Re: NFL 2012 Thread
Dallas game was so frustrating last night.
The game was there to win and the team could not come up with the big plays when it counted the most.
Why does a guy like Orlando Standrick put himself in a position to make a play and fail to do so? Once was bad enough, but a second opportunity was just awful.
The falcons were able to run down the clock to a point where Dallas had very little chance to score a game winning TD.
I know to date Dallas has played the toughest schedule in the NFL and the schedule for them only gets easier for the remainder of the season, but at 3-5, the team has dug themselves a huge hole that might be impossible to escape.

I'm surrounded by fucking NY Giants fans here and nobody else is going to do it.
I am excited about attending the Cowboys/Eagles game in early December, in Dallas. Can't wait to visit the Death Star, and watch two almost as pathetic teams as the Redskins duke it out for second to last place, in the amazing techno-football palace Jerry Jones has created.

Hall of Famer Bradshaw was describing Reggie's play during yesterday's halftime highlights show on FOX NFL Sunday -- when he spewed, "Look at this Jimmy, like he was chasing that bucket of chicken that the wind was blowing the other day."

The whole calling a black guy a monkey thing is just another thing to take your eyes off real racism. Has Reggie Bush complained? I'd bet he doesn't give two shits. All the white people do though.

Will everyone just leave the venerable old dumbass alone?
Or will this escalate into an old school Jesse Jackson shitstorm?
Honestly, it's not exactly a slow newsweek, with the election and Sandy and all. My bet is this one pretty much evaporates, as it should.

I dislike the Giants with a passion, but I don't want to see someone
get hurt intentionally.
That being said, this hit was "very clean".
Nothing dirty about the vicious hit on Cruz
Ref blew the call. Flag was for hit to the head. There was no hit
to the head.
Why can't replay be involved here to prove the ref made a bogus call?

Anybody else who said what Rush said would've just had to make a public apology and it would've been all good.
Rush is a hypocritical assbag nobody but the rich fucks he's protecting like. Terry is a funny old former NFL QB that most people at least think is a decent and normal guy. Howard Cossell got run off for calling that Alvin Garrett a monkey even though he called Mike Adamle the same thing the year before. he was alos known to call his grandkids monkeys. Because they hated Cossell. Not me, I loved him. But his bosses hated him. meathead probabaly hated him too.

a) I love Cosell. A little before my time but clearly the greatest sportscaster ever. Why do you have to keep assuming things, politically, just to push your agenda? It's very sheep of you.
b) Cosell WASN'T "run off." Get your history straight you big buffoon. He didn't apologize, he stood his ground, and he wasn't fired.
But hey, just invent whatever you want to suit your political bias, as usual.

LOl if you think he wasn't run off. I never claimed he was apologized or got fired. why would i think he would apologize? he didn't do anything wrong. You don't have to be fired to have been run off. Especially in that business.
You keep on believing he left because he stopped liking football. He most certainly was run off. Whether it was said or not, everybody knows that did him in.

And he quit doing Boxing around the same time. I guess that's cause he was "run off" too by the liberal elite, not that he was disgusted by pro boxing? He also kept working for ABC for a couple of years after that. He called the fucking 1984 Olympics, which is my first actual memory of him.
Your contention is that the "liberal media" ran Cosell off because of his little monkey statement, and that simply isn't true. He survived it, and retired because he was sick of it, was old as fuck, and didn't want to deal with assholes anymore.
You are entitled to your opinion, but I don't appreciate when you assume shit about me and state it as fact. I apologized to you for doing the exact same thing - even if it was a mistaken identity - and I'd appreciate the same respect. Not that I'll get it.
I'm sure you'll try to convince me next that I didn't actually like Cosell.
And who are you voting for, anyway

He stopped liking football.I suggest you dig a little deeper than wikipedia, Meathead. And what does Howard have to do with politics? i don't even know if he was left, right or in the middle. But i know he didn't quit on his own.
Howard was "pushed out" and back in 1983 when this occured, ABC had not choice but to ask Howard to leave the booth.
I firmly believe what Howard said in his book, that he used the term "monkey" basically quite often around his family, kids, grandchildren, etc...
It was not meant a a 'racist' comment.
There are many racists in this world, but back in '83, Cossell was not one of them.
His poor choice of words on national t.v. cost him a job.
