Just read that the Angels signed Ryan Madson. Good luck to ya Ryan, us Cincy fans hardly knew ya.

Also, Andrew Baily is being shopped.

Assholes is being nice.
Such a travesty that the HOF has not yet elected Marvin into their precious HOF.

Usually that's right, but Buck O'Neal still is out. After Jim Rice's controversial ( and upon further investigation wrong ) induction, everyone gets in now. That's why we have guys like Ron Santos being enshrined. You no longer have to be elite, just really good.johnk5150 wrote:Machado wrote:He will be now. What Miller did was change the business aspect completely. The players were constantly getting fucked by the owners ( Charles Comisky says "hi" ). This also led to the introduction of the free agency claus being struck down nine years later. Which is both a good and bad thing.
Here's an alternate take from Carl Yasrzemski's auto "Yaz: Baseball, The Wall And Me":
"This will change players and teams forever, and not in a good way."

Looks like the Mets gave this guy way too many years and far too much
money.
That team/franchise is going to regret the signing in about 3-4 years from now.
It's almost impossible for any player to live up to the large sum of money with a contract like this.
Playing in NY is already very difficult and the media are like vultures.
AMAZING!

Interesting trade, I like it because it has the same potential for both sides. I'm not expecting Hanson to be anything more than a serviceable #4/5 pitcher and he could exceed that. I'm guessing the Braves don't expect much from Walden other than to be a serviceable bullpen arm, and he could exceed that AND they got some salary relief to boot.
Also, from that perspective: Hanson replaces Ervin Santana in the Angels rotation, and they save about $8 million in the process for essentially the same pitcher. Now they have to get a few more arms, hopefully including Greinke.

Anytime the Braves let someone go be weary. Especially concerning a prospect. Suerholz's scouting and player development system is unparalleled. I would be nervous.tin00can wrote:Facedown wrote:Braves trade Tommy Hanson to Angels for Jordan Waldon.

I understand what you're saying, but all we need is somebody to be a #4/5. Hanson should be that.

Guess they overpaid so as not to have to give him a 4th year.

Report:
A-Rod got hurt in the playoffs and will probably need another hip surgery and will be out until at least June.
The hip is not the one he already had surgery on.

What a blow.Facedown wrote:Report:

The hip is not the one he already had surgery on.
Now all the fans fully understand why his power numbers went down so much late in the season.
Surgery set for Jan 2013. Recovery time is about 6 months. ARod will miss about 1/2 the season.
Yankees are very, very desperate to find depth on the left side of the infield.
Eric Chavez is an option, but he's not an everyday player due to his own physical limitations.

Ken Rosenthal is reporting this regarding ARod:
after one of Divising Series games, Arod had to be taken to emergency room and spent night there.
