What I hope for is that Cain and Big Country win. Feeling pretty good about the former, not so sure about the latter. I think Velsaquez is just the better fighter and his cardio, for a big guy, is almost unbeatable. The only chance for JDS is a KO, like in the first fight.

Big Country is already talking about how bad his camp was, which makes me worry - excuses before the fight aren't good. That said, perhaps he's just working the media.

Saw a pic of Nelson the other day and he looked to be slimming down. I agree with Dana when he says Roy really does have the ability to be better than he is if he just took things a little more seriously.

The Melendez/Sanchez fight was incredible. Love watching Dodson fight as well, guy has so much enthusiasm. For once I actually agree with Roxxtar, Big Country is pretty much done and I was a fan of his. He just doesn't bring anything to the octagon other than taking a punch, and Cormier GSP'ed him.

Speaking of GSP'ing...dos Santos had it happen again, except that Velasquez does it standing up and mixes in some punches. That said, I like Velasquez - he imposes his game on the other fighter and it's up to them to figure him out. I don't see anybody else doing it for a while.

While I certainly wasn't thrilled with the outcome of the Cain/JDS fight (Cain is a beast) I have to say how unbelievably awesome the Sanchez/Melendez fight was. You guys are funny, saying a guy that couldn't beat the 2nd best heavyweight in the world should hang it up. So, what, there should be like 5 fighters in each division, because anyone who's not the best of the best should just quit? Divisions need gatekeepers, and Roy is still perfect for that role. We know he can't beat the likes of JDS, DC, Mir, and Werdum, but he can still clobber the shit out of the Schaubs and Mittriones of teh world.


That being said, that was a damn good night of fights. JDS couldn't do shit to Cain in 10 rounds, so I guess that punch really was lucky in their first fight. DC vs Big Country pretty much went as expected, except I thought it'd be a lot more boring. DC did great against him in standup, and did whatever the fuck he wanted with him on the ground, which is hard when you're outweighed by 25 pounds. He should really move to LHW, he'd manhandle everyone even more than he does now (how many people can pick Josh Barnett up over their heads and slam him).

Diego vs G. Mel was intense. Diego is weird, he never starts t really pick up his pace until he's bloodied to shit in the third round. He looked pretty much the best he ever has, but his best is not as good a a Melendez on a kinda shitty day. That would've been insane if he followed up with some more punches after that uppercut in the third.. Watched the Dodson fight and the Lombard/Marquardt fights, which were really good KOs as well.

Wow...JDS vs Cain was fantastic! I really want pulling for either fighter, but I did expect JDS to have more to offer Cain...but it never really materialized. Is there anyone left for Cain?

Melendez vs Sanchez was great as well, only real bad part to it was Sanchez waiting until the 3rd round to get motivated, and then knocking Melendez down and choosing to grapple instead of reigning down punches. To me, that was a stupid error on Diego`s part. He really needs to get going in the earlier rounds so that if he does go into Berserker Mode later on its not just a show...

I love Roy Nelson, but this is truly sad to watch...he had absolutely nothing to offer Cormier...nothing. I felt bad for DC having to carry Roy for 3 measly rounds. Roys time in the cage is up, best bet for him would be teaching/coaching somewhere...

Are you really a gatekeeper if you cant even beat the gate? Should you get to stay and compete with World Class fighters when you cant even be bothered to train properly and show up to fight looking like shit?

Again, I like Roy, but the facts are starting to become abundantly clear...he is riding his past and that pony is dying from the weight... Sometimes a fighter has to be told when to give it up...Forrest Griffith, Tito Ortiz, Ken Shamrock, Chris Leben and a plethora of fighters like them all, were great, but started to decline, a few left on their own, others stayed too long..Roy is in that boat now....

No, he used to be able to beat them...not so much anymore. Just because he can take a punch and get lucky with a haymaker doesnt make him worth keeping around if he is actually hurting the product with lackluster fights...such as his last 2...

I was rolling with Melendez the entire fight and then he got knocked down in the third and had to survive. That was what made the fight so great IMO. I was standing up, screaming at him to get out of there.

I was disappointed that the crowd was behind Sanchez (is he from Houston?). It was wonderful to Watch Melendez outstriking Sanchez..Melendez is an athlete and Sanchez is more of a brawler and Melendez punished him.

Nelson vs Dos Santos was sad to Watch sure but he has rebounded since....he still has the most dangerous one punch knock-out Power in the division (it's him and Dos Santos). From what I saw Nelson was trying to read Cormier's movement patterns but he couldn't do it, Cormier was too fast...

The problem with anybody fighting Velasquez is the cardio factor as NOBODY comes close to having his cardio due to their size weighing them down. I mean Overeem wold gas in 2 minutes against him and Werdum whom I love I think will gas after 2 rounds of Cain's pressure. The only shot Werdum has is while Cain has him in the clinch if he due to the height difference can work the Muy Thai clinch and land those knees like he did against Nelson.

I honestly don't know who beats Cain after he more than likely beats Werdum. i mean he won't fight Cormier due to friendship and I don't see anybody with a chance so now it's just the UFC wondering if people will pay to see him beat gatekeepers like Overeem,Browne....

On topic but off topic, my daughter has been taking MMA / Brazillian Jiu Jitsu & Kickboxing for 9 months now. She's 50" tall and 50lbs soaking wet but for some reason, the same kid who cries when her bike pedals scrape her ankles is taking OFF at this shit. She's moved up two levels (earned) already.

She trains at the gym where Shamrock MMA St. Louis started under Jesse Finney and one of her sometimes coaches is Adam Cella (shuddap....i know...i know....) from TUF. I really have nothing else to add other than seeing a scrawny little blonde girl sprawling in a real octagon.....is pretty fucking cool.

She hopes to be competing by this time next year at NAGA kids division under the wing of her fellow training mate "Battlin' Madeline Gousetis".

169's looking pretty good. UFC's PPVs have been really fucking good lately Lamas/Aldo, Mir/Reem, and Barao/Cruz is set for the event. The last stinker of a PPV was 161 which had an injury (I think Aldo vs Edgar was supposed to be on this card) and before that 151 because of the Jones/Hendo fight being cancelled.

One of my favorites, Uncle Creepy, is out of his fight with Jorgenson (spelling?) because of a hand injury and Dodson is taking his place. Man, I love watching Dodson, dude has so much enthusiasm.
