The Driller Killer (1979) - 7/10. I always thought this was corny, generic slasher trash and didn't expect something so gritty and original. The music was a bit much, though.

I expected an average home invasion movie and got just that.
I'm taking points off because of how it tries to preach a message, making the dad out to look like a total douche when all he's doing is trying to protect his family

Generic spoiler alert - if there really is one for a movie like this:

The first shooting is a total self defense job by the dad, clear cut.
And yet the dad is made to look like a douche and he feels the need to apologize? Stupid.
(Its as bad as in Over the Edge, when they blamed Doberman for Killing Richie White because the gun Richie pointed at him wasn't loaded).

The young son is basically responsible for everything that happened.
Not only would I have traded in the black dude for my family's safety, but I would have also thrown in my dumbass son as a bonus, just for being a stupid moron.

Although I would have some sympathy for the homeless dude initially, you really have no idea who this guy is that your letting into your house.
And he kinda losses all sympathy points when you find him holding a loaded gun to your daughters head.

And the ending was real stupid, you never give anyone a second chance to kill you.

...I'm starting to think I'm being a little too kind giving this 4 stars.

Man of Steel better be worth the wait.

Credit where it's due, Robert Downey Jr is a fucking good actor... Jude Law, not so much.

I wish they would remake one of the movies that had Basil Rathbone in them. I loved Terror by Night.
