Yeah, I can't believe that anyone would criticize the Redskins' draft, considering that they won some Super Bowls over 20 years ago. :|

I wish I could say otherwise but past results certainly wouldn't support it.

Still...compared to some teams...like the Vikings...

There's a good chance of that for sure. The window is closing on Vick who is getting older and has taken a beating.

I'm surprised Andy Reid hasn't resigned yet but he appears glutton for punishment. He should quit and a take a couple years off, I bet he'll be in good demand.

Not very successful.

They gave up 18 picks and picked 2 qbs. Somebody tell them teams pick their backups in the 6 and 7th or or pick them off the scrapheap. Fucking Shanahan. Living like it's 1999.
Actually their draft is getting good ratings from everyone. They had a lot of later round picks stockpiled. Speculation on Cousins - QB2 - is that he was a great value pick who could end up netting the Skins a 2nd rounder or two in a year or so ala Matt Shaub.

And this is what success looks like. Maybe one day you'll get to enjoy it-

Here's what success doesn't look like.

Image

Trade half a draft for a qb, then pick another one in the 4th round so in 3 years we can get a first rounder for him. But the only way that will happen is if that guy we traded 18 picks for gets hurt and Cousins has to see lots of time, even though that could backfire because RG3 will get all the reps and cousins can't be brought along properly. Or at least like every other 4th round pick.

But hey you won the Super Bowl 20 years ago. Your yeam has drafted like shit for a long time, and this will be another shit draft. MArk my words. 3 YEARS WE WILL AL BE LAUGHING AT YOU, JUST LIKE WE DO NOW.

Hey, we are Islander fans. They are basically the islanders of the NFL at this point. No playoff victories since 2000? 12 fucking years? They are entering Lions territory. They have more coacing changes in 5 seasons they have playoff victories in the last 15 years. 5 coaching changes in 10 seasons.

Success.

BPA. I won't question Mayhew with what he's done since taking over for Millen, but I'm not in love with anyone after the first pick.

Look dude, I ain't got no quarrel with you. I like the way you are all non-political and shit.

But call me p-13 all you want, say the Skins suck, I don't care. it doesn't change the fact that you are a Vikings fan, and in their long history they have never managed to win a Super Bowl. Not once.

And that simmering anger shows through in your posts. Nothing you can say can take away the joy of my Super Bowl memories, and that's the truth. If we EVER win another one...it's just gravy man.

You don't even have the potatoes yet.

My team never won a super bowl.

And your team drafted 2 rookie qbs.

I don't see what one has to do with the other. Your team has sucked for 15 years. Sucked. Been a complete mess and joke of a franchise. With a ridiculous owner who thinks he's playing fantasy football.

Your team still picked 2 rookie qbs and nobody thinks it's a good idea but you. Oh wait, even you thought it wa stupid, until I agreed.

Don't worry though, Rex Grossman is on board to mentor both of them.

Go win a playoff game.

Might be time for a Sludge sig bet.

I have a hunch the Skins will win more games than the Vikes this season.

Your thoughts?

I'll be honest with you - I don't know shit about the QB they drafted, I don't know why they did it.

But I've read some analysis of the Skins' draft, and the consensus is that this QB is a high value pick and it could pay big dividends later on. Yes it looks silly now. It won't look silly if they trade him in a year or two for a 2nd-round draft pick.

You really don't know much about the Skins' draft, and nor do I expect you to. You aren't a Skins fan. But they had a TON of picks this time around, and certainly didn't trade "half their draft." In THIS draft, they were down exactly one 2nd round pick, and they drafted a ton of people, and just signed a ton of undrafted free agents, a couple (a lineman and CB) with tremendous upside (fell off draft boards due to injuries).

So really, your analysis is way off. They didn't trade "half their draft" and come away with only 2 QBs, and the team the Skins field this season will bear virtually no resemblance to the aging and untalented roster that Shanahan inherited. There will be maybe 5 players left from 2010, and that's a good thing. I am very optimistic to see what this young team can accomplish.

Draft picks:
1 (2) QB Robert Griffin III Baylor
3 (71) G Josh LeRibeus SMU
4 (102) QB Kirk Cousins Michigan State
4 (119) LB Keenan Robinson Texas
5 (141) G Adam Gettis Iowa
6 (173) RB Alfred Morris Florida Atlantic
6 (193) OT Tom Compton South Dakota
7 (213) CB Richard Crawford SMU
7 (217) S Jordan Bernstine Iowa

UDFAs:

Here are the 12 undrafted free agents the Redskins have signed via various media reports and other sources:

Kelvin Bolden, WR, Southern Miss: 6-0, 160 lbs. Bolden was on the preseason Biletnikoff Award watch list, caught 58 passes for 671 yards and seven TD’s

Lennon Creer, RB, Louisiana Tech: 5-10, 215 lbs. Averaged 1,000 yards and 9.5 touchdowns his last two seasons.

Grant Garne, C, Oklahoma State: 6-3, 304 lbs. Garne was the big 12 offensive lineman of the year.

Darius Hanks, WR, Alabama: 6-0, 180 lbs. Just 26 receptions in 2011 in the Crimson Tides’ run-oriented offense.

D.J. Holt, ILB, Cal: 6-1, 250 lbs. Last year posted 82 tackles and six sacks at Cal.

Marcus Hyde, DE, William & Mary: 6-2, 250 lbs. At his size it appears that he will convert to an outside linebacker.

Lance Lewis, WR, East Carolina: 6-3, 209 lbs. One scouting report compared his skills to those of Brandon Lloyd.

Vaughn Metaoga, DL, Hawaii: 6-2, 294 lbs. Will move to defensive end.

Chase Minnifield, CB, Virginia: 5-10, 183 lbs. Many analysts had him as a mid-round pick but injury concerns (knee) likely cost him.

Brian McNalley, DE, New Hampshire: 6-3, 265 lbs. Had 28.5 sacks, probably will move to outside linebacker.

Michael Shaw, RB, Michigan: 6-1, 187 lb. Gained 1001 yards on 190 attempts in four seasons with the Wolverines.

Eain Smith, S, West Virginia: 5-11, 205 lbs. Mostly a part-time player for the Mountaineers, had 60 tackles and two interceptions in four years.

har har har.

So tell me about the Vikings draft. Obviously I don't know anything about it except that they fleeced the browns on one of the dumbest draft day trades ever.

How'd they do? And did they get a guy to replace Peterson, who will be out for the forseeable future thanks to the Skins?

Gerhart played great last season after he got hurt.

Hard for me to know how anybody does because I don't watch a whole lot of college football. I watch Notre dame and they have an awful defense and we picked two DBS from them, so that's not good, imo.

But they did fill needs and picked up a lot of extra picks this year and next year, and Kalil should be a can't miss guy. But you know how that goes.

Me too. I do NOT watch college football, so beyond the first round I really don't know shit about draftees. As far as the Skins go, the only difference is now I know they are actually drafting players. In the past, the team has very few draft picks because they are always trading them away for 35 year old players. The McNabb move aside that has ended.

The team is going for depth, but I would not be surprised if
RG3 plays so poorly during the exhibition season and does not start
the 1st game of the regular season.

Skins are setting up this kid for failure. He had no time to celebrate being the "franchise".

Come on now.

Cousins was drafted to be #3. If anybody besides RG3 starts the season, it'll be Grossman.

And if RG3 can't take a little competition he sucks anyway. I don't see why you want your rookie "franchise QB" to be celebrating his franchise status without even taking the practice field.

 at "set up for failure."

I could be wrong with my opinion, but you have to admit the Skins decision to draft another rookie QB in the 2012 draft is questionable.
Very possible RG3 will start the season, but will be play like Cam Newton
or Troy Aikman during his rookie season??? No telling right now.
There is a QB controversy in Washington and you won't accept it

There is zero fucking QB controversy in DC. That's absolutely ridiculous, whether or not the decision to draft another QB was "questionable."

There hasn't been anything close to a franchise QB in 20 years in DC. Nothing wrong with shoring up what has been their worst position for decades.

Aren't you thrilled the draft is over? Closer to kicking off the new season.

I can't wait to see Claiborne and Carr picking off passes thrown by the
Redskins QB of the day in 2012 :D

Just heard a Saints fan call into Chicago sports radio and say, 'As a Saints fan I don't really care about the suspensions. We don't play any defense anyway'.

I laughed.
