Agreed, especially since he's more of a second half player.

Nate Schierholtz is rumored to be the next Cub to be traded, possibly to Pittsburgh...
I could ( unfortunately  ) see his bat waking up back in NY ( ala. the Ichiro trade ).

Bleacher Report is saying it's a done deal. 17.7m and Soriano for a 4th tier prospect. Basically Theo and Jed wanted him gone so bad their paying NY to take him. With the lack of power in the MFY's lineup with Teix and Granderson injured and Arod inbetween prescriptions I would do the trade too. He's not a 30-30 threat anymore, but he should tear up that ballpark.

IDK-
His 286 OBP doesn't exactly thrill me. Maybe he can revive his career for a few months and give the Yankees that production from the right side
the team sorely needs.

Yankees are only 3 out of a wild card slot so if they can get a bump in production from Soriano, get Jeter and Granderson back and productive and if, if, if...they have a chance to get there. Then there is the ARod factor that could help or hinder pending if he appeals and his suspension is carried over. The teams in front of them are better than they are at this point but with some guys taking off they could make a move.

Quote of the day:
"The Yankees would rather fly the Boston Red Sox's World Series flags at Yankee Stadium than see Rodriguez step on the field again."

 Holy shit they really hate that motherfucker don't they? I wonder if Arod's PEDs, bush-league play and general douchebag public persona is what made Jeter pull away from their friendship.

Last time Soriano played in a reg season game for Yankees,
this was the starting line-up, 9/28/2003

Alfonso Soriano 2B- Welcome back to The Bronx
Nick Johnson 1B-Career littered with injuries
Derek Jeter SS-Still playing and on Yankees. Over 3,000 hits
Ruben Sierra LF-Was a village idiot at one time
Hideki Matsui DH-Fine Yankee career. GODZILLA
Juan Rivera RF-Extended MLB career in So. Cal
Karim Garcia CF-Best known for his feud with Pedro Martinez
John Flaherty C-Currently a Yankees t.v. announcer
Drew Henson 3B-Threw the football just as bad as he hit a baseball

Interesting to see the names, review how their careers went 10 years later, etc....

Mike Zunino ( Seattle ) placed on 15 day DL with fractured hand. I think he's probably done for the season. Z was just drafted and burned through the minors to get called up early, like half a season in the minors early.

*edit* M's sign DFA'ed catcher Humberto Quinterno to replace Zunino.

Maybe TJ Quinn from ESPN can do a story about how
roid rage led to Ortiz getting kicked out of the O's game
and destroyed the dugout phone.

Pujols is likely out for the season. There's only eight more years left on that contract, but don't worry Anaheim you still have Josh Hamilton!

Oh wait.

I wish the plantar's fasciatis that Pujols has was contagious, and he could give it to Hamilton.

HR in the bottom of 11th for Puig. This is the best Dodger run since 1978. 26 out of 32 games. They struck out 20 times and still won.

Yankees at Dodgers for a 2 game series beginning tomorrow night.

Should be fun and I expect two very, very low scoring games.

Pettitte vs Greinke
Kuroda vs Kershaw

Brewers apologizing to their fans via a $10 voucher:
To be more specific, each fan who spins the Miller Park turnstiles during the month of August will receive a $10 voucher that can be used at the stadium's concession stands. With 12 home dates in August and an average expected attendance of 30,000, that's a roughly $3.6 million hit the Brewers are taking with this "Fans First" promotion— or more than the $3.1 million they would have had to pay Ryan Braun had he not been suspended for 65 games after getting caught up in the Biogenesis scandal.
This has been a challenging season for all of us, but the one thing that has never wavered has been the tremendous support we have received from fans who love the Brewers,” [team owner Mark] Attanasio said. “We wanted to do something meaningful to show our appreciation, and we will strive to provide the best fan experience possible.”
... Vouchers may be combined (meaning that fans attending with friends and family members, or those attending multiple games, can combine the vouchers for larger purchases) and used at any remaining 2013 home game. The vouchers can also be used toward the purchase of game tickets this season.

Tigers aquired Jose Veras from Houston for OF prospect Danry Vazquez and a PTBNL. That could be a good deal for Detroit they've been needing more BP help and Cleveland has been nipping at their heels.

Sad news also. RIP Boomer.

That's good for one and a half sausages. Miller Park's food is so much better than Wrigley it's sick and wrong. My brother and I go every year and do the sausage cycle. It's fun as shit to do that day. It hurts badly the next day.

Red Sox trying to make a push for Giancarlo Stanton, although the Marlins have told teams no. Given his low salary and the amount of control the Marlin's have, obviously it's a long shot that he's traded.

But the rumor is that the Red Sod would be willing to offer 4-5 prospects, which would include Bogaerts and Bradley.

Stanton is one of my favorite players, but IMHO the Marlin's should consider such an offer if they get it. Stanton is miserable there (understandably) and they already have Yelich and Marsinick up...

I seriously doubt that.
They have constantly stated that their top prospects are off limits.
If they do something stupid like trading them all away then they're right back to being the team they were the last couple of seasons.
This season was supposed to be a bridge year anyways and they weren't predicted to be in first place.
They are not going to win it all this year, keep the prospects.

Another "blown call" by an umpire last night
had a direct impact on the Rays vs Sox game.
I could care less who won the game because I don't have a rooting interest, but the call was terrible.

Of course the camera angle clearly showed the runner was safe.

So why was the call not overturned?
Oh yeah, instant replay is not yet in place.
And the critics continue to say that applying replay to a play at the plate
would delay the game, etc....
B.S.
Instead of getting the call right between 2 teams that are fighting for 1st place, it's accepted to let the wrong call stand and live with the decision.

Thanks Bud Selig for once again not doing your job to the best of
your ability.

See I disagree, I doubt they trade for Stanton if they do make a superstar trade it would be for someone like Cliff Lee. Plus I think it's possible they win the Division. If the SP holds up the whole thing.

The people who had them at the bottom this year are the same one's who continually underate Oakland and had "flawless" teams Cincy or Washington winng it all.

That's what I said, not likely that it's going to happen.

Also, if I'm the Red Sox, no way would I give up 4-5 prospects for Stanton, especially if they included Bogaerts and Bradley. The Red Sox need to get younger at certain positions, and moving 4-5 prospects would set them back.

But if I'm the Marlins, I'd do it. Taking into account the guys that they've already brought up this year (Fernandez, Yelich, Marsinick, etc.), they don't have any position player prospects still in the minors with a grade above 50. All of the top prospects still in the minors with grades over 50 are pitchers -- Heaney, Nicolino, and Urena. If they were able to move Stanton and get back a group that included Bogaerts, Bradley, and Swihart, they'd be golden...

I know you said that, I was talking about the rumor itself.
Every rumor has been about pitching and, so far, I have not seen Stanton mentioned once.

Cool, sorry for the misunderstanding. 8)

I heard the rumor on Fox Sports radio, but like you, everything else I've heard surrounding the Red Sox has been pitching...

Dodgers sign Brian Wilson to a minor league contract.
Angels rumored to be shopping Aybar and Kendrick.
Jake Peavy and Bud Norris have been scratched from their starts and the Phillies have called up a 3B. Young is in the lineup tonight and has said he would only accept a trade to the Rangers.

I heard someone say "He'll kill it in Fenway".
Seem to remember the same thing said about Adrian Gonzalez.
Keep the fucking prospects.

I don't think his shoulder is 100%, but man was Agonz a complete disappointment. Actually that whole team when they went "all Yankee" and tried to buy another championship was. I would rather they add another SP than Stanton personally.

And who the hell saw Wilson signing with the MFY West? I was hoping he'd stay in SF personally, he'll be booed like Johnny Damon now at AT&T Park.

Baseball is fun.

What do they need overall, though? A SP is not what puts them over the top.
Starter, closer, middle relief and maybe another bat.
They aren't getting all that without giving up a lot of prospects.
Too much to get in hopes they might get to the WS.
Stand pat. If you miss the playoffs, big fucking deal.
Pick up what you need in the offseason.
