See I don't think Donnie lost because of poor strategies or game plans. He lost because he COULDN'T manage all those egos. Puig is the best example of that, the guy was benched more than once because he think's he's Willie Mays, the child like celebrations, the Maury Show attitudes. Well, whether you think he couldn't manage the egos or not, he is a moron at strategy. If he doesn't take A-Gone out for Deenothing all year Gordon, that series could have easily been a whole different series. That has nothing to do with any egos.

Tim Lincecum signed a 2/35 deal with SF today. I think it was worth the risk personally. He's probably not a Cy Young sure thing anymore, but if he learns how to pitch and not just throw he could still be pretty damn good. Through his rough two years he still had a 9 K/9 rate. Judging pitchers is pretty volatile, but I think he could still be a top of the rotation guy.

Seattle is interviewing Oakland bench coach Chip Hale for their manager vacancy after down syndrome skipper Eric Wedge stepped down.

Oakland A's? Using Melvin's model of platoon players and Beane's emphasis on OBP? Well that's great M's. I mean after all 3rd base coach Ron Washington turned out pretty good.

Here's the dilemma. A's manager Bob Melvin ( my 2nd choice for AL mgr. of the year behind Girardi ) used to manage Seattle ( the last time they won 95 games too ) and their dumbass president and CEO duo let him go. So thinking he's going to bring that "sabre" edge is assanine. Zuerednick as GM declared a war on logic rivaled only by GW Bush.

Signed yesterday! Home grown.....Foreign talent! Since Cuba and parts of Asia are basically the DODGERS!

Signing Alexander Guerrero shows Dodgers committment to foreign talent

The Dodgers made their first 2013-14 off-season acquisition on Tuesday. They have signed a new second baseman in 26-year old, Cuban second baseman Alexander Guerrero.

Guerrero defected from Cuba earlier this year, and was reported to be close to a five-year deal with the Dodgers back in July. That deal fell through, and he joined with the powerful agent Scott Boras to construct the four-year $32 million contract that was agreed to on Tuesday.

LA lost because KEY players were hurt/IR. There was questionable moves but in the end Look at the Card's batting Average up till the last game, If LA didn't have a bench full of injuries The Dodgers would have won, the cards are not all that and Boston should eat them alive.

The Dodgers did overcome the injuries to beat the Braves, who I think was the best NL team, I'm still savoring over that tomahawk shit.

Puig is a wet behind the ears douchebag....He's young. I hope they beat the attitude out of him because it would be nice to see Puig and Kemp in the OF.

That "not all that" Cards team had the best record in the NL, while playing in the Central, NL's toughest division. Way more difficult than the West ( NL's easiest division ). St. Louis led in BAA RHP and had the second best bullpen ( behind Atlanta, whom should've stomped LA ).

They're ranked 13th in BAA LHP ( ie. Jon Lester ) they played sloppy tonight, but your high if you think Boston will just pulverize them.

He's a good man for the job even if he makes a call or two I don't like. He handled the players in the dugout, can't always make them hit.

Speaking of the fag's from Boston, LA picked up a player from the Boston Maxi-Sox's today? The LA, Boston connection creeps me out. I'd like to get our trash from somewhere else.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers traded outfielder Alex Castellanos to the Red Sox on Wednesday for Minor League outfielder Jeremy Hazelbaker and cash, the club announced.

Hazelbaker, 26, hit .257 with 11 home runs, 54 RBIs and 37 stolen bases at Triple-A Pawtucket this year. He was a fourth-round pick in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft out of Ball State University.

Castellanos was designated for assignment last week to make room on the 40-man roster for Mike Baxter, who was claimed off waivers from the Mets. He played only eight games with the Dodgers, spending the rest of the season at Triple-A Albuquerque. The 27-year-old Castellanos was acquired from St. Louis in the 2011 Rafael Furcal trade.

Cards have been sloppy every other game in the playoffs.

Best record in the NL? And LA played what .800 from most of the second half including destroying the cards in a series? Who did the Card's have a loosing record too? The Dodgers, Braves, Pirates, 11-8 REDS....I don't think the CARDS are that good of a team since the playoffs began. The Cards have some injuries as well? Sure they're a good balanced team but not the best. I bet Detroit would have taken them.
No way do I think the Card's would have taken the Braves. If the Pirates didn't pull off a gut wrenching sweep then a great wild card game just to face the Cards I'd bet on Pittsburgh as well. If LA was half healthy, Card's lose.

Pittsburgh gave the Card's 5 and LA gave them 6. LA was a total mess entering the Card's series and LA still could have won. I've watched all the Card's playoff games and I wouldn't put them in the top 4 or 5 teams who made the playoffs. But here we are, a few bounces later and they're in the WS.

No I don't see the Card's being much of a problem for Boston. Almost don't want to watch it, I'd rather watch the Braves vs Boston.

Still photo of a foreign substance inside Lester's glove duringGame 1 of WS and a short video of Lester touching that area of the glove with his pitching hand.

Yawn.

By Mike Axisa | Baseball Writer

Red Sox left-hander Jon Lester may or may not have had a foreign substance on his glove during Game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday night, a game in which he shut out the highest scoring team in the NL for 7 2/3 innings. The photos and videos are interesting but ultimately inconclusive.

Major League Baseball apparently feels the same way. Pat Courtney, MLB's senior vice president of public relations, issued the following statement on Thursday:

"We cannot draw any conclusions from this video. There were no complaints from the Cardinals and the umpires never detected anything indicating a foreign substance throughout the game."

That about sums it up. If the Cardinals didn't complain and the umpires didn't notice anything, there's really nothing that can be done. It's worth noting that a lot of times, opposing teams will keep quiet because they don't want their own pitchers to get checked out for foreign substances. It's one of those things that could have unintended consequences, I suppose.

I don't give a shit about the pine tar, it's not like they corked their bats.

We eeked by last night as opposed to being annihilated the night before. We're gonna need more than just home field advantage to put down guys like Big Papi again.

Also, Matheny is going to lose this for us as was said above, if he doesn't learn when to pull pitchers. Wacha rules but tonight he was off. Way too many walks. Just like Wainright is great but should've been out way sooner last night.

I love my Cards, but this will by no means be a walk in the park. They need to bring bats and stop fucking up on simple defense.

That runner interference play reminded me of Austin Powers falling over Vanessa. Ohhhhhh I fell over........Ohhh I fell over again...

Rather then rounding the base the runner pulled a soccer dive.

Of course the catcher shouldn't have thrown the ball but the 3rd baseman sure as fuck should have caught it....After missing, the 3rd baseman should have immediately got up rounding the runner. It was his "I fucking missed the catch panic what do I do now delay" that gave the runner time to soccer dive.

The ugliest game winning play ever and it's turning out to be the ugliest WS ever, so ugly Machado wouldn't fuck it. Feels like I'm watching Rookie ball with bearded 19 year old's.

Seriously, Cry Me a Rivera.

I picture Rivera doing a going out to going out tour. He'll show up at the Superbowl, NBA games, The Stanley Cup and taco stands. He could milk this shit out for 3 to 4 years easy.
Then Mariano Rivera writes a pop-out book called "there is crying in baseball." and does another year long publicity campaign.

Tell it like it is, Kenny.

Doesn’t make sense, so let’s end this charade once and for all. The Dodgers should either fire Mattingly or trade him to one of the four remaining teams with a managerial opening, assuming that one of those clubs would even want him.

Maybe the Nationals would take such a leap — general manager Mike Rizzo is a Mattingly fan, sources say — but I wouldn’t bet on it. The unavoidable truth about Mattingly, even if you believe that the Dodgers mistreated him, even if you give him credit for holding together a fractious clubhouse, is that he is a poor in-game strategist.
Yep....
