Pirates say A.J. Burnett will be out 8-12 weeks after surgery this morning to repair fractured orbital bone in right eye.

Going over the Cubs roster right now I feel like the construction workers at the beginning of Major League. "Who the fuck are these guys?"
"This guy's dead!"
"Take him off the list then."

Cubs fans are about to realize how overated Theo Epstein is. I truly wish he was taking over Duquette's team. He's not, he's got Jim Hendry's.
Oh and fuck Bud Selig.

Although the exact format was not revealed, sources said that the Nos. 4 and 5 seeds in each league -- the wild-card teams -- will meet in a one-game playoff, with the three division winners awarded a first-round bye.Facedown wrote:It's official.

The new format for 2012 will eliminate the travel day between Games 4 and 5 in the Division Series.
For 2012 only, the five-game Division Series will begin with 2 home games for lower seeds, followed by up to 3 home games for higher seeds.
Next year, the Division Series will return to the 2-2-1 format used in previous years.

The Pittsburgh Pirates agreed to terms on a six-year, $51.5 million deal with star center fielder Andrew McCutchen, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported early Monday, citing a source.
The contract, which has a club option worth $14.75 million, will buy out McCutchen's remaining arbitration seasons and at least two years of free agency.

Very large park. Quite a poke to RC for a HR. Reminds me of the old Yankee Stadium/Death Valley in Left Center Field all those years ago.TawnyVonJagger wrote:Machado wrote:Tawny-

Question for all the Cubs fans here?
At which point during the season will the Cubs be eliminated from the playoffs?
Let's face it-That team, franchise, city, fans, players don't have a chance of breaking
the curse anytime soon.

Good ad. They should've put Bautista on the U.S. edition's cover as well. What, people won't buy it if it's a Jay on the cover?

Nahh...I'll be patient. Between Hendry's shitty signings and the last two managers letting the players run the show, I'll be happy if I see hustle and no fundamental retardation. Lou stopped managing a year and half before they told him to get lost and Dusty was just not managerial.MurrayFiend wrote:Folks'll be foaming at the mouth talkin' 'bout "the honeymoon is over" before long.
Telling Crazy Carlos and Aramis' 'your services are no longer needed' was a huge step in changing the way that team plays ball. Soriano is apparently hustling in Arizon and he'd better because I'd be happy outright cutting his lazy ass.

Kill,
Papelbon just called you "ignorant"
Former Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon took a shot at the Fenway faithful Thursday, telling a Philadelphia radio station that Phillies fans "tend to know the game a little better" than fans in Boston, who he said were "a little bit more hysterical when it comes to the game of baseball."
Papelbon, who signed with the Philadelphia Phillies as a free agent after spending six seasons as the best closer in Boston history, made the comments to a CBS radio station in Philadelphia when asked to compare the fans in the two cities.
"It's a religion (in Boston). It's a way of life," Papelbon said on 94WIP's "Angelo Cataldi and The Morning Team." "(Fans) come to the field and they expect certain things out of players. ... It's an environment where you put up or shut up. I enjoyed that. That's what got my motor running every day. ... I've had a guy take off his prosthetic leg and throw it in the bullpen in Boston and want me to sign it."
Papelbon continued: "The Philly fans tend to know the game a little better, being in the National League, you know, the way the game is played."

Ive long quit listening to anything Pap says.
He was good in the playoffs once. They got eliminated every other time because of him. I expect him to close great in Philly, although against AL teams who know his stuff? Youll be watching a walkoff in the ninth. Good riddance.

Adam Dunn is back.
If he can do it in March against AA pitchers, I'm sure he can transfer that success to the regular season.

Strange Injury Update:
Yankees relief pitcher David Robertson rolled his ankle while carrying an empty box at his home.
MRI tests are scheduled to be available today.
Rays starting pitcher David Price injured his neck yesterday while rubbing a towel on his head in
between innings. Price suffered neck spasms. This is the 3rd time an injury like this has happened to him.

Not sure if any Nats fans are here, but I saw the injury Wang suffered
while fielding a ground ball today near 1st base(vs Yankees).
How did his leg not fall off? That was very strange and looked painful.

This is from out of nowhere. When I read the info earlier on the Yankees site, I thought today
was April 1st.
Not sure if this is going to end well or not.
Very interesting. I wonder if the Yankees have a trade in place for something
like Hughes or F. Garcia to make room for Andy.
I can't imagine Andy would be ready opening day. The guy might need at least 1 month to get his arm ready to start games.
So strange.

Kendrys Morales had his first ABs in a game since May 2010. Went 2-5 in minor league games today.

I cant wait for the season to start. The aspect I think Im most excited about ( aside from any MFY loss ) is watching Yu Darvish under Nolan Ryan. The biggest fuckup IMO with Matsuzaka was the Red Sox's coaching staffs handling of him.
I'm looking forward to seeing Nolan's old school approach with him, and how he adapts. Pitcher's are too coddled nowadays. If they were bigger pansies theyd be playing soccer.
