Point is if you're going to hit a guy, hit a guy, but don't step off the rubber and invite him out, particularly if he's way bigger than you. And if I were Greinke's catcher there would be no way that Quentin would have been able to get anywhere near him.
Quentin is to blame; but Greinke wasn't very smart.
Regarding upcoming games, you can be sure both teams will be supremely warned to not have any repeat incidents.

Have fun watching SF win again. Also if your pitcher would've kept his mouth shut he would be pitching in 5 days. He didn't, he got beat down and is missing a considerable amount of time due to it. The suspension levied was fair, no one owes LA anything
because Greinke's ass couldn't cash his check.
Also Boston successfully bought two rings in 2004 and 07. The West Coast Yankees ain't getting one this season.

Mouthing off sometimes can warrant a physical response. The case of Greinke vs Quinton is a perfect example.
Last night during ESPN's baseball tonight this conversation took place.
How Greinke "mouthed off" from the pitching mound in the direction on Quinton. Nobody knows exactly what was said, but if I were in Quinton's position, just knowing that Greinke said anything in my direction would set me off and force me to charge the mound in order to get some satisfaction.
This is not the 1st time Greinke has hit Quinton. But this is the first time that Quinton finally charged the mound.

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Fortunately I'm not a armchair who has to get my information from ESPN. IF, you're struck and feelings are it's intentional your pitchers are the ones who dish out pay back, dumbass. Rushing the mound isn't in either rule book, MLB or clubhouse. I love how people who've never played before read a quote or line then run like the fucking wind. Quentin tried charging the mound last time and that was in another league 4 years ago. Big fucking deal. Quentin is a plate crowder and among the leaders of being hit, he rushed because of something muttered and is now making excuses.Machado wrote:Ratt-You are out of your depth.

What did Greinke say? Who gives a shit, it don't belong on the field.
ESPN SAID! ESPN SAID!
Craig Biggio: Craig Biggio never felt the need to charge the mound after any of the 285 times he was hit by a pitch in his 20-year career, though there were a few times Biggio thought he was being struck intentionally. He trusted his teammates would help him handle the situation, and they usually did. "When you watch the game, you know what needs to be done and the time it needs to be done," said Biggio, who was hit by more pitches than anyone in baseball's modern era. "I don't know what happened last night as far as what their past was, but if you stand close to the plate, you're going to get hit, so don't complain about it."

Oh come the fuck off of it. I bet we played to the same level, it's really not that impressive unless your Al Bundy.
Batters get hit, sometimes they charge the pitcher. That's how the game has ALWAYS been played. The rules stay the same, take your base settle it on the field. If the pitcher mouths off I can see him getting attacked. I've been hit and I never got lip afterwards. If I ever witnessed it I'm sure a fight would've happened in the games I played.
What's your solution, pro? Put Quentin in for assault? Have him pay for Greinke's PTSD he's obviously going to incur? Put every pissed off hit batter in anger management? Let's vaginalize the game ( I'm not exacly sure if that's a word ). No headhunting, no lash outs, period. It'll be so fucking lame we can call it "soccer."
One more question. Where was your fucking catcher in all this? It's his job to protect the pitcher, but of course you knew that.

That's a good question, where was Ellis.....Probably still playing baseball and not expecting to play guard duty, if anyone on the planet knew if it was intentional or accidental the catcher would know first. Just look at his face.killeverything wrote:Oh come the fuck off of it. I bet we played to the same level, it's really not that impressive unless your Al Bundy.

The reason why Quentin didn't mention what Greinke said is because NO ONE heard what Greinke said, Greinke muttered that shit. If Quentin heard anything he would have told the media and the world.."He mumbled something so I charged!"......Ellis didn't think the bean was on purpose and he didn't hear Greinke mouth off (the replay shows Ellis saying "WHAT?" after Quentin got lippy) otherwise he'd been in position.
I'm just talking shit, if it happened to the Yankees or Cubs I'd chuckle a bit. Still a bitch move on Quinten's part and I stand by Quinten keeping in check and taking first, nothing justifies charging, one of their pitchers would have got payback and you know this. If this incident happened to Macho's or your team you wouldn't be in support.

Clayton Kershaw got to 1,000Ks today. He did it in fewer innings ( 970 ), than LA's previous record holder Sandy Koufax ( 990 ). He is also slightly older than Fernando Valenzula ( by like 4 months ) when he hit 1,000K.
Yesterday every MLB team did some sort of rendition of "Sweet Caroline" during the game, in tribute to Boston. Awesome.

Not good news for O's fans.
Just goes to show that every single pitching prospect is just that-a prospect.
Are there really rules that are effective against protecting
a pitcher from having to undergo TJ surgery??

The Dodgers are going through starting pitchers at a historic rate. When Ted Lilly takes the mound for the Dodgers on Wednesday in the second of a three-game series against the Mets at Citi Field, the left-hander will be the eighth different starter for Los Angeles in 20 games.
It's been 49 years since the Dodgers last used eight starting pitchers in the first 20 games of a season.
Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Josh Beckett, Chad Billingsley, Chris Capuano and Stephen Fife have already started for the Dodgers this season.
Billingsley is out for the year after making two starts and will undergo Tommy John surgery on Wednesday in Los Angeles. Greinke is out until at least June with a broken left collarbone. Capuano pulled his left calf last week and is on the 15-day disabled list.

That's opened the door for Lilly, who began the season on the DL, to make his first Major League start since May.

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
I never thought LA was the team to beat, even before the injuries. You saw what that core didn't do in Boston ( when they were the team to beat ). It's like no one had learned anything from the MFY and trying to put together a team of allstars. A billion $ and one ring to show for it. Even then it was a roided up Arod that did. Mr. March got a hit in the postseason.
I still think Agonz' shoulder is fucked. His hit charts are pretty telling in that respect. So Magic and Co. gave a fortune tied up in a lot of players and it seems like a recipe for disaster to me.
With every season it's a team's adversity to play through the injuries. I think a healthy SF is better than LA and don't care how it looks on paper. I also ain't ready to give East to Toronto, an easy choice to pick. Analysts that were should lose their jobs.

I never thought Toronto has a chance at the division title. What got me worried was all the writers picking Tampa to win the AL, cause thats like having your picture on Sports Illustrated and their early play reflects that trend. They are starting to play really well and although I didn't see it coming, if the Sox can keep their pitching staff strong, I see a Tampa Boston race for the East. The Yankees look like shite. Too many wheelchairs on the field.

Seattle Mariners 3B coach Jeff Datz has informed the team he has cancer. He'll stay on while discussing treatment options/future.
I think the timing couldn't be worse for the team. Especially considering it seems like Eric Wedge will be terminated as the manager before the end of the season, soon actually his "hot seat" is on fire. I'm all for applauding retards when they successfully tie their own shoes, but don't reward them by giving them an MLB management position. Jesus. This dumb motherfucker had Jason Bay leading off last night. Guess how many 0 for he was.
I hope Datz gets well soon. It excuses him being in the base path last night which caused Smoak to slow down and get thrown out at home. That's Dale Sveum shit right there.

Hamilton will go down as one of the worst signings ever. I've had the displeasure of watching a bunch of his ABs this year and the dude has nothing. Yeah, I know, he's streaky but he's been on a suck streak dating back to the last two months of last season. I can't recall the last time I've seen somebody look so clueless at the plate. He's totally lost. I don't have any hopes that he'll get much better at this point. And yeah, just like in the 80s the Angels are paying power hitters for their past years.
Oakland is something else, man. They shit out good-to-excellent starting pitchers like no other team. And, they own the Angels. They're a fun team to watch - their whole is so much greater than the sum of their parts.

The A's are something else. "Moneyball-celebtrityism" aside I think that Beane is able to accomplish his feats as GM since he's a former player/scout. He seems to have an eye on what's needed. That and his young players have that whole "The Little Engine That Could" dirt dog mentality. That's an org. that know's how to field winners.
I think Seattle would be better this season if Zuerednick had a better coaching/player development in place. Eric Wedge? Are you kidding me? It's pretty telling when the players go outside the organization to work on stance or pitching tweaks. I think yhis season is the deathknell for Z's FO. Genius my ass ( yes, I bought it too )....
