Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Rogan has a big time habit of picking one fighter in each fight, and making them seem like what they are doing is the next coming of christ.
I cant imagine Henderson being a big ppv draw.
And I agree that Frankie should get a rematch. He deserves it. Anytime a fight, especially a title fight, is this close there should be a rematch.
Was that asian ringside/round girl the homeliest looking thing or what?
I wonder if Goldberg's "the beautiful Ariani" is a soundbite. If it isnt, it should be. The guy says it at least 100 times an event. When they show the girls, a button can be pushed that says "the beautiful Britney".

"superman punch"
"[insert fighters name] with the jab"
"it's all over" etc.
Plus he speaks like yoda. I feel bad for him when he makes his usual stupid comments and Rogan just leaves him hanging. Bet you he feels pretty awkward in those situations.

Funny thing is I wouldnt want any other two guys to call the UFC fights. For the goofy stuff they say, they're pretty good.mullet_head wrote:"superman punch"

Damn, the next ppv wont happen for close to 2 months.
That's a long wait.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Mark Hunt is awesome, even if his record doesn't reflect that. Other than Yoshida and McCorkel, all his losses are to extremely legit competition (Overeem, Fedor, Barnett, Mousasi) He has an even tougher chin than Nelson (IMO) and he can knockout anyone standing. I actually think he'd have a good shot at beating JDS, but his shitty sub defense and cardio won't get him a title shot. He'd most likely lose to Mir, Werdum, or Nog.mullet_head wrote:If you haven't seen Hunt before check out his fights against Crocop, both the k1 and the Pride one, for starters. In the first one he survives the then lethal Mirko's high kick to the face and stands up like he's used to it.tin00can wrote:
Hadn't seen Hunt before this, and was fooled by his size. I'm getting ready to jump on his bandwagon now.

In the second one he takes high kicks, axe kicks and never stops going forward, even puts Mirko running from him.

Best chin in the business along with Shogun's.
First round is missing here, but you can find it with a google search.

He is awesome, I'm a fan. His atomic butt drop is the funniest move I have ever seen in mma, would this shit be legal in the UFC?
And I hear you about the record, but some all-time greats like Couture also have shitty ones.

I find it interesting that the last two main events were such close decisions that a lot of people argue that either person won, I'm glad that Jones is headlining the next Pay per view, his only career decisions were his first two UFC fights, one against Bonnar who is nearly impossible to finish. He really seems to have that warrior mentality of having to finish people.

Frankie Edgar Wants a rematch-
I agree with everything he says.
Halt any talk about Frankie Edgar moving down to the featherweight division. Fresh off his unanimous decision loss to Ben Henderson at UFC 144, the former lightweight champion says that he's staying right where he is, and that he wants an immediate rematch.
"Known for his soft-spoken style outside of the cage, Edgar made probably the most impassioned demand of his career in a Wednesday interview on The MMA Hour. After noting that he had given rematches to both Gray Maynard and BJ Penn, he said that he expects the same treatment after a close loss.
"I'm saying it, and I'm saying it loud: I want my rematch," he said. "I'm not going to have these antics or play these games. I'm telling you want I want. This is what I want. I think it's fair. I think the fans want to see it. It was fight of the night. Listen, even if these guys want to see me get beat up, I do get beat up in a lot of my fights, even in the fights I win, so it’s win-win for everybody." "

I agree with him too. He, of anybody, deserves a rematch, considering he had to fight Penn and Maynard back to back both after winning his title, he really does deserve and immediate rematch.yeahbuddy wrote:Frankie Edgar Wants a rematch-

Problem for Edgar is that Henderson will be a different fighter in the rematch, he'll come in loose and fight like he did at the end, right from the beginning. I don't think Frankie has much for him other than speed and better boxing. The fight will likely end the same way. I actually thought Frankie won the first fight, landing more strikes, but I haven't seen the stats. I have been arguing with a few people about how the fight went, and their response is always, "well, look at his face", kind of reminded me of the Lewis vs. Klitchko title fight to an extent, when Klitchko dominated Lewis for most of the fight, then go badly cut while Lewis was sort of coming back, and Lewis fans were all saying "Look at their faces", even Lewis said it in his post fight interview.

A "whatever" kind of night of fights.
I was saying to myself "this needs to be a 5 rd fight" before
Kapman got the submission. Alves got a little cocky there, and
paid the price.
Other than that, looking forward to ladies night tomorrow night.
You guys in?

I really enjoyed seeing Kampman pull a victory out from a sure defeat, that was pretty cool. That Demetrius Johnson fight, I really could not believe when I heard them read the judge's verdict at the end, no way I thought Johnson won that fight -- turns out today they friggin read the judge's card wrong, it was actually a draw and there should have been a fourth round deciding round as its part of their flyweight tournament. Serious screw-up, they now have to do that fight over. I forget that dude's name that I thought won, I just remember his nickname was "Uncle Creepy" and he rocked some kind of funky porn mustache - I enjoyed the fights and you couldn't beat the price tag.

I had the same reaction to Kampman winning...that dude kinda deserved to have a win like that as he should have won both the Shields fight and the Sanchez fights.MotorVenom wrote:I really enjoyed seeing Kampman pull a victory out from a sure defeat, that was pretty cool. Tonight Im pretty intrigued about the Rousey Tate fight....wonder if Ronda has anything else aside from an armbar and if she can take a punch.

During the weigh in Tate tried to get tough with Rousey & Rousey pushed right back. Also Tate's bf sent out a goofy twitter saying something to the effect of him wanting to kick her ass & she needs to know her place. Pretty stupid stuff.EddieVanHeineken wrote:I had the same reaction to Kampman winning...that dude kinda deserved to have a win like that as he should have won both the Shields fight and the Sanchez fights.MotorVenom wrote:I really enjoyed seeing Kampman pull a victory out from a sure defeat, that was pretty cool. Loved her afterfight interview.
I thought she had her on the first submission attemt. How Tate got out of that I dont know. But the second attempt, ouch!
Whatever happened to Daley? He used to have mad knockout skills. Since the Diaz fight he hasnt been the same.
What about the cut the asian guy had? Now that was a serious cut. And the busted nose? Get outta here!

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I think because of all the hype of the way she has taken her opponents out by that one move, and Tate didnt want the same thing to happen.BD888 wrote:I don't understand why she didn't tap before her arm snapped, she wasn't going to get out...crazy...
The way she sets that move up is incredible.
I love listening to the ringside guys announce the fight when a move like that is being made & finally executed.

Wow, that was impressive, that was a hell of a first round. What did happen to Paul Daley, he seems to have stalled and regressed, he looked dangerous there for awhile. Is Frank Shamrock ever going to get his braces removed, wore them myself for a few years but it seems like his have been on forever......

I loved the fluidity in the way these two women moved, it seemed leagues ahead of most fighters, but I guess their tiny weight is a factor.yeahbuddy wrote:I think because of all the hype of the way she has taken her opponents out by that one move, and Tate didnt want the same thing to happen.BD888 wrote:I don't understand why she didn't tap before her arm snapped, she wasn't going to get out...crazy...

Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson Says He’s One More and Done with the UFC
http://www.mmaweekly.com/quinton-rampag ... th-the-ufc
Is Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson’s time with the UFC coming to a close?
Well, after a series of messages on his Twitter account it certainly appears that way. The former UFC light heavyweight champion, who has dropped his last two bouts in a row, says that after one more trip to the Octagon he’s exiting the UFC.
And just to clarify, he’s leaving the UFC, not retiring from fighting all together.
“I will fight whoever they put in front of me, I always have, but it will be my last fight in the UFC,” Jackson wrote. “I have other things on my mind.
“I didn’t say I would be done fighting, I just said I’m not fighting for the UFC (u fight cheap)
. Said I have other things on my mind (big head).”
From the sound of Jackson’s messages, he’s obviously unhappy with the UFC for both their pay structure as well as advice they are giving him on his career.
He responded to another fan question when quizzed about why he was leaving the UFC, and Jackson stated ‘Why should I stay? I don’t need them or anybody else negative dealing with my career.’
This isn’t the first time Rampage has lashed out after a loss in the UFC. Following his defeat to Jon Jones in Sept 2011, Jackson stated he was considering a career in boxing.
UFC President Dana White threw cold water on the situation after Jackson’s initial statement because he was still very much under contract with them at the time.
“He’s under contract. He’s not boxing until… I mean, if he wants to box when his contract is up, that’s up to him,” White stated.
Jackson’s current contract situation is unknown, but if he does indeed only have one fight left on his deal, his time with the UFC may indeed be coming to a close.
Regardless, Jackson will be in the UFC for at least one more fight apparently and then he will make a decision on where his fighting future will take him.

Yes, there a number of fighters that made the UFC what it is & Dana has nothing but loyalty towards them & FG is one of them.
