The Dodgers 15 game road streak ended tonight in St. Louis. I figured it would there, the Cards have got to be hard to sweep at home. What I didn't expect though was Kershaw getting the loss. See I thought St. louis would take game 1 with Wainwright on the mound ( who had a QS ).

When they didn't I surely thought if they do it'll have to be game 3, because there is no way they get Kershaw. Stranger things have happened I guess.

I knew the Dodgers wouldn't sweep the Cards to break the NL's road winning streak record. Still a good run and they need Hanley back.

8/9/88. They beat the mets after being rained out against Philly? One of the beer vendors told me 8/8 was one of his best days ever as the rain delay kept the drunks in the stands for nearly 3 hours.

I went to bed the Dodgers were down 6-1, wake up and finished watching the game, they won 7-6. Unreal.

I'm telling ya,
its Mannywood all over again without Manny Ramirez.
I just wish Kemp was healthy. Damn!

I love when they win games like this & the player that did it
gets his jersey ripped off. Funny stuff!

I think this team is deeper than when they had Manny, and I'd rather have Hanley back then Kemp. It looks like he's close since he pinch hit last night.

If Hanley was healthy all year he would be in the running for mvp.
He's as important as Puig in turning this team into contenders.

A San Francisco Giants fan has apologized for throwing a banana during Sunday's game against Baltimore, claiming that it was not a racially motivated insult to Orioles star Adam Jones.

Alexander Poulides told the San Jose Mercury News that he grabbed a banana off a catering cart at AT&T Park and threw it toward the field in frustration near the end of the Orioles' 10-2 victory over the struggling Giants.

The banana evidently was thrown in the vicinity of Jones, who angrily tweeted about the incident following the game. Jones, who is black, also criticized people who apparently defended the incident and hinted that he may no longer participate in social media.

Poulides told the Mercury News that he did not intend to create an uproar and stated that he realized how his actions had been portrayed when he turned on the television to watch the news Monday.

"Oh, my god," Poulides told the newspaper, recounting his realization. "I threw a banana on my way out."
The Giants already had launched an investigation of the incident by the time Poulides contacted the Mercury News. The team told the paper that it has not been able to confirm whether Poulides threw the banana.

Poulides, 42, emphasized on multiple occasions that he did not mean to insult Jones.

"I'm embarrassed and shocked by the outcome," Poulides told the paper. "In hindsight, I wish I didn't do it and I apologize. I'm very sorry."

The AAAngels breathed life back into Texas a little over a week ago, and now they breathed like back into the Yankees.

Man, what a horrible fucking season.

I started watching sports in 1978 when I became a Dodger fan. I have never ever seen a season like this for any of my teams. It's like you just know they are going to win no matter what. The only problem is, I'm a fan so we all know they will blow it in the end.

Major League Baseball is expanding its video review process next season, giving managers a tool they've never had.

Too this from espn.com:
The owners and Bud are so un-original. They should be embarrassed by this ruling.
One challenge over the first 6 innings huh? What happens if an umpire blows
2 calls within the first 6 innings? Morons!!!! It takes more time away from the game when
a manager argues a call vs the time it would take for a replay official to make the right call.
WOW!!!

Commissioner Bud Selig calls it a historic moment for the game in a press conference in Cooperstown after two days of meetings with representatives of the 30 teams. The proposal is to be voted on by the owners in November.

Managers will be allowed one challenge over the first six innings of games and two after the seventh inning until the end of the game. Calls that are challenged will be reviewed by a crew in MLB headquarters in New York City, which will make the final ruling.

MLB vice president Joe Torre gave the replay presentation to representatives from all 30 teams on Wednesday and it was discussed Thursday morning.

A 75 percent vote by the owners is needed for approval and the players' association and umpires would have to agree to any changes to the current system.

Atlanta Braves President John Schuerholz, a member of the replay committee, says the umpires are receptive to the change. Schuerholz says 89 percent of incorrect calls made in the past will be reviewable.

It would be remarkable for them to sustain the level of play they're at now. I mean that's just unbelieveable.

Yeah, I hate the Dodgers but they're ridiculous right now. At the start of the year everything was going wrong, now everything is going right. My only hope is that they crash and burn in the playoffs - that would be sweet, what with the big heads the Dodgers fans are getting right now.

Yep, people with "big heads" always say stuff like this...

"The only problem is, I'm a fan so we all know they will blow it in the end."

You can accuse me of being happy, but not having a big head. I expect something to go wrong. I'm a Vikings fan.
