, if Manningham doesn't make his catch on the ensuing drive and NY doesn't get down the field nobody is talking about Eli being clutch. But would he have been considered as clutch if he led them down the field for a FG to put them ahead if he had left Brady 1:30 and all 3 timeouts? Or say NY scores a FG to go up by 1 and Brady has the time to bring NE back for their own FG? Does that make Brady clutch again and Eli not? I guess to the average fan they do but anyone who truly knows the game realizes that those final drives were not so much due to QB play as they were due to the playmakers around them.

Belichick before game-winning drive: “Make them go to Manningham”
Mike Florio - February 9, 2012, 9:11 PM EST
As expected, Patriots coach Bill Belichick planned to defend the Giants in Super Bowl XLVI by taking away what the Giants do best. And that meant shutting down receivers Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks.
So before what became the Giants’ game-winning drive, NFL Films microphones caught Belichick giving this directive to his team, via ESPNBoston.com: “This is still a Cruz-and-Nicks game. I know we’re right on them. It’s tight, but those are still the guys. Make them go to Manningham, make them go to [Bear] Pascoe. Let’s make sure we get Cruz and Nicks.”
The Giants indeed went to Manningham, and Manningham made an uncanny catch of a perfect 38-yard throw from quarterback Eli Manning to spark the effort that allowed the Giants to win the game.
Though Manningham didn’t have huge numbers, reliance on him in one of the game’s biggest moments meshed with something former Colts coach Tony Dungy had been saying last week. In the 2006 AFC title game, during which the Pats raced to a 21-3 lead, Belichick found a way to take away both Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne. The Colts then adjusted, targeting tight end Dallas Clark and taking advantage of opportunities in the running game.
And so with Belichick so determined to take away what the opposing offense does best and with opposing offenses now figuring it out, the chess match needs to move to the next level, with Belichick making the enemy think he’ll be taking away the top weapons and then pouncing on the guy to whom the ball will actually go.

But a QB gets credit for winning when he orchestrates the winning drive at the end of the game seeing how he called the plays, made the reads, and made the throws.
Seriously, go read Football 101. You know jack shit about the game.
he's actually right on this, though if talking about Geyton, he probably would feel the same as you do.
Brady hasn't won shit since his defense went away, but he gets all the credit for those wins, and now it's all the WRS fault. Bullshit. That's the NFL these days.

Great article. This Boston columnist places the blame squarely where it belong: on the shoulders of Tom "choke artist" Brady.

1 ring ain't that big of a deal for someone who is supposed to be the greatest ever.
He choked on the NFL's biggest stage when he threw that pick six, handing the Supe to the Saints. That ain't "great."
