Yahoo's pushing a Silva/GSP catchweight fight again...

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/anderson-s ... --mma.html

Makes it sound like Anderson, Dana and George are all on board. THAT'S a fight I'd pay for. Although I don't think George would last one round with Silva.

Rumors have it that Henderson might have to pull out of fight with Jones because of an injury.
Jeez, I hope not.
And if that's true they should just cancel the entire event because it's a weak card to begin with.

Jones vs Henderson event is off!!!

Dana sounds pissed as hell. Henderson got hurt....Sonnen was offered the fight, accepted immediately. jones turned it down because Greg Jackson told him no to take it. Dana called Jackson a "Fight Killer" lol

Now, Jones is going to fight Machida at ufc 152 in September.

Dana is throwing jones under the bus bad, saying a champion has NEVER turned down the fight on short notice....

Say all you want about Chael, but that dude has NEVER turned down a fight. he was willing to take this fight with no training camp. He was even willing to fight Dos Santos after Overeen got popped.

Love how Jackson and Jones were willing to take a short notice fight against Shogun, but now that he has the belt, he is refusing to fight. Jones was just saying he didn't want to fight Machida as it was his lowest pay per view but is now willing to fight him? IMO, a fight against Chael would have sold a hell of a lot more. At this point, when there is only 8 days left until an event, what makes sense or who deserves the fight goes out the window. The only fight that would have sold at this point would have been Sonnen.

Jones is a pussy (although a champ) and this is just another reason fight fans don't like him. If he was a stud, he would take that fight against Sonnen. Credit Sonnen for stepping up.

Was writing my comment while you posted this. Yup, agree with everything you wrote. 100%.
I'm getting sick of Greg Jackson. He got shut out last week in the Strikeforce fights. Ahh, he may have won one, but his fighters got
their asses kicked.

On one hand I can see why Jones doesn't want to risk his legacy by fighting a guy he didn't train for, but Chael vs Jones would be a great fight, and a lot of fighters are missing paychecks because he doesn't want to step up.

A questionable win over Bisping and a loss to Silva shouldn't give you the right to fight the LHW champ anyway. Lots of guys in the division more deserving of a shot. Maybe the swede kid?

Did jones refused out of principle? If so, I can dig it, fuck sonnen, get him a real opponent.

Or is he afraid Greg don't have enough time to watch tapes, set up a stategy and shit? If so he's a fag.

As i wrote above, with basically a week until an event, what makes sense or who deserves a title shot goes out the window. They have promoted a fight for the past few months and honestly they have to take into consideration who can be on weight, who has been training, who can sell tickets and be a replacement that will sell. At this point, putting in someone like gustaffson(who is huge and probably couldnt make weight properly) or weidman (who offered) wouldnt make sense bc nobody knows them. They would need more time to promote and educate the general public fans.

Yes chael just lost and hasnt fought at lhw in a while....but he would be out there busting his ass to promote this fight all week. What other fighter would do that? On top of that, he would put on a fight... Even though he would get tooled. I guarantee the fight with chael on a weeks notice would sell more than the machida fight with 2 months promo. If jones was truly looking to make more $$ the sonnen fight makes more sense. Sounds to me like theres some concern chael poses problems he and jackson are hesitant to face...

Wow...what a bullshit move by Jackson and Jones!

Lets do the Pros and Cons of this decision...

Pros:
1) You got to keep your belt for an additional month.
2) You get to fight someone who yu get to train for...who you already beat(Machida)

Cons:
1) You`re the Champ...you arent supposed to fear anyone, and as your own best supporter, you should always be ready to put your ass on the line...this isnt how you do that!

2) Probably not a smart move to piss off the President of the company by making him and the company tank and ENTIRE PPV event...thats Millions of lost $$$...

3) Way to look like a weakling with no self-confidence in the eyes of the general public...your fans as well as your enemies...each of which pay your salary.

4) You just cost no less than 12 other fighters their pay days...pay days that arent nearly as lucrative as yours. Pay days that could have given them an opportunity to gain sponsorships(added income) that could have moved them from part time training to full time(pro entry level to pro full level) This may even cause the Jackson school to lose stable fighters they already have, as well as any students who were looking to go there...meaning lost revenue for the trainers and coaches...

Yeah...not a real smart move. I would have loved to see Jones vs Sonnen! Chael would have came in and just said "fuck It" and threw a shit load of punches...hoping for a lucky strike while trying to keep out of Jones ginormous reach and off the ground.

The bottom line is that sometimes you have to take one for the team. Jones definitely did NOT take one for the team, & screwed over a bunch of people. I hope Machida beats him. I think he can.

no longer jones vs machida at 152...

now it is Jones vs Belfort.

Apparently Machida stated he wanted more time to prepare for the fight. Not sure why they just didn't go with Sonnen for 152.

Isn't this the second time Machida was asked to step in & turned down a fight?

I understand why Jones said no to Sonnen, but if he is such a great fighter, a fighter like Sonnen should be no problem.

What do you think will be the crowd's reaction when Bones Jones is introduced next time he fights?

what's your problem? Sonnen is a little crybaby. Let's look for the guys that has the footwork and punching power to get that one lucky shot and take Bones down.

What makes sense for you and me as fans or the UFC as a business isn't necesserely what makes sense for Bones.

I'm disapointed that now I don't get to see Hendo knocking his ass, and I wouldn't mind watching Chael get an ass whooping, but like you said it's a fucking week, Hendo got injured, it's not Bones fault, and it's not his fault that the card was week as fuck to begin with.

He shouldn't have been put in such position anyway. He doesn't want to fight Chael Sonnen with 8 days notice, it's his right and frankly I don't see the big deal. Sure he comes off like a pussy, and he's probably shooting himself in the foot, Dana holds grudges, but this shit happens in sports like boxing all the time and you don't see the promoter thrashing the champ for it.

Fuck it, I hope Belfort blitz his face.

That's funny! Although he needs to tone it down. Its starting to come off
too much like wrestling or some sport that is more entertainment than an
actual sport. The good news is Chael is a definite company man & if Dana
tells him to put a lid on it, he will.

I kind of agree that Chael comes off as petty, but without his mouth, would anyone think him worthy enough for any titleshot, whether at middleweight of lightheavyweight?

That interview with Winkeljohn is funny. Sonnen just fought Silva like what a month ago? I have no doubt that it's a likely possibility that Dana knew that Dan was hurt and may have given Sonnen a tip of the hand that he would be offered the fight ...or that Team Quest kept it on the down low so that their own team member can be the fill-in.

It just goes to show that Jackson/Winklejohn do not have the confidence in Jon to be able to adapt. They don't even have the confidence in him being able to make the right decision and show respect to his opponents...they have to tell him to "go make some fans". His "apology" did not come across as sincere in any way. It's no wonder his own publicist quit.

Once the excuses start you never look good, especially when your already in the shitter.

The question I have is how many fight fans love Jones? I dont. Even before this, I didnt like the cat.
I will say I am more of a fan of the sport than the fighters. I'm a big fan of the Diaz brothers. Although Nick says some stupid stuff, but always brings the fight. And Nate is all about the fight. I think Nate will beat Ben Henderson. I'm a big fan of Donald Cerrone as well. The guy loves being in the ring. I loved the expression on his face when he made his way to the ring & the look on his face when he heard the crowd's reaction to him was priceless.
Anderson Silva is in a league of his own. Other than that, it's about the sport to me.
Oh yeah, Rory Mcdonald seems like a terror. Oh yeah, Junior Dos Santos is a class act as well.

Anyone watched the OneFC event? Some cool finishes, Arlovsky lost a fight that he actually won, and Baroni finally got to finish someone. If you didn't watch here you go.

Nice to see Tim Sylvia get kicked in the face.
