Nah, I think John is right. Not saying you're wrong, I think they would move them if the politicians keep fucking up. But no way do they want the Vikes to move. Those 4 teams have been together for 50 years. And the other 3 even longer. No chance the NHL wants the Vikings gone, or "want" them to be.

Re: Vikings Fans: Who Will You Cheer For When They Leave?
People tend to forget/overlook the fact that Minneapolis/St. Paul is the 15th largest TV market in the country. That puts it ahead of a bunch of NFL cities, including San Diego, Charlotte, Pittsburgh, Cinnci, Buffalo, Denver, and Cleveland.
The $$$-men at the NFL don't want to lose the 15th largest market if they don't have to. Plus, the Vikings have a huge regional draw, and remain (when competitive) very compelling in terms of national interest.
Yes, they have not won the big one, but they are an important anchor in this part of the country for the NFL. People want to write off Minny as a wasteland that does not deserve a team, and that's far from the truth.

I say let'em go. The No Fun League has more money than it knows what to do with, they could pay for the new stadium and not even make a dent in their profits. I know "sports" are a business now, but wtf? I'll keep cheering for Tampa.

If you're a die hard fan of a team, losing that team is a kick in the gut. I went through it with the Browns. However, the reality is its a business and those teams and the owners and the players don't care what city they are in. Truth.BlizzardBass wrote:I say let'em go. He sounds like a Tampa diehard, i have no clue what he is even doing answering this question.
I don't know if you can paint every player and coach with the same brush. Some players embrace the city, and don't want to go anywhere, while SOME don't care, and probably some WANt to go. Do you want your company to move across country? Hell no, that would be a pain is the ass for you.

Let me state that I am not a Vikings fan. But as a person who watched a favorite team get uprooted under shady dealings can tell you, it's not fun. I hope they stay.

That's what I fucking said, while throwing in a tame little aside about how the vikes have a pretty forgettable history, and neversurrender declared a fucking intifadah on my ass.Rainbow Bright wrote:Let me state that I am not a Vikings fan. Re: Vikings Fans: Who Will You Cheer For When They Leave?
The idea of building anew arena for the Sonics did not get alot from the people of Seattle. It wasn't that long ago that they built the Sehawks a new stadium with partial tax payer money. They were already paying for the light rail that still hasn't been built.
People didn't start to get really mad until the Thunder became good. And I liked the Sonics well before I ever thought about living in Washington.

Pretty devious, but Art Modell is a villain too. Complete liar, he is. He says the city of Cleveland forced his hand. He conveniently forgets that when Progressive Field (formerly Jacobs) and the Q (formerly the Gund) were built that the Browns were offered new facilities as well. "Not leaving the lakefront" and "not sharing a stadium with baseball anymore" was what Art said. He later said the city of Cleveland took care of the Cavs and the Tribe but not the Browns, but ol' Art was offered a new stadium along with the Cavs and Tribe. Real talk.eddie lee roth wrote:I don't understand all the fuss about what happened to the Sonics.![]()

Re: Vikings Fans: Who Will You Cheer For When They Leave?
Yep, we just need the Mpls City Council to vote yes (slim 7-6 vote last time) and the Gov. to sign the bill (he will) and it's a done deal. Mpls City Council likely won't vote until May 25.
Amazing the ups and downs this saga has taken. Seems that despite the anger over subsidizing the Vikings, the politicians knew they could not let them leave. Still amazes me that some politicians said they would not leave when the Vikings had the clearest path to LA. No stadium lease to hold them here.
Our version of Lucas Oil Stadium should be ready by 2016.
