Yeah, "pushed out." He finished the season, didn't he, and then continued working for ABC sports for 2 years?
He was most certainly asked to leave the MNF booth. It's been documented in books, movies from people who were actually there. and of course the media helped push him out. But it didn't take much. His bosses hated him.

Not exactly a luxury afforded to Jimmy the Greek.
It was not the 1st time Howard said "little monkey" on t.v. when describing
a pro athlete.
For Howard those words were a term of endearment and nothing else.

THIS may well be true. And maybe there is a disconnect here. He wasn't pushed out "because" of the lil' monkey thing, he was pushed out because his bosses and co-commentators on MNF didn't like him.
The monkey thing was used as an excuse.
My point is that this kind of thing is survivable, if you aren't actually a racist prick like Limbaugh. Cosell DID survive - he was no pariah, and continued working as long as he wanted to. As late as 1993 he still had a radio show.
And Bradshaw will survive. I don't think this story has legs at all, nobody really gives a shit about it. I hope.

Yeah, tell me something I don't know.
That's in his book, as well as his wiki entry.
What the fuck are we arguing about anyway? We all like Cosell as far as I can tell, and don't think he was a racist. Nor do we (I assume) think Bradshaw is a racist.
The only question is whether or not this story has legs and becomes a problem for him. I already stated that - especially in this busy news cycle - nobody is really going to care and the story will go away quickly. I just thought it was funny how bloggers/newsers are attempting to escalate this story through increasingly pointed headlines.

i also read his book. so what are you debating again?
oh yeah, whether or not Bradshaw is a racist? probably, but i also think he's a dumb ex-jock that should know better.
his poor choice of words should put him on the street, in search of a new job, but given his track record of stupidity, the public might give him a break.

So what should you calling him colored get you? i'd bet most blacks hate being called colored way more than hate accidental chicken remarks.

i have an idea.
take a poll. be sure to get at least 100 participants
and report the results here when you're done.
That's not my point. why are you allowed to make a mistake on what you call black people, but Bradshaw who is from the south, can't use a southern phrase even black people use?
Just curious on why it's different for him and you.

1-i am smarter than Terry
2-i am not from the south where racism still exists at a very high level
3-i don't work for Fox or appear on national t.v.

How nice of you to bitch about prejudice all while you generalize whole sections of the country. That's almost as bad as claiming Bradshaw should be fired for saying a chicken remark while you call black people colored.
I live in the southeast. You will have to show me where this blatant racism is at. With the exception of some cops profiling, which happens in all states, I just don't see it.

i'm sorry, but i can't go on and on about how/why the south is the most racist part of this once great country.
i have a "white" friend that has called Atlanta his home for 20+ years and quite often he communicates just how racist the south is & remains.
just take a look at this map and see all the red, yeah, those are white folks voting, not minorities voting there.
in the previous 40 years, minus '76, '92 and '96, those remain red states for a reason.
stereotypes are true for a reason. because those events happen & continue to happen.
See what I'm talking about about how shit like this takes away from real racism? Machado has now turned Bradshaw's chicken comment into a political discussion and about how republican's are racist. I think. I didn't click the link.
What funny is Boston has always been considered racist as hell, but their state is blue as the sky.

I've lived in the South half my life and the midwest half my life, I've heard the N word and more derogatory things said about blacks way more here than at any point when I lived in the south.

The only overtly racist place I've been is the TN - MISS border, and the blacks were just as bad as the whites. Those are the most ignorant bunch of fucks I have ever seen in my life. I saw shit there in one weekend I've never seen in 40 years and going to 40 other states.
The name of the town is Booneville. A little west of Tupelo. Christ that shit was crazy. i went there to visit a chick I met in my town. I never went back. They had a big race fight after the high school football game that weekend. Last i heard they don't even have a team because of shit like that.

There's racism everywhere, but I agree that it's more prevalent in parts of the Midwest. Put it this way, you don't see NBA teams in southern cities making sure they have a predominance of white players like you do in some Midwest cities. It doesn't take a PHD to figure that one out.
Also, Southern people are around blacks more often than most places in America. Sooner or later you figure out it's how your raised, not what color you are. Growing up in NY, all the black people in my town lived in one part of town and it was one percent blacks in a town of 3,000 people.

I grew up in charleston SC, Hampton, VA, and Key West. The schools I attended were at least 80% black. In charleston If you were white you had to watch your back my brother got jumped by 6 gang banger wannabes just for talking to black girl. Here in the midwest It's N****r this N****r that!!, granted I think they feel more comfortable saying that shit with not alot of blacks around, but I was shocked at the level of racism in comparison When Ifirst moved here.
Enough about race. Nobody, with the possible exception of Machado, thinks Bradshaw is a racist, and I'm pretty sure all of us (again excepting the Yankee / Cowboy fan) hopes this thing just goes away. Back to football. Texans are 7-1 and haven't played their best football yet. Fuck yeah!
