Re: Fuck these replacement refs!!!
OK, so the NFL was able to ALMOST pull off this charade for three weeks.
We saw the cracks in week one, things got weirder - and worse - last week. And this weekend was a complete disaster.
Fuck the scabs. Fuck the NFL. They are greedy cocksuckers and the refs clearly DESERVE whatever they are asking for.
The scabs are fucking lowlife scumbag scabs who are scabbing it up at a discount for the NFL. The scabs and the NFL deserve each other. It's fun watching them both humiliate each other ever weekend.

Re: Fuck these replacement refs!!!
Wrong, wrong, wrong. The regular refs are the greedy ones and the ones to blame for this whole mess. They're already guaranteed to make over $200,000 per year for a job in which they work one day a week for about 5 months out of the year! And yet they want more? Who are the greedy ones again?Crazy Levi wrote:OK, so the NFL was able to ALMOST pull off this charade for three weeks.

What's more, is that the economic issues aren't even the sticking point anymore. The NFL has stated they're willing to compromise on the salary issue, if the refs will accept the operational changes. These are designed to improve the game and make the referees take more responsibility for their actions. For example, the NFL wants to be able to "bench" refs that perform poorly, and replace them with another crew. The refs are against it! So they want a big raise, and they also don't want to be evaluated and they don't want to face the consequences of poor performance. Sounds like bullshit to me.
What's funny is, last year everyone was complaining about the refs and asking the NFL to demand more accountability from them. Now the NFL is trying to get that done, and they are taking a public beating for it.
I't's also laughable to blame the replacements. They are simply out there doing a job and trying to do their best. Let's not forget, the regular refs have cost many teams games as well. Remember Hochuli in Denver?

The real refs are worth every penny they are asking for, and benefits.
Without them, the league is a joke. I don't care how hard the scabs are "trying," this isn't the fucking special olympics.
Maybe that's good enough for you P13, but I expect better. I guess that's because I'm an actual football fan, not just a Colts/Manning fan.

Re: Fuck these replacement refs!!!
I would agree with you if the regular refs were really that good. But they are not. I've seen too many missed calls, inconsistency, and blown games. I don't mind them getting the raise, but I don't want the league to cave in on the performance issue. If they're really worth all that money, they shouldn't have a problem with it.Crazy Levi wrote:The real refs are worth every penny they are asking for, and benefits.

Bull fucking shit. The regulars do make mistakes, sure. But nowhere NEAR the level of fuckery and ineptitude that these hapless shitheads make. The fact that you're siding with the league on this shows what an incompetent moronic troll fuckwit you are.

Re: Fuck these replacement refs!!!
No, actually it shows that you have no idea what is going on and are totally ignorant on the facts. You don't know what the issues are in this labor dispute. You don't know what the refs are demanding. You don't understand the issues at stake. I'm siding with the league because in the long run, that's what is going to benefit the game. I want to see more stringent evaluations of officials, and I want to see poor performing refs being taken out. That's the way it should be and that's what the NFL is fighting for. If the NFL gets that done, it will mean better officiating in the long run, which is good for the game. That's what I'd like to see. You, on the other hand, are siding with a group of people that wants a huge raise, and doesn't want to be evaluated or held responsible for mistakes that they make. I don't see why you or anyone else would support that. Oh yeah, it's because you're a fucking idiot.TawnyVonJagger wrote:Bull fucking shit. The regulars do make mistakes, sure. Re: Fuck these replacement refs!!!
There are good crews and bad crews. The good crews deserve what they make and are obviously head and shoulders above the replacements. Hell, in my opinion Hochuli is actually one of the best refs out there. Mistakes happen to everyone, and at least he owned up to it afterward. But his crew is pretty consistently good. There are others, like Ron Winters, who are routinely horrible, inconsistent, and need to be weeded out. That's why I'm in favor of the NFL's proposed system of monitoring referee performance and disciplining those who don't do their jobs well. I don't see why ANY NFL fan would be against that.Heenan Snuka wrote:anybody that watched this weekend's games can see the real ref's are worth what they makepoizond13 wrote:No, actually it shows that you have no idea what is going on and are totally ignorant on the facts. At first I thought the new refs would be passable, but the mistakes are starting to multiply. More importantly though, they're losing any authority they might have had. Even when they have a passable game, players and coaches will second-guess the hell out of them because they've lost their respect.

I'm eagerly awaiting Meriill Hodge's opinion on this.
That's the only opinion that matters to P13.
Pass interference calls are up 50 percent over last year. And these refs do not know the rules.
Anybody with any respect for the game has to be disgusted right now.
Anybody backing the scab refs and the NFL is a fucking retard - it's as simple as that. Holding a grudge on a past "blown call" is the pettiest, lamest thing someone can do when forming an opinion on this matter.

Fully agree with this. Nice to see a sportswriter FINALLY call a scab a scab.
It's been kid gloves with these lowlife "replacement" scumbags and it's nice to see someone finally tell it like it is. I have no idea how this got past the editors at the Fox News...err, I mean, New York Post...but I guess even they are sick of this joke:

So how do you like your league now, Roger Goodell?
How do you like this fraudulence that your stubbornness – and the greed of your henchmen owners – has brought, and wrought? How do you like the fact that in the Parthenon of pro football commissioners, you now officially reside south of Vince McMahon?
AP The Seattle Seahawks beat the Green Bay Pakers Monday on a contested touchdown that brought further scrutiny to the league's replacement referees.
Your scabs have now bled all over your product. Congratulations. The end of the Seahawks-Packers game brings to a head three weeks of insufferable incompetence, three weeks of a growing, simmering, percolating issue that was bound to blow up at some point. And now has.
Right there, in an end zone in Seattle, one of your scab referees was ruling touchdown for Seattle’s Golden Tate. The other was ruling interception for Green Bay’s M.D. Jennings. (While nobody bothered to notice Tate’s blatant push-off). The left hand, literally, not knowing what the right hand is doing.
And all of them, the whole crew, getting it wrong. Giving the Seahawks a win they didn’t deserve, giving the Packers what might be the worst loss since the ’72 gold-medal basketball game. Straight out of the XFL.
How do you like your league now?
If there is one benefit to come from the outrage of this calamity, it is this: unless Goodell is even more of an empty suit than he appears, unless he chooses to spit in the face not only of his league but of the fans who support it, this has to be the end of this ruinous, hideous lockout.
AWFUL CALL BY REPLACEMENT REF RUINS MNF GAME
LATEST EXAMPLE OF NFL REFEREE MADNESS
Which means the only motivator that seemed to be looming – a player with a broken neck, a crushed vertebrae, a lethal brain scan– may be avoided. Maybe you don’t blame the scab refs themselves, even though they’ve willingly taken jobs of union employees who were locked out (not striking, remember).
Whatever. This has to end now. Has to. Look, if the players were inclined to militantly support their union-brethren refs, they could opt to boycott the games – and forfeit their paychecks. Little chance of that. Fans could boycott their Thursdays, Sundays and Mondays – and the suicide pools, fantasy leagues and betting slips that go with them. Less chance of that.
No. Until just before midnight this morning, it was clear that Goodell and his merry band of billionaire mercenaries were perfectly willing to play hardball as long as necessary, they’ve proven for three weeks and counting that they don’t care about the game’s integrity, so long as we in the addicted masses continue to consume it.
The growing lists of crimes and misdemeanors perpetrated by the scab refs weren’t enough to move any of them off this arrogant hard line. Bill Belichick’s postgame dash to grab a referee after Sunday night’s Pats-Ravens disgrace wasn’t going to do it. The running narrative of Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth in that game wasn’t going to do it, nor was the depressed tone of Jon Gruden’s voice last night as the scab refs in Seattle slipped on one banana peel after another.
No. The iron-headed league and its ham-fisted leader, Goodell -- a man whose professional mission is clearly to supplant Gary Bettman atop the list of worst commissioners, all-time -- have proven throughout this rock-headed ordeal that they will not be swayed by outrage, by buffoonery, by the mishaps that have grown to ransack their game. They are unmoved by the scabs’ inability to grasp the game’s complex rules, or to even ponder bending in compromise to end this disgrace.
Until early this morning, it seemed only the prospect of blood on the field – and therefore on their hands – would make then listen: when one of these games raged so out of control, extended so far beyond the scabs’ reach, that a player left a field with an iron halo attached to his neck. This is a violent sport, patrolled by violent men. Nobody can legislate about injuries that occur in the moment, not even the real refs.
But what we’ve seen are games that have descended to lawless anarchy because you can’t force respect on anyone. Certainly not scabs in zebra stripes. So maybe this will spare Goodell that. Maybe the cartoonish picture of one scab ruling touchdown, and another scab ruling interception, can finally force the right thing.
It isn’t about credibility anymore; that lies in tatters. Now it’s about saving face for Goodell. Both of them.
What is your reaction to the ending of the Packers-Seahawks game?
The replacement refs need to goIt was a catch!Too bad - you can't blame officials for wins and lossesI'm mad at the NFL for allowing this to happenThe regular refs weren't too good, either

The NFL is big business, and makes money hand over fist. They should be able to hire the refs full time and give them benefits so the refs can train and prepare for the games the same way the players do - working out, attending meetings, and watching film so they can stay with the speed of the game.
It's long past the time where it's just a matter of the refs showing up on Sunday and then going home. The NFL makes roughly $9B in revenues each year. Clearly they can afford the less than $15M it would take to have 70 full time refs making $200k plus benefits - we're talking about 0.17% of all revenues to ensure the integrity of the game.

A handful of the scab refs who have marred the NFL season with a series of blown calls are washouts from the Lingerie Football League, according to a report.
The bra-and-panty league confirmed that a couple crews now working NFL games couldn't hack it on their girly gridiron and were fired, Deadspin first reported on Tuesday.
"Due to several on-field incompetent officiating we chose to part ways with a couple of crews which apparently are now officiating in the NFL," the league said. "We have a lot of respect for our officials but we felt the officiating was not in line with our expectations."

Sportsbook.com not charging people that bet Green Bay. I didn't play the game last night, but that's a classy move by them. Good PR to get some juice flowing because gamblers are staying away.

Wow...I knew the scabs were boobs but...

I love how you and every other idiot supporter of the refs ignores the fact that I already stated, numerous times, I don't mind the refs getting paid. I don't mind them getting their benefits. The good ones should. My problem with them, as stated over and over again, is their desire to avoid performance evaluations and discipline. Seems like you idiots keep ignoring this fact, because you can't defend it.SkyDog112046 wrote:Are you fucking retarded? They're already guaranteed to make over $200,000 per year for a job in which they work one day a week for about 5 months out of the year! And yet they want more? Who are the greedy ones again?Crazy Levi wrote:OK, so the NFL was able to ALMOST pull off this charade for three weeks.
The NFL is big business, and makes money hand over fist. They should be able to hire the refs full time and give them benefits so the refs can train and prepare for the games the same way the players do - working out, attending meetings, and watching film so they can stay with the speed of the game.
It's long past the time where it's just a matter of the refs showing up on Sunday and then going home. The NFL makes roughly $9B in revenues each year. Clearly they can afford the less than $15M it would take to have 70 full time refs making $200k plus benefits - we're talking about 0.17% of all revenues to ensure the integrity of the game.

To: NFLRA On-field Members
From: NFLRA Negotiating Committee
Let’s first acknowledge that whether we are working under game pressures on the field or the negotiating pressures of constructing a new CBA, we do the same thing – remain calm even in the face of adversity. We are not focused on "winning" but are committed to doing what is right and fair.
So, let’s recap where we are. There are basic differences in what the NFL and NFLRA see as fair on three issues: (1) overall compensation; (2) administrative issues (e.g. dispute arbitration, personal conduct policy, additional officials, etc); and (3) retirement benefits.
Our position has been from the beginning, and dovetails with what the League told us in the beginning -- that the 2006 CBA negotiations were fair, and should be used by both sides as a framework for completing a new CBA without incurring labor disputes. The key elements of our mutually agreed upon CBA in 2006 included the following:
* Overall officiating compensation (excluding retirement benefits) was $12.5 million in 2005. In 2011, it was $18.6 million, an increase of about $1 million per year since 2005.
* The 2006 CBA contained provisions that the NFL could hire additional officials (above 120), provided the League added proportionally to the overall compensation pool for each official added (they’ve done this – the staff is at 121 right now).
*The 401(k) benefit plan for officials (in effect since 1994) would continue with a League match of up to $3,750 per year per official (unchanged from 2001).
* The defined benefit (DB) pension (in effect since 1974) amount was increased by $65 per month for each year of an official’s service, capping at a maximum of 20 years, a reduction from the 22-years maximum specified originally in 1974.
We have been negotiating with the League since October 2011. The last face-to-face meeting was held on Saturday, September 1, and resulted in the following exchange:
* The NFL offered to add $1 million per year over a 7-year term to total compensation (including retirement benefits)
IF the NFLRA would agree to freeze and terminate the existing DB pension plan and move immediately to their proposed 401(k) type defined contribution (DC) plan.
*The NFLRA countered by offering to reduce by $1 million the overall compensation (excluding retirement benefits) "ask" over a 5-year term
IF the League would negotiate its retirement benefits demand and other issues.
The League refused to discuss our counter-offer; instead, returning to its "take it or leave it" position.
So, how far are we off? Let’s take a look at the numbers to see:
* Based upon the September 1st discussion, if both sides agree to put $1 million each per year on the table for overall compensation (let’s leave out the retirement benefit for now), then we are only $250,000 apart for the 2012 season. We are also asking for yearly increase in overall compensation of about $1 million per year (just like the 2006 CBA) over the next five years. The NFL wants yearly increases to average less than $500,000 per year over the next seven years.
* The retirement benefits issue is a lot more complicated. Here are the FACTS about the League’s proposal:
* The NFL paid into our pension plan $5 million per year from 2001 to 2005, and $5.3 million every year between 2006 and 2011, with the exception of 2010, when they paid $6.3 million.
* By the League’s own calculations, ending our current DB benefit today would cost them $5 million per year for several years but declines to $0 by 2016.
* The NFL’s modified 401(k) DC plan proposal cuts their contribution from over $40,000 per year per official under our existing DB plan to only $12,750 in 2012 ($1.6 million in total) and rises to only $18,250 by 2018 ($2.3 million in total).
* Here are the FACTS about the NFLRA’s current retirement benefits proposal:
* Keep the current DB plan for those officials now on staff, and raise the monthly benefits by $55 per month (less than the 2006 CBA amount)
* All new hires would come on board under the League’s proposed DC plan, which would involve an NFL contribution amount of $38,500 per year for each new official.
* When you do the math, the total cost of the NFLRA split system retirement proposal is estimated at around $7 million in 2012 (about the same cost as the NFL’s proposal), and the annual cost to the NFL would decline over time to around $5 million per year (almost the same amount the League has spent every year on our current DB plan over the past 10 years).
SUMMARY: All of this comes within the context of a reported 50% increase in NFL revenues from 2006 to 2012 and another huge increase beginning in 2014 with the new TV contracts. How can what we are asking for seem unfair in the world of NFL economics? If we got EVERYTHING we are asking for (that would cost each team less than $100,000 per year), we would still be getting less than we got in the 2006 CBA.
The NFLRA Negotiating Committee remains willing to meet with the League to discuss and reach a middle ground on a new CBA so we can get back on the field. Our goal is to reach a fair agreement for both sides, like it was done in 2006.

Re: Fuck these replacement refs!!!
NFL refs don't make 200,000$ a year, thats maybe what they want
i thought they made around 60,000$
http://www.therichest.org/sports/nfl-referee/
The average salary that an NFL referee earns per year nests between the sums of $25,000 and $70,000. This is not as much as the referees for others like the NHA and NBA make. The umpires in Major League Baseball make around $141,000 annually. The NBA referees make around $128,000 annually and the NHL officials earn around $139,000 annually. By looking at these sums, individuals will see that the NFL referees are at the bottom of the charts when it comes to the amount of money they earn. However, one has to consider the fact that an NFL referee works one game a week, while referees in the other sports work multiple games per week. The job of NFL referee required flexibility and go through training before match.

Ref's have been bitched at in every sport from the dawn of time in every era. It lead to replay and I hate the boring delay of replay. Everything from the immaculate reception, Seattle getting robbed in the superbowl to the fucking Tuck Rule...Bad calls are always expected. Today's replacement ref's remind me of football 20/30 years ago. I kind of like it while at the same time it's a joke. If they become more consistent I'll be fine with it.

There's nothing to address. I already said numerous times, I don't have a problem with the refs getting their financial/benefit demands. That includes their pension. I never said they were in the wrong on that.WTF wrote:Cum gargler, why don't you address what I posted above?poizond13 wrote: I love how you and every other idiot supporter of the refs ignores the fact that I already stated, numerous times, I don't mind the refs getting paid. What you, or anyone else, can't and won't explain is why the refs refuse to take any agreement that includes fair performance evaluations and possible discipline for poor performance. You people seem to ignore it like the plague, even though it's one of the main issues they are bargaining about. So tell me, why can't the refs be evaluated on their performance?

It has been PROVEN that this is not the same game with the scabs. The NFL needs the actual, real union refs. All other conditions are secondary.
What the fuck should I care about their evaluations and performance? Those are just bullshit tools the NFL wants to use to fuck with the refs. It's got NOTHING to do with quality officiating or the integrity of the game.
Are you so retarded that you don't understand that? The NFL has PROVEN that they don't care about that shit.
It's just a bunch of greedy billionaires trying to fuck with their workforce - same as any other corporation. This needs to end now, and the NFL needs to cave, or postpone/cancel the season. Continuing as is is a fucking joke.
I can't WAIT till the Colts get fucked by one of these scab crews. It's going to be absolutely hilarious seeing you contradict EVERYTHING you've said about refs over the last month. Another page for the MARK MY WORDS thread.
