Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Baseball America released their 2012 Top Prospect Handbook. Seattle has a loaded system that they've been stocking for awhile now, with lots of pitching ( hence why they could move Pineda and [ mistakenly I might add ] Campos ) for a #2 ranking. Who's #1? Texas, scary huh?
Plus the college baseball rankings too.
1. Florida ( second first ranking in a row, lost CWS ).
2. Stanford
3. South Carolina ( won CWS ).
4. Arkansas
5. Arizona
6. Rice
7. Texas A&M
8. Louisiana State
9. North Carolina
10. Vanderbilt

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
This is very good news because the stubbon S.O.B. needs to finally make his own adjustments, and stop worrying about pulling every single batted ball from the LH side of the plate.
Mark Teixeira is a home run hitter with a problem. His batting average is sinking, and the aggressive defensive shift used by opposing teams is giving him problems left-handed.
“I might lay down some bunts this year,” Teixeira said before last night’s Thurman Munson dinner. “I’ve been so against it my entire career. But I might lay down a few bunts. If I can beat the shift that way, that’s important.”
Teixeira hit just .224/.325/.453 as a lefty last season. He hit 24 home runs left handed, but all-around consistency that made him such a dynamic hitter two years ago was missing, and it’s been missing for two years now (from the left side).
“Obviously I’d love to bring my average up and it’s very simple, left-handed singles,” Teixeira said.
“I have to adapt,” Teixeira said. “I’ve been frustrated the last few years, because those balls haven’t been falling in. Finally I’ve kind of given in, and I’m going to hopefully start using that side a little more.”

The MFY's 100m dollar bunter. Thats funny to me.
Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Take it easy. If not, I'll have Joba throw another fastball up and in tokilleverything wrote:The MFY's 100m dollar bunter. Thats funny to me.
Youk

If he bunts safely for a single once per month, his batting average will increase by about 16 pts. Nothing wrong with that.
There is a time and place for him to lay down a bunt and if he does, I think
that's great.

Is that before or after he gives up 5 runs? Unless its a sacrifice, Teix isnt really a good baserunner, well I think he lacks the speed to be an on base threat.Machado wrote:Take it easy. Am I the only one who doesn't see the big deal about Josh Hamilton supposedly drinking?
Dude was obviously just trying to see where his tolerance is at for Sunday.

I dont think its a big deal, but he makes like 13m a year and had to have a constant sponsor. If I was Nolan I would be concerned considering his track record.
Matt Garza accepted arbitration from the Cubs. 9.25m I believe.

Is Oil Can Boyd admitting in his new book that he was on cocaine 2/3 of his games the least surprising admission in history? Maybe Bonds saying he was on steroids would be less surprising.

I wouldn't call Florida an expected non-contender this season, though I wouldn't mind seeing them fail and Jose Reyes only play 60 games.

Jeff Weaver. Remember him? 25th man on the playoff roster for NYY vs
Marlins. Guys enters the game and then exits the game in a very short amount of time.
That's when I knew that series was ours to lose.
S.O.B.!!!

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Yankees might have a team willing to trade for A.J. Burnett.
Buster Olney from ESPN reported today the Pirates are debating whether to make the trade. The Yankees would acquire LH Garret Jones in return.
Obviously the Yankees would have to eat a lot of the remaining contract that A.J. is owed.

I'm a season ticket holder, asshole. And it's an exhibition game, i.e. it doesn't really count. And I probably will end up going to one of the games. And if I can't go to a game, I give my tickets to someone who WILL. I work nights, so obviously I can't go to every game.Machado wrote:And you wonder why the marlins are not contenders, even with a new stadium.TawnyVonJagger wrote:55 more days to Opening Night. You don't mess with Tawny about the Marlins.
Unless it's about the uber-gay fountain in center field at the new stadium. Then it's cool.

MLB Expanding Wilcard Playoffs is coming
from Bud Selig himself.
This fucking guy is pushing hard for the expansion to happen this year, despite the fact that currently on 2 open dates are available between the
end of the regular season and the start of the divisional playoffs.

That stadium is going to add "beans & rice" to their ballpark menu now!
A.J. getting traded is the right move for Yankees. There is no more room for this guy on the starting staff(barring injury).
Yankees starters today are:
C.C.
Nova
Pineda
Kuroda
Hughes/Freddy Garcia

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Considering Beane's recent extension, I think Oakland is close to getting their San Jose stadium deal. Without is why they had to trade away their all stars ( Cahill, Gonzalez and Bailey ). According to Baseball America they have some pretty highly ranked prospects coming up, but with the potential exemption of Cespedes they lack a lot of power in the OF corners.Machado wrote:Where did the A's get the money to sign this guy?Facedown wrote:A's sign Yoenis Cespedes to a 4yr/36mil deal.
