David Price stays with the Rays on a 1/10m deal. That's a nice little raise for winning the Cy.

Lance Berkman signs 1 year deal with vesting option to DH for the Texas Rangers.

Mariano say's knee is 95% ready. Good, as I've stated before I hope the greatest closer of all time gets to retire with fans in opposing stadiums on their feet.

Good update on Mo
95% now most likely means he will be 100% by the middle of ST.
The guy basically creates his own schedule during ST and has deserved the right. I think he needs about 10 IP in ST for his arm to be in shape.
AMAZING!!!

HOF voters are idiots. They punished everybody this year.
Biggio should be in.
Piazza should be in as well.

A lot of writers turned in blank ballots in protest. I agree with Biggio and he'll get in, but it's pretty rare for a player unless they're someone like Gywnn, Yaz, etc. to get enshrined on the first ballot. BabefuckingRuth didn't get in with 100% of the vote even.

If Barry's career didn't go the McGwire route he'd be in today.

Don't you think Piazza deserved to get in today? I certainly do.
His numbers as a catcher are off the charts. To my knowledge, he has never been linked to PED's.

Found this earlier. Can you believe the nerve of this writer? Who does he think he is? The man should be terminated from his job right away

Rick Hurd of the Contra Costa Times, won’t vote for any first-time candidate who played in the steroid era, regardless of whether the player was accused of using drugs. Hurd considers reaching the Hall of Fame on the first ballot to be baseball’s highest honor and he doesn’t want to bestow that on anyone who might have cheated. That being said, Hurd expects to vote for Bonds, Clemens and Piazza next year.

Piazza is a surefire HOF'er no doubt, but not first ballot. The only ones playing today that are first ballot are Jeter, Rivera and Pujols ( presumabley ).

Upcoming the only player that is 110% no reason to be skipped his first year of eligibility is Ken Griffey Jr. Followed closely by Frank Thomas and Pedro Martinez. I wouldn't be surprised to see both Thomas and Martinez skipped the first go around though.

Thomas is eligible next year. If that fool does not get voted in, you know he's going to personal crush every writer that did not vote for him.

Griffey Jr is definitely a 1st ballot HOF.

I still believe that Piazza deserved the votes today. His stats as a catcher are off the charts!

I thought Piazza was linked to PED's, not as much as Bonds, Sosa, Big Mac etc but I remember his name being brought up perhaps unfairly, not the only rumors that guy had to live with either. But Yeah him and Biggio should've gotten in, I think Mike is being punished this year for what so many of his era did.

Just say it
There have been rumors for years that Piazza is gay.
Who cares?
I sure don't care.

Why the voters/writers/or the public cares so much about someone's sexual preference is ridiculous.

Maddux, Glavine and Thomas all get in next season I think. Biggio is on the compiler side as a player to me so I'm glad he has to wait. With the votes he got, has a good chance to get in next season though as those that follow the HOF nonsense know, a lot of voters will begrudge putting in so many players so he may not. Jack Morris has a decent shot too with it being his last year on the regular ballot.

Maddux, as one of the best ever, was good enough that he deserves a spotlight but it's pretty cool that he and Glavine go in at the same time. Wouldn't mind seeing Rivera pitch a couple more seasons and he and Jeter wrap it up at the same time and go in together though again, Mo deserves his own moment where it's all about him.

2013 Hall of Fame ballots

Voters are not required to make their Hall of Fame ballots public, but this is an aggregation of BBWAA members who chose to share their ballots here. Some include links to pieces they wrote explaining their decisions.

This. Biggio's numbers are amazing. If he's not a hall of famer, I don't know what is. I get the whole PED protest bullshit, but Biggio has never had a whiff of suspicion about PEDs and it's complete crap that he gets screwed so the writers can punish Bonds and Clemens.

Biggio will get in; many voters just have a hard on for the whole "first ballot HOF'er" thing. They seem to reserve that for very special players, despite the fact that you're either a Hall of Famer or you're not.

It's not there, but one moron voted for Aaron Sele. Guys who do shit like that should be stripped of their right to vote. Makes a mockery of the whole process. Debate the dopers, and the merits of Piazza, Raines, Biggio, et al all you want, but if you vote for a guy who clearly is NOT a hall of famer, and don't take the honor seriously, you should be excluded from the process.

Justin Upton used his no-trade clause to turn down a trade to Seattle. It was CBS Sports that first reported the package that Arizona decided was valuable enough to deal Upton: Pitching prospect Taijuan Walker, infield prospect Nick Franklin and young big league relievers Charlie Furbush and Stephen Pryor.

That’s two of the top five prospects from baseball’s second-best minor league system, plus two cost-controlled relievers. According to Ken Rosenthal, one baseball source said that Upton rejecting the deal “saved (Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik)’s job.”

Former Los Angeles Dodgers and Seattle Mariners outfielder Milton Bradley has been charged with abusing his estranged wife and faces up to 13 years in jail if convicted, city prosecutors announced Friday.

Bradley, 34, was charged on Thursday with 13 misdemeanor counts of assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism and dissuading a witness from making a report.

In addition to jail time, Bradley could face up to $13,000 in fines and restitution if convicted.

He remained free pending a scheduled Jan. 24 arraignment.

Prosecutors contend that Bradley threatened and attacked his wife five times in 2011 and 2012. He was twice arrested at the home in 2011.
