Why don't we all shut the fuck up about cheating and just admit that every team has little ways it tries to get ahead, that sometimes these are against the rules and that some get caught while others don't?

The Gifted Young Athlete
An open letter from Kenny Powers to Tim Tebow
By Kenny Powers on February 7, 2012
PRINT
With football season over, we asked the most important athlete of our age to try to make sense of the mystical experience that was Tebowmania. He said yes, on one condition: that we not alter a single word of his piece. For better or worse, we agreed.

As Yogi Berra famously said, "it's like Deja Vu came all over itself again."

The more I read about Tim Tebow, the more I see similarities to my own life story. Our story begins with a young mother- to-be who wants an abortion. Instead, she mans up and has the baby, giving birth to a son-child.

This special son-child makes a life out of bucking the odds. Though neither the strongest nor the fastest, he excels at sports. Many experts doubt the remarkable lad. They tell him he throws funny, and that he doesn't have the right physique for the game. It's science, they say. He'll only go so far.

But the Gifted Young Athlete refuses to let the doubters shit in his Wheaties. To hell with science. The Gifted Young Athlete knows that he has something stronger. He has God on his side. So he presses on and keeps a good attitude, and every time he beats the odds in life he proves the experts wrong.

Next thing you know, there are folks calling it a miracle. Maybe the Gifted Young Athlete is blessed by the Almighty, they say. Perhaps he really does have a fucking angel on his shoulder.

And suddenly the experts don't look like experts anymore. By now, our hero has upset a whole lot of people. There are those who simply don't like the idea of a man being favored by God. They feel his special relationship with Jesus diminishes their own somehow. If Jesus loves the Gifted Young Athlete, what does he think of the rest of us? Bunch of assholes?

So the haters multiply, and soon the resentment reaches a boiling point. And that's when the torches and pitchforks and long knives come out. Yes, the world is given a savior but they choose to crucify him instead. Who'd a thunk it? The same old fuckin' story.

Maybe that's why Jesus likes us so much to begin with. He sees a little of himself in there.

You see, Gifted Young Athlete, people look at us and they see all they don't have. It's like, "homeboy's over there gettin' 'er done! And Jesus loves him too! Fuck that guy."

But can you really blame them? Wouldn't you be pissed? Jesus helps us win at sports games, yet he's nowhere to be found when poor people need important medicine for their kid's infection, or when they're late on a mortgage payment. Think about it. There are folks in Africa who get AIDS without even being gay. Yet here Jesus is, helping me & Tebow out in sports, just because we're maybe a little bit cooler in his eyes. It's a raw deal, plain and simple. Even though he's hooking me up, I still see it's kind of a cocksucker move on Jesus's part.

But my advice to you, Mr. Tebow, from one Gifted Young Athlete to another: don't kill yourself trying to make sense of all the madness. Just hold on to your dick and have a good time. Believe me, it's all you can do. Make no apologies, either. Those are for weak people, and the haters will hate you anyway. It's not our fault we're awesome, playboy. It's Jesus's. As the gorgeous bitches in the makeup commercials used to say, "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful."

God Bless.

Seriously.

I don't give a fuck about spygate and I never did. This whole thing is fucking retarded - which obviously is why it's been embraced by people like Pimp, P13, and Latardrocker.

All that stuff is inconsequential, it's more gamesmanship than anything else. It's been going on forever and in all sports and rarely has anything more than a psychological effect. The big point is that all teams do it and the fanboys can't admit their teams do it too. Which makes the confirmation that Indy got caught doing it even all the more funny.

Back in the 60's and 70's, Red Aeurbach used to turn off the hot water to the visiting team's locker room when the Lakers were in town. They used to dread coming to Boston Garden because they knew they were going to get a freezing cold shower after the game. Maybe a player misses a couple of free throws at the end of the game because he's thinking about that cold shower that's coming. I saw Jabbar brick 3 consecutive free throws with about 10 seconds left back in '76.

Jaworski has been fired from the ESPN 3 man booth.
Torico and Gruden remain.

News is Trent Dilfer will replace Ron, but maybe ESPN is keeping
that chair open for Peyton Manning???

Gruden should have been the one to go. While I find the entire production cringe-worthy, Gruden never, and I mean never shut the fuck up.

ESPN thinks there has to be constant yapping about nothing.

And some of the shit these idiots say, for real? ESPN isn't alone, but some of these people say shit just to say shit.

"They need positive plays here"

"They can't afford another turnover"

I wonder if they need more points than the other guys in order to win.

Rams are making the #2 pick available via trade.
Rams have decided the future is Sam Bradford.
IMO, great move by the Rams. Stick with the #1 pick of two years ago and trade the #2 pick for multiple players/picks in return.

They didn't have lot of choice with Bradford. I doubt many teams wanted to take on his contract. They should come out of this pretty well, though.

Well that contract was ridiculous. The amount of $$ "unproven" collegiate players are paid for being drafted so high is ridiculous.
All that does is tie the hands of the teams/gm.

Seattle, Kansas City and Washington appear to have the most cap room, the ability to afford signing Peyton Manning to a very large sum of money.

I would just love for him to sign with the Skins. That will allow him to face his brother twice and of course my Dallas Cowboys twice during the season.

The Indianapolis Colts released five players, including Gary Brackett, Joseph Addai and Dallas Clark Friday. Melvin Bullitt and Curtis Painter were also released by the team.

more of the story plus video in the link^^^

In a pre-draft blockbuster trade, the St. Louis Rams have agreed in principle to send the second overall pick in this year's draft to the Washington Redskins for three first-round draft picks and a second-round pick, according to a source in Cleveland familiar with the terms of the deal.

The trade, first reported by FoxSports.com, cannot be signed off on, turned in and processed until the new league year starts Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, but it is expected to become official then.

In the deal, the Rams will receive the Redskins' No. 6 overall pick, as well as the Redskins' first-round picks in 2013 and 2014. The Rams will also receive Washington's second-round pick this year in return for the second overall pick that the Redskins now will use on whichever quarterback the Indianapolis Colts do not draft No. 1 overall.

The deal was agreed upon early Thursday afternoon, but the NFL Management Council prohibited any announcement, a league source told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen. The Rams now have the sixth, 33rd and 39th overall picks in next month's draft.

This trade is huge for the Skins. For too many years we've traded high draft picks for washed up losers. Now, the stage is set for a new era of dominance. The road back to the Super Bowl starts now. FIRE UP BURGUNDY AND GOLD NATION!!!!!

This shit better work out or we are fucked. But...we've been fucked for 20 years so honestly I don't see the risk. 2015, when the Skins will draft in the first round again barring a trade, isn't really too far away. And the Skins are coming off a really good draft.

Basically it boils down to how they do in FA, whether or not this team will be any good in a year or so. Can't afford to whiff in FA when you got no draft picks.

Watch the Colts fuck this all up by picking RG3 instead of Luck.

Yes, if you consider "huge" as setting them 5 years FURTHER back.

Shanahan is a fucking joke of a coach. Therein lies the REAL problem.

"Setting the team back 5 years."

Have you not been paying attention?

5 years routinely comes and goes with this shitty team without any improvement.

This gamble is worth the risk. It's only one more first-rounder than the Giants gave up for Eli, and that worked out pretty well.

I am so thankful you were dumber than the browns and traded the farm for RG3. Now my team can get the guy I want, and the rams won't steal him.
