Les demoiselles de Rochefort (1967) - 6/10. Cutesy musical comedy with Catherine Deneuve and her sister Françoise Dorléac, being hot in the last role before she croaked.

Monsters University - 8/10

Very well done. A few historical inconsistencies from the original. Still a fun movie and a good prequel. I hope it will set up a third film where some of the characters from this one come back.

Bullet to the Head: 5/10
A watchable throwback action movie. Nothing new but not objectionable. My biggest gripe is that Stallone's character treats Bulleit Bourbon like it's some rare elixir, when it's actually cheap swill.

Who doesn't.

Scream 4 - 7. A decent enough flick but not a patch on the original.

Bullet to the Head - 7/10 - Stallone plays an awesome hard-ass. Fun action flick.

42 - 8/10 - a must watch for true baseball fans.

Beat (2000) - 6/10.

Movie about William S. Burroughs, focusing mostly on when he was living with Joan Vollmer in Mexico, and a visit from Ginsberg and Lucien Carr. Kiefer Sutherland as Burroughs is surprisingly good, Joan played by Courtney Love I can't rate because I never saw or heard the real one, same goes for Carr. Ron Livingston as Ginsberg is weak. There's a spot-on Kerouac cameo, but I don't know the actor.

Definitely interesting for Beat Generation aficionados, pointless and most likely boring as hell for anybody else.

Gasland 8/10

Heard about this film soon after it's release and barely got around
to watching over the weekend.

With Part 2 debuting this week on HBO, will be nice to watch part 2 this week
and see what else Mr Fox has to offer the viewers.

Fucking fracking! Very controversial subject.

I really need to get around to watching Promised Land w/Matt Damon as well to further learn about fracking

Hesher (2011) Starring Joseph Gordon Levitt, Rainn Wilson and Natalie Portman. 7.5/10. More of a drama than a comedy but the Hesher character was still pretty funny.

Was wary of this until I saw that it's rated R. Now I'm intrigued.

Cosmopolis with Robert Pattinson. Heard there was going to be some noodz/sex scenes with him and he's fucked in the head, figured I'd watch. Tried. It was fucking horrible. Including the only sex scene I made it to. 2/10. After over an hour, I still had no fucking clue what it was about other than he was rich. 80% of the movie was shot in a limo.

Ugh, it was fine until the "twin". That was about as bottom of the barrel as you can get.

It's like a campy, fun (but way over the top) episode of the old TV series Monsters. :P

ABC's of Death on Netflix. 7/10 for the entertainment factor alone. 26 short movies. Warning: Do NOT watch them with your kid and her friend. Awkward. Very, very awkward in most of them. The Japanese are some fucked up people.

Ils ("Them" 2006) - 6/10. French indy horror flick with more of an old-school suspense feel to it than the modern gorefests. Nice look, decent acting, but still pretty average in the end.
John Simon Ritchie wrote:
Facedown wrote:I rated them as follows:

Inside - 9/10
Ichi The Killer - 8/10..It's been a while since I saw it but I remember thinking Dead/Alive type gore with less campiness.
Audition - 7/10. The extremely slow pace is made up for in the last 30 minutes or so.
Martyrs - 6/10. Major disappointment from the hype it got on here. Not bad at all but just didn't measure up. The ending was way too long.
Agree on all of those except Martyrs. Definitely about a 9 for me.
I finally got around to watching Martyrs now too. I don't see how you could be disappointed by that either. I didn't expect much because it's become such a big name, but I was in awe from start to finish. As hardcore as it is original. I don't know what more anyone could ask from a horror movie.

I'll watch it again one of these days. Watched it with two friends who I hyped it up for and they hated it compared to my slight disdain.
