I'm sure they sound good. My little Vox AD30VT sounds really good for a hybrid modeling amp. Uses a 12AX7, but not as a preamp - as a miniature power circuit with a virtual transformer. Very inexpensive amp that sounds really good - the AC30 model, as you might expect, really does sound like an AC30. The Modern British (think JCM900) is a good crunch/high gain channel, and if I need more gain than that I apply my SD-1 used as a clean boost.
The later VT series are MUCH more prone to failure, but the ADVT series are relliable workhorses - fewer models, but how many of each type do you really need? 11 models are more than enough to cover the spectrum of clean, bluesy clean, classic dirt and modern high-gain. Good quality effects too.
Actually I run the line out of my AD30VT into my Jet City JCA20H head and that is probably very similar in sound to the DT25 and a lot cheaper. Fewer models, but again, I have an AC30 model, a Fender Twin model, a Plexi model, a JCM900 model and a Recto model - do I really need anything else to get the basic cool sounds? The AD30VT was $99 used and the JCA20H was $249 brand new. Like the Line6/Bogner alliance, my Vox/Soldano alliance is made in China but of decent components.
The Line6 is for sure a sexy amp, just out of my budget range at $749 at GC, so I am glad I can do something similar with what I already have!
