I would guess that most fans have no idea what is going on with Liverpool because they don't care.
Never heard anything about FSG ignoring Liverpool.
Fans were pretty fed up before today's deal.
killeverything wrote:We're pissed about it. What? Why on NESN are you showing soccer games? Nobody gives a fuck. Especially about a team that's not very good. It just makes me hate this ownership group more.

I can't believe the Boston/LA trade is happening. I thought it would take longer to clean up Epstein's shitshow. Good luck Cubs  I think including Crawford is a mistake though.

I was watching the Seattle game last night. They were on a 9 game win streak, and then to have Wilhelsom blow your 9th inning rally? I would be pissed, but at least he's not as paid as Pappelbon.
Yep, I hear ya's. I think they underestimated the job needed to clean things up at Liverpool. Although not a Liverpool fan, I do read some of their fan sites, and although they are pissed off a bit they never mention the duel ownership as an issue.

Happy to see em' go.

2007 doesn't happen without Beckett and that guy made a career out of making the MFY his bitch. I will always love him for that. Unfortunatley he's at the end of his career. He'll be eaten alive in the NL West too not establishing his 4 seamer.

AGonz? Bye. Whatever.

Hate losing Crawford.

Just what the doctor ordered, WE FINALLY REPLACED LOONEY! And with a big bat! If Beckett can pull it together which should be easy enough at Dodged Stadium LA will be hard to stop if they have any gel. The batting order is stronger then it's been in a long time. The trade took me by surprise. And to think I was excited before.

Clemens threw 3+ innings giving up one hit and shutting out the opposition in his Sugarland Skeeters start. He'll be throwing for the Astros before the year is out. I guarantee it. Holy promotional stunts Batman.

A 50 year old pitcher? No he won't. Clemens' ego won't let him come out of retirement ( again ) to be pounded by major league hitters. Remember when he came out of retirement ( again ) last time for the MFY? Without PEDs he was barely a #4.

There's a huge difference between facing the Skeeter's competition and that of, oh let's say the St. Louis Cardinals

Plus I'm not sure if MLB would allow it at this point in the season.

His fastball topped out at 88 MPH.
Good enough to get indy league hitters out, but he'd get destroyed in MLB. He's no Greg Maddux, he was a power pitcher.
A proud Steve Jones nutswinger since 1977.

Yes, Clemens would almost assuredly get ravaged by MLB hitters. BUT, it *might* put a few asses in the seats @ Minute Maid Park just for the novelty factor alone. And the Astros are in DIRE need of a few people to show up for some games. That place is a fucking GHOST TOWN (and for obviously good reasons). So will they try this out for the gimmick/hopeful attendance increase alone? Who knows @ this point.

Also, his "success" last night, while verifiable by what he did on the field still remains to be seen. What I'm getting at is basically, how did he feel TODAY? If he was extremely sore, how long will it take for him to recover?

I mean, this does not necessarily have to happen before the remainder of this season is over. I really do not see the Astros selling a large portion of season tickets/their attendance woes increasing by much next season.

As for MLB putting a stop to it, according to Buster Olney (at least I *think* that's who it was) while watching the Sunday night game of the week last night, made the comment that he did NOT see MLB stepping in and interfering with it in any way should the Astros/Clemens pursue such a thing.

Guess it's all just wait and see what happens from here, but I sure do know I would LOVE for him to join the Astros before the end of the season (and before they're through w/the Reds for the season) so I could watch my Reds hit that fucker into oblivion.

Everybody would hit that fucker into oblivion. Which they have for years. He got really good again in Toronto ( *cough* roids ) . When he was needed in 2005 the White Sox knocked him out like they were Dave Steward. The roid monkey has been choking in the big game since '86. Replays on ESPN blame Buckner ( the score was tied ). I blame Clemens for game 6. Always have, always will.

The Reds are tough, unfortunatley Dusty Baker is the manager...and I thought Valentine sucked. If they make the playoffs, they'll be out in the first.

Try to respond in one paragraph.

This Boston team might be the 1st time in decades that has chosen to fire "the players", instead of firing the manager.
Will be interesting to see how many more current players are suspended for conduct detrimental to the team before the season concludes.

Happy to read Boston is starting from scratch. That will basically eliminate them from winning for at least 2 additional seasons.

Depends on who they play in that 1st round. Dusty does a lot of shitty things, but his players fucking LOVE him and I think that makes 'em play that much harder. I'm 50/50 on Dusty...it's a love/hate relationship I'm probably going to have to get used to though because I seriously doubt he's going anywhere. And I would rather have him vs. Valentine ANY FUCKING DAY. You keep Valentine. We'll keep ole arm-killer Dusty.

As for responding in ONE paragraph. I can't do that. Don't you already know this by now? With all the "scoldings" and "worst poster on Sludge" comments that have been directed towards me? C'mon.

Awesome.

The reason I don't think Cincy will make it past the first is age. I don't trust Arroyo and Chapman's a rookie. I thought the Central would be closer all around though too.

They're one of those team's that's right on the cusp though, so too speak.

Arroyo IS hit/miss, I'll agree w/you on that. But here lately, he has been dealing. And I love Cueto and Latos. As for Chapman, I don't care if he is a rookie or not, I don't think that is going to play ANY part for that guy. He LOVES high pressure situations and more often than not, he gets it done and gets it done big time.

Having said that, their BP overall HAS looked a bit weaker these past couple of weeks. I'm hoping that gets shored up.

My main concern is their some times shaky offense. That seemed to be a much more pressing issue early in the yr. vs. lately though. And oddly enough, our offense seems to have gotten much more evenly spread since Votto went on the DL. Sheesh, we're already up 3 - 1 on Wade Miley in the top of the 2nd. I was concerned about getting runs off of this guy, but so far so good and Cueto's our starter for the night.

And (now in my FOURTH paragraph) - what the FUCK has happened to the Nationals? 5 L's in a row. Wow.

I think, like what I was harpin' on your Reds about it's their youth. They're probably exaughsted, mentally tired, etc. I know that's a very "Joe Buck-esque" level of half assed analysis and like Joe Buck, I didn't watch the games.

There is just a lot to be said for this occurence, especially for a team possibly lacking veteran leadership ( see: Seattle Mariners ). That's my guess.
