The last stinker of a PPV was 161 which had an injury (I think Aldo vs Edgar was supposed to be on this card) and before that 151 because of the Jones/Hendo fight being cancelled.

It seems ever since they stopped doing ppvs every other week, the cards have been getting better. And the freebies on Fox have been pretty good as well.

Joe Son Do

Image

Son pleaded guilty to felony vandalism in 2008 and was placed on probation. As a condition of his plea agreement, Son was required to provide a DNA sample. In 2008, the DNA sample was linked to a 1990 gang rape. Already in custody for a probation violation, Son was arrested at the Theo Lacy facility on October 7, 2008.[5]

In October 2008, Son was charged by California authorities in relation to his participation in a 1990 gang rape. He was initially charged in Orange County, California, with five counts of rape, two felony counts of forcible sodomy, two felony counts of sodomy in concert by force, seven felony counts of forcible oral copulation, and one felony count of sexual penetration by foreign object by force. He faced a maximum sentence of 275 years to life if convicted.[2][6]

Son and an accomplice tortured and repeatedly raped the victim before releasing her with her underwear tied around her eyes. During the trial the woman said Son told her: 'It's Christmas. This is your lucky day.'

Before jury selection began for his trial in early August 2011, the initial charges against Son were dropped having expired due to the statute of limitations. Son was then charged with conspiracy to commit torture and murder, crimes which have no statute of limitations.[7] In late August, Son was found guilty of one felony count of torture.

During the trial, the Orange County District Attorney's Office maintained that both Son and his co-defendant, Santiago Lopez Gaitan, pistol-whipped their female victim, threatened to kill her repeatedly, and raped her before finally releasing her. His co-defendant in the case Santiago Gaitan, 40, pleaded guilty to rape, kidnapping and other charges, and was sentenced to 17 years and four months in prison.[8] In September 2011, Son was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.[9]

In October 2011, Son was accused of killing his cellmate, Charles Graham, a convicted sex offender;[10][11][12] he has been charged with first degree murder. The case is still pending and Son will stand trial. The murder happened on October 10, 2011, on "B" Yard Reception, building 5. On September 13, 2013, Son was officially charged with Graham's murder.

Joseph Hyungmin Son, CDCR # AI7266, is currently housed in California State Prison, Corcoran.

Ben Askren is the only fighter in Bellator that I think could survive in UFC.

This Chandler Alvarez fight wasn't a good showcase for MMA in my opinion. Two assholes who couldn't puch each other out, couldn't submit...both had the rear naked choke but didn't have the strenght. MMA fans will claim that this was a great fight. Sanchez - Melendez was great fight IMO, but this Alvarez and Chandler, it was rubbish IMO.

I don't think either would survive in the UFC

Last Saturday's Bellator fights were complete crap. Not one interesting or worthwhile fight.

didn't see it. I will look it up & watch it.
Not a fan of Bellator. Whenever I watch the fights,
it reminds of minor league mma. Although ANY fighter
that is in Bellator would kick the crap out of me!

I didn't watch any of the other fights, but Kennedy's KO over Natal was pretty good, especially since its come out that he tore his quad in one of the last days of training.

Damn. That was unexpected. Give that man a title shot. I don't care where and at what date, just give him one. Three headkick KOs in a row after never having KOed someone with kicks. Ridiculous.

And Dan Henderson of all people.
Definitely deserves a title shot, and I'd like to see him against Machida eventually.

Only problem with Vitor is he tends to get beat up if he doesn't get a quick knockout.

So TUF sucked last night. Felt like I was watching Oprah. And I wanted the bug-eyed chick to win.

Pena is turning out to be quite the badass though.

I watched only the fight,
why didn't Pena's teammates cheer her when she won?
She absolutely mauled that other girl last night.

Not sure what all the hate's about with her. I know they can alter perceptions with editing, but they've shown nothing (other than the pre-fight, deodorant quip about Moras, but they hated her before then) that makes her unlikable, IMO.
That's okay though, because she looks like she's got more going on and a brighter future than most of the vastly more seasoned vets in the house. Jealousy, methinks (her looks, her friendship and perceived preference with Miesha Tate).

I see that curly hair guy from Bellator became a free agent & is
available to sign with the UFC.
They should throw his ass in immediately with one of the top guys &
be done with him quickly. He never showed me anything in any
of his fights.

I have got to quit watching UFC. Some of the decisions this year have been almost laughable. I have St Pierre winning one round. ONE!

I agree the 3rd.
The 5th rd was a wash.
& other 3 rds went to Hendricks.

I was surprised at that fight, I thought Hendricks was gonna gas out in the last two rounds. I think it was close (because of how much weight UFC gives to takedowns) but that Hendricks won. Bad decision.

During the 3rd rd the fight reminded me of the time Koschek fought GSP. Koschek couldn't do anything & it appeared GSP was taking over.
This time 4th came around & Hendricks was still engaged & scoring.
My take is that during the post fight interview with Rogan, GSP was on fumes, knew he lost fight, and was babbling shit.
Gotta give credit to Hendrick's take down defense. GSP got him down how many times? 3?

Other fights-

Good to see Lawlor get the win. McDonald was a big baby & left ring right after decesion. I always thought Machida was the most boring fighter in the UFC. McDonald wins that award. The only difference is Machida can finish a fighter with one kick or hit.

Evans/Sonnen fight was no surprise. Anytime Sonnen gets hit hard he folds like a napkin. Give him credit though, he doesn't duck anybody.

Entertaining night of fights. Too bad it ended the way it did. Shame on those judges. Oh yeah, two of the judges gave rd 1 to GSP. What?!?

The thing that impressed me was Hendricks' ability to contain GSP against the cage. Dude is strong!!! if GSP fights Hendricks again, he will take another beating, even if he wins legitimately. He is just getting beat up too much each fight. I think he will retire.
Glad Rory Mcdonald lost. I have never liked him or the way he fights. The WW division is up for grabs, although Bigg Rigg should be champ. Who should Woodley fight next? Sure, he KO'd a past it Koscheck but he should get a top fighter to see where he stands. Remember he was Ko'd nasty by Marquardt. I am not buying into the hype yet.

I think Koscheck thought he could stand toe to toe & exchange blows with Woodley. Not so.
The Marquardt ko of Woodley was a thing of beauty wasn't it?

Hendricks & his wrestling- all week long people were saying "oh doesn't matter what a great wrestler he is, he's never fought a wrestler like GSP". Well, that proved to be wrong wasn't it?

Wow...Hendricks got the big screw for sure. I had Hendricks with 4 rounds to GSP`s single round. At no point in the fight did GSP have Johnny hurt...GSP cant say that, hell, he even admitted he lost memory during the fight.

Evans vs Sonnen wasnt anything to really get hyped about...neither of them cant match Jones...

Glad to see Lawler win over McDonald if for no other reason than I get tired of hearing about how Rory just lives to fight MMA...

Woodley vs Koschek was fun...I like seeing Koschek get the shit knocked out of him...his hype outweighs his actual talent..

As much as I like Sonnen, I think he needs to hang it up. Yeah, he doesn't duck anyone, but he's not a realistic contender anymore.
