Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
ESPN reported Yankees are offering to trade Freddy Garcia.
Seems like the logical choice for now.
When Andy Pettitte actually starts a game for the Yankees sometime in May, someone else from the starting
5 will have to be demoted to pen or placed on the DL.
Yankees with Pettitte currently have 7 starters for 5 positions.
Tough decisions will have to be made.

Andy Pettitte has returned to the Yankess.
Joba is throwing bullpens while returning from his TJ surgery.
2 hurlers that can help the team after the season begins.

Does Strasburg have a specific innings limit this season or is he free to pitch as much as possible?johnk5150 wrote:Nationals just announced Strasburg starting against the Cubs on April 5.

I would imagine he has an innings limit. Thats kind of what fucked him originally, plus trading for Gio Gonzalez gives them more options.Machado wrote:Does Strasburg have a specific innings limit this season or is he free to pitch as much as possible?johnk5150 wrote:Nationals just announced Strasburg starting against the Cubs on April 5.

WTF!!!! I don't know much about an open dislocation of the ankle, but sounds very serious.

Kill-You need to control your boy. Bobby V is going to ruin the red sox season with his enormous ego:
FORT MYERS, Fla. -- What could possibly be controversial about a 4-4 tie in spring training?
Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine found something, objecting to New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi's decision to tell the umpires his team did not want to play extra innings. Valentine, meanwhile, had instructed reliever Clayton Mortensen to warm up for the 10th.
"It was regretful that Mortensen warmed up and we were told we were not playing any extra innings," Valentine said. "I didn't think that was very courteous."
When a New York reporter told Valentine that Girardi said he wanted to preserve his pitching and the Yankees "had a long day tomorrow," Valentine wasn't buying it.
"They had plenty of pitching," Valentine said. "Probably too long of a ride."
The bus ride from Fort Myers to the Yankees' complex in Tampa takes between 2-2 ½ hours.

According to Dr. Michael Kaplan, ESPN's medical analyst, Chamberlain will likely miss most of the season, as the injury leaves him unable to put weight on the leg for four to six weeks. A lengthy rehabilitation that includes range-of-motion and strengthening exercises will be needed.Facedown wrote:Joba was injured in a trampoline accident.
The wound in an ankle open fracture/dislocation is typically treated promptly to prevent infection before a fracture reduction is performed with plate and screw fixation carried out, according to Kaplan.

Im not too sure how I feel about Valentine. After last season a change was certainly needed. I dislike "feel" managers ( ie. Baker, Little, Girardi, McNamara [ you cocksucker] )), to top it off a lot of what he says/does is motivated by PR. Which in Boston letting your team be managed by the CHBs is certain death.Machado wrote:Kill-You need to control your boy. Bobby V is going to ruin the red sox season with his enormous ego:

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
My six year old had his first real baseball practice yesterday (they're going to keep score. Novel!). I've been his basketball coach both years so I've never been the parent in the stands before. Not being 'that dad' who's yelling to his son to listen to his coach or watch where he's throwing the ball was hard at first.

Collins is just a placeholder. He'll be gone before the Mets come close to contending again.tin00can wrote:TawnyVonJagger wrote:Going to Red Sox vs Marlins tomorrow. Anyone want me to punch Bobby V in the throat, I'll do my best.

Speaking of the Mets, Mike Pelfrey has given up at least four earned runs in each of his ST appearances. Yikes.

49 year old Rockies pitcher Jamie Moyer threw 140 games before the Rockies even existed as an organization. He's older than every pitcher that was in the rotatation for the Rockies in their innagural 1993 season.
He's older than 18 current managers. He's pitched in 14 ball parks that no longer exist.

And for all that, I tip my hat to him. I'm 40 and can barely keep up with a bunch of 6-7 year olds, let alone play pro anything (even if I had the ability).johnk5150 wrote:49 year old Rockies pitcher Jamie Moyer threw 140 games before the Rockies even existed as an organization. I just read an article that says his fastball doesn't hit 80 anymore and the hitters can't touch it. What a story that would be if he made the team.

Speaking of pitchers that are getting up there with father time,
Mariano Rivera pitched another scoreless inning today in ST.
He has now pitched 27 consecutive scoreless innings in ST.
I think, I think that dates back to 2008

It's my first time watching Kyle Drabek pitch this spring. Damn, he's getting behind in some counts, but overall he looks like a different pitcher. Very good stuff. That curveball... I shouldn't be too optimistic, I guess.

The Yankees(Yes) announcers commented that Drabek is a contender for the Jay 5th starter or will be sent down to AAA for more seasoning.MurrayFiend wrote:It's my first time watching Kyle Drabek pitch this spring.
