Jsut re-watched the main event, that was unsettling.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I wonder what hurt more, the actual punch or the way he landed. His head, neck, & shoulder took the impact hard.BD888 wrote:Jsut re-watched the main event, that was unsettling.

I thought it was a fix at first till i watched it again. I don't know where Franklin goes from here, he's quickly becoming the new Forrest Griffin. He'll never get his desired third fight with Anderson Silva now.yeahbuddy wrote:I wonder what hurt more, the actual punch or the way he landed. Yeah it was.Pimp_From_The_Grave wrote:Bloodbath!
The thing that gets me is other than that 40 seconds when Condit tried to finish him, GPS mauled him the entire fight. GPS is a machine.
Condit now has to go to the back of the line & work his way up & maybe get another chance. I was never a big Condit fan, and still not. I hated the way he fought Diaz and besides that lucky shot tonight, he is a bit above of ever maybe being a champion. I thought waiting for GSP was a bullshit move. He should've had to fight one more time before GSP.
Personally do not want to see a GSP vs Silva fight. It would be such a huge fight that where would the sport go from there?
Thank god the the main event & the Hendricks knock out happened, the rest of the night was turd. That Hendricks ko was something else. Has GSP ever fought a guy that could hit that hard? I think not.
Can't wait for the Fox fight, stacked beyond stacked. Wow!
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I thought most of the fights were good. The Lawlor fight was a little boring but the rest were solid. I was surprised at how good the main event was.
I'd like to see how Hendricks does in a fight that goes past the first round. Love the guy though, and hope he gets a title shot soon.

Fucking WOW!! GSP vs Condit was fucking killer. GSP was the clear winner, but goddamn! Condit put on a hell of a fight. I didn't expect it to go the distance. Impressive showing by both.

GSP's legs look like Benson Henderson's now. friggin huge. Went to see the fights at a local movie theater. Was pretty cool to see it on the big screen. Just wish there were better fights on the undercard. Was disappointed Kampmann lost, but was expected as he always gets caught. GSP showed that he can handle adversity and, overall, was just too much for Condit. The main event maid up for the lackluster undercard, ,,,not including the comain

What about a Nick Diaz vs Johnny Hendricks fight?
That would be a good one.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Great Main Event.
Condit has a very good guard. I was surprised that GSP has so much trouble passing Condit's half guard. Great fight. I feel if GSP uses that GNP tactic of throwing down the punches and elbows when Anderson has him in full guard or open guard, he's going to get triangled. He kept trying to pass leaving that arm outstretched, and I think Anderson would just suck that in and triangle or triangle arm bar him. I don't think GSP will be fighting again for another 6 months at the minimum.
I really enjoyed that fight. I haven't enjoyed a GSP fight that much since his first fight with BJ Penn.

Did anyone see the post fight press conference?
GSP's face was as torn up as Condits.
90% of the questions were for GSP. He's very interesting to listen to, and his take on things are interesting as well.
It was a great main event. Gotta be up there with fight of the year honors.
What other fight this year has been as good? Can't think of one.
And yes, Hendricks is right up there with KO of the year award. That was something else. I watched the fight again, and one of the instant reply angles showed how perfect that shot was. It also helped the Kampman's chin was in the perfect spot to be hit the way it was. The stars aligned on that ko.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
^agreed. GSP showed chin and heart by surviving that head kick and GNP. I really hope that superfight happens, there's really not much left for Silva to do in his division, and GSP is young enough to where he can have the fight and still go on to defend his belt a few more times. If the fight is to happen, it needs to happen soon before Silva is out of fighting age.
I definitely was not expecting Kampmann to get KO'ed like that. I was expecting him to get battered in the first and then capitalize on Hendricks being tired in 2 and 3 and pull out a 3rd round KO. Hendrick probably couldn't do much of anything to GSP, but if he hit him with that left it'd probably be over, kind of like how Henderson would have little chance agaisnt Jones but if he connected, it would spell doom.

that agreeance was to BD888, but yeah it was definitely in the top 5 fights of the year so far, but I think Marquardt/Woodley has it beat for the top spot.

Did Condit's knockdown kick really touch GSP?

Indeed it did. Left a nice little goose egg on the side of his head.FullDJacket wrote:Did Condit's knockdown kick really touch GSP?

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
During postfight conference he said he never saw it coming. He said he was having issues with right eye. When you watch it again you can see right before the kick lands GSP is blinking his eye.slash4pres wrote:Indeed it did. I gotta say that was a nice kick. His position & the way he threw it came out of nowhere.

On the one replay in slowmotion it looks like the kick didn't touch GSP's head.

It did something because GSP almost lost because of it.FullDJacket wrote:On the one replay in slowmotion it looks like the kick didn't touch GSP's head.
The more I think about it, that was a great fight.
It reminded me of the Shogun vs Henderson fight. Both fighters bloodied & battered, going for it for the entire 5 rounds. There was one moment in the 4th that Condit looked like he was fading, but he got it going again.
GSP never took his foot off the pedal.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
It looked like a glancing blow from most angles, but it left a huge mouse on the side of his head, so it must have made a fair impact. GSP recovered really well though. I don't think he ever looked groggy, but had to really defend Condit's GNP for a minute or so. GSP wrestling always gave him the upper hand on the ground. Maybe not so much if/when he fights Hendricks.
I feel an ASilva vs. John Jones would be more exciting than A.Silva vs. GSP, but I'd like to see either fight. I am starting to feel that A.Silva will win either of those fights.
Currently I'm getting excited for Penn vs. MacDonald. I always worry about BJ Penn gassing, but he's looking in good shape. He's been training a long time for this fight, as documented on his website, and I think he knows this is the last time he'll get taken seriously. I don't see where Penn goes, unless GSP drops the title or moves up, there aren't really any super fights for him at Welterweight.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I agree. I would rather see a Jones/Silva fight. Silva is the Michael Jordan of mma x 10. What he does is amazing. It was embarrassing what he did to Bonner. Those kicks he has done to Bonner, Sonnen, Belfort, & others are beyond amazing. His placement is crazy.BD888 wrote:It looked like a glancing blow from most angles, but it left a huge mouse on the side of his head, so it must have made a fair impact. GSP is a stud, but in a whole entire different manner. He knows he isn't the most gifted fighter so he works his ass off to become what he is. The guy is a machine.
I want to see Jones put in his place. He was lucky that Belfort loosened up when he heard something pop. If Belfort would've completed his move, Jones arm would've been a mangled mess.
