Yep. I am so happy that I gave up my Blackhawks tickets this season. It was a fun 4 years, though.

Re: The official NHL thread
They sold a ton yesterday when they went on sale. If the games aren't played they're going to refund everything but the ticketmaster charges. I'm stunned ticketmaster is still paid even if the games aren't played.Bob Sacamano wrote:johnk5150 wrote:You can't cry small market poor and hand out hundred million dollar contracts in Columbus and Carolina. Just imagine how much money they will make just in the interest they have on the books for the time before the refund the money.
I am not poor by any means, but I am not rich either. $5000 is a LOT of money for me to drop for a year of tickets. Especially when I am not sure if the games will be played or not. If the lockout is long, and/or the quality of play goes down, I will probably be able to get season tickets in a few years anyways.

Another lockout will spell death for the sport. Hell, it's cult status as it is now. Real fuck-ups running the league.

Not sure about death, but it will hurt it. Although if it does get a few teams contracted and a few other moved, it might be a positive in the long term. I am sure that the season will start by January 1.

That little sawed-off runt is ruining the game. He needs to return to wherever he came from and hand the job to a good old Canadian hockey player like Bobby Orr
It's a long way to the top, if you wanna rock'n'roll!

Report:
Canucks and Canadians rosters could be put on a list for referees to crack down on diving.
The Canucklehead that is credited with requesting the list be started? Kevin Bieksa.

D Keith Yandle has stated he would love to play for the Bruins. He's from the area and the Bruins are actively looking for an all-star defenseman to pair with Chara.

Wow. That is pretty expensive for a guy like Doan. That definitely doesn't help Phoenix's financial situation.

Re: The official NHL thread
B's sign Lucic for 3 years/$18 million. Wow. That's about $70 million committed to 3 players over the last week. And Jeremy Jacobs is close with Bettman.
I wish somebody from either the NHLPA or Bettman Posse would propose a 65 game season with playoffs starting the week after the Superbowl and ending in mid-April. Late September- early Feb season. There's so many reasons why that would make sense and grow the sport in the long run. Player health, viewership, on ice product and on and on. Give the owners a little more of the pie for losing 17 or so games in the regular season. I'm sure the players would love it. NBC would love it because they would own the post Super Bowl slot. The regular season would be more exciting.
And get rid of the divisions and just list the 32 teams with top 16 making the playoffs. With a loaded regional schedule based on locations.

So Gonchar & Malkin have signed on with the KHL for the entire season. What happens if everything gets resolved and there's still a season?
