Re: NFL 2012 Thread
The Bears are better with Cutler. Remember what happened to them when they lost him last year? He's not an elite QB and he's prone to boneheaded play sometimes, but he's a lot better than their backup. Frisco might be just fine without Smith. It's a battle of defenses anyway.AliceManson wrote:johnk5150 wrote:Bears/niners should be interesting with no Cutler or Smith on Monday.

Re: NFL 2012 Thread
What are the expectations? Playoffs or he's gone? He's got a rookie QB and the team is playing well. If they narrowly miss the playoffs firing him seems dumb to me. My team went through that a couple of years ago. Everyone was screaming for Kubiak's head but the owner got a real D coordinator instead and stayed the course. They won their division the next year and now just one season removed they're one of the best in the league. Sometimes patience is the right choice.

I can't post the link because I'm at work, but Yahoo Sports is reporting that Chicago just signed veteran backup QB Josh McCown.johnk5150 wrote:Bears/niners should be interesting with no Cutler or Smith on Monday.
The funny thing is, the headline read, "Bears sign veteran QB McCown", and I thought they were talking about Cade.

There are major calls for Pioli and Crennel to be gone. I doubt they keep Romeo, even if he does pull out a win or two. It is painfully obvious that Haley wasn't the problem behind the Chiefs losses. They are a team running amuck. One needs to look no further than that stupid display of showing off and idiotic penalties in the MNF game.Crazy Levi wrote:Romeo might be on thin ice in KC, just a hunch.sin wrote:How many teams are there this year possibly firing their coaches? The Chiefs will never land a good coach until Pioli is gone.
His formula for the Patriots will never work in KC.
They need to start from the top and work down, some saying Cassel has been given enough chances and since the season is pretty much a wash they should start Quinn, since he's cleared now or Stanzi and see what they can produce because Cassel is not working. He's not a starting caliber qb behind that o line. But until Hunt starts seeing a loss of money, he's not budging right now even with his team being a league laughing stock.
There is talk of a fan boycott/blackout at the game Sunday against the Bengals.

Jets have nobody to blame but themselves for creating the "distraction" we all know
as Tebow.
The team had no business acquiring this below average player when their very own QB was an average NFL QB at best.
If Tebow was as good as the hype/publicity that constantly surrounds him, he would be a starting QB and winning more games than not.

I'm no Tebow fan, far from it. And I don't think he's a good QB. But Tebow is the least of their problems. He barely even plays. He's a backup QB. So blaming him for the Jets failures is pathetic and cowardly. The Jets players need to look themselves in the mirror if they want to find the problem with that organization.

If you knew anything about the game or played the game yourself, you would understand that Tebow is a major distraction on that team.
Sanchez is certainly gaining more and more criticism for his play because the team sought out Tebow as the back-qb, only igniting the fans enthusiasm for a very good year under the Tebow/Sanchez regime.
Show me an NFL team that has success with a 2 QB team? That's what I thought.
Those teams are few and far between.
The fact that Tebow hardly plays the QB position for the Jets only makes
the situation worse for him, the team and eventually Sanchez.
Mark was never going to be a great QB, but his chances of succeeding were knocked down several notches once he was forced to look over his shoulder every single
week of the season.

Re: NFL 2012 Thread
Big game this weekend in Foxboro. It's a new era in this rivalry. Brings me back to the early days, going to Foxboro on those wintery sundays to face their defense which seemed impossible to beat. Those were always hard fought games, though they didn't often go in our favor in those early days. Even in Peyton's best years, that was one of the defenses that always proved a challenge to beat, up until 2006. It was extremely frustrating because they seemed to have our number. Which made it even sweeter when we beat them in the 2006 AFC Championship on our way to a Super Bowl victory.
I look for this to be a tough game, obviously. Could be a shootout. It's a good match up for us on offense, as we are a passing offense predominantly, and NE has one of the worst passing defenses in the league. So I look for Luck and Wayne to have a lot of success against them. Defensively, we're without our two starting corners, which will be a problem. They're going to move the ball against us, no doubt. The key will be keeping them out of the end zone and limiting them to field goals. We've also got to shut down their running game and let Freeney and Mathis get after Brady. It won't be easy but I think we have a chance to win this one.

Re: NFL 2012 Thread
If YOU knew anything about football, you'd know that any team's failure or success has almost nothing to do with a backup QB who sits on the bench, unless the starter gets injured. If Sanchez had any balls at all, or enough skill to play the position, having his job threatened would only make him a BETTER QB. But that is not the case, because Sanchez is not a good QB, period. Doesn't matter who his backup is. He lacks the ability to make the right decisions on the field, and makes poor plays too often. Has nothing to do with Tebow. If he's too "distracted" as you say, then he literally has no business even being on the field.Machado wrote:

And guess what? People were screaming for Sanchez to be benched far before Tebow came in. This went on for most of last year, too. Sanchez is just not a quality starting QB in this league, regardless of who his back up is.
Sure bringing in Tebow was a mistake, that was obvious from day one. But he's far from the reason for their failings. He's only a distraction if they make it a distraction, which they're doing with they're cowardly comments today. The Jets have no one to blame for their miserable season but themselves. Blaming a guy like Tebow, who plays a handful of snaps per game at most, is pathetic.

Holy shit, I actually agree with P13 on this one. It's not like Tebow is the only distraction, lets see, their loud mouth coach who's always running his mouth when his wifes feet arent in it has always been a distraction, Sanchez going balls deep in eva longorias crusty snatch was a distraction, trash talking players week in and week out when they've won jack shit makes them look even worse, Oh poor fucking jets.

And I also agree with P13...the Jets are a hot mess right now, and Tebow's the least of their problems. He's a handy scapegoat to hang all their failure on.

Tebow hate is awesome, even when he doesn't play he's the reason for 3-6
Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"
Re: NFL 2012 Thread
P13, it should be a good game. My Pats defensive secondary is awful. Devin McCourty is even less effective at safety than he was at cornerback. If that's possible. Please come back, Patrick Chung. At least he smacks people.
I would take Tebow in a heartbeat if he consented to playing a postion other than QB. Great athlete with a great attitude. Jets are stupid to not find a way to use him.

Yeah I hope it's a good game. If we don't get pressure on Brady early and often, it could be a long day. It's interesting that we have ex-patriot Darius Butler starting at CB. I wonder if Brady and Belichick will make it a point to go after him.WTF wrote:P13, it should be a good game. My Pats defensive secondary is awful.
