NFL is reviewing the hit 49ers Ahmad Brooks put on Brees Sunday.
WTF!!!
What is there to review? Instant replay should have reviewed the hit on the field
and ultimately picked up the flag.
That hit was totally clean
Yes it was a vicious hit, but the hit was not a blow to the head.
Instant replay for hits to the head on any player could save the league and the ref's
a lot of criticism directed their way.
Unreal!
Fucking 2013 and instant replay is still not used properly.

Do you think they should extend instant replay to ALL penalties? Pass interference? Offsides and false starts?Machado wrote:NFL is reviewing the hit 49ers Ahmad Brooks put on Brees Sunday.

Why not
The goal should be to get the call right, not matter how often the game is paused so a dedicated replay official reviews the tape.
The league is living in the dark ages and refuses to embrace technology.
The league is a billion dollar corp yet they refuse to hire/pay an official to review all plays of a single game.

More drama from the Redskins. This time RG 3's own teammate is criticizing him:UtahRatt wrote:Machado has been pushing this RGII vs Shanahan shit since training camp, for fucking months! I think I finally believe him. And it's going to get worse.Machado wrote:The relationship between Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III and head coach Mike Shanahan already was being dissected and discussed in depth before Sunday's loss. What Griffin said after falling to the Philadelphia Eagles is sure to intensify the discussion.
Griffin, per the Washington Post's Mike Jones, had a telling statement about the Redskins' gameplan in their 24-16 loss that might have knocked them out of playoff contention.
“They did a good job of scheming us up,” Griffin said. “They kind of knew what was coming before it was coming and that was disheartening. But like I told the guys, regardless of what’s going on out there, we’re the players and we have to make the plays work, and we just weren’t doing that in the first half.”
I've done some poking around....I've found some inside reports that show RGIII voted for Obama and Shanahan hates Obama then to make matters worse Shanahan believes there's Aliens in area 51 and RGIII don't believe in them. This has created a time bomb environment in the Skins locker room.
According to Machado, RGIII and Shanahan have never liked each other and have been fighting since training camp. Now we know it's the truth.
It's about Obama and Aliens......You call it Machado.
On Tuesday, veteran Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss went on 106.7 The Fan in D.C., and said that when things go wrong, players need to take more personal responsibility -- specifically Washington's franchise quarterback.
"If we're going to win games, we need to win games with our guy saying, 'At the end of the day, I didn't make a play,' regardless of if it wasn't him," Moss said on the "LaVar and Dukes" show. "And that's how I feel. Because that's what we're out there to do.
"As a leader, you understand that if you're involved in the situation, whether you're the receiver, the quarterback, the guys making the tackle, whoever -- regardless of the outcome, good or bad, you have to at some point, stand up and say me or I," Moss said.
Moss drove his point home even further.
"I don't need to be going back and forth in the media about who didn't do this and who didn't do what," Moss said. "At the end of the day, I was seen with the ball in my hand last, as a quarterback I'm saying, and if it didn't get done then I'm going to let you know it was me. Whether it was me or not. It was me. And I'm going to get better. And we're going to get better together."

Bullshit. Flagrant clothesline tackles have resulted in fines for the offending tackler since I was a fucking kid. The attention being given to spearing type violations in recent years has made some doofuses forget that clotheslining is most definitely an illegal move and more importantly a highly dangerous and cowardly move. Always has been. This is nothing new.

He didn't neck tie Brees, Brooks armed the shoulder pad. the momentum pulled it up over the neck and helmet but Brooks flat out hit his shoulder pad.

$15,750 says otherwise.
If you watch the hit in real time (not slow-mo to cushion it) and don't think it was AT THE VERY LEAST worthy of a penalty, you're fucking insane. I don't see how anybody can begin to argue the point when you even have a goddamn fine on top of it.

Let's not snap a quarterback's head off his shoulders. Come on. The game is rough, okay, but there's no need for that kind of shit.
I mean I can't fucking stand Tom Brady but I certainly wouldn't want to see him get his neck broken in a game.

No way in hell was it a bad hit, not one doubt watching it live "TV" or in slow mo or replayed from a dozen angles.....From minute one it was a great legal hit.
To back that up......When Stuart Scott, Ray Lewis, Steve Young and Trent Dilfer "QB'S"! Say it was a good hit, an embarrassment flag and all was taken by surprised. That's good enough for me
"Trent Dilfer - I don't think there's a player in this league who thinks that was a penalty that should have been called."

"NFL VP of Officiating Dean Blandino, speaking on NFL Network Tuesday night, said that Brees was "defenseless" and therefore the call was correct."
For some reason I didn't notice the NFL VP saying anything about clothesline?
Oh it's here, where he admits the contact was below the neck.
“The quarterback, in the act of passing, or in the passing posture, is defenseless,” Blandino said. “You can't make forcible contact to the head or the neck area. Even if the contact starts below the neck and rises up, if there's force to that contact, it's a foul."

Re: The NFL Thread
NFL officials had a good weekend. Saint's win on a bad call.
As for the Rob Gronkowski non call.
Rob wasn't making any attempt to attack the ball, go through the blocker or even act like he was being mugged. If Rob would have attempted or even soccer dived I'd tossed a flag. Regardless of being mugged, no way Rob goes through two or was it three more defenders and catches that ball. Don't give a fuck what the rule say's, Rob's not making the catch so I agreed with the no call.
As for all this shit about the rules......They're one big gray area with most of them judgment calls at best.
The rules aren't there to make the game safer, the league is about money and they're doing all they can to make/save money with disregard for the game "product". If it's safer, someone tell me how many back up QB's, RB's and WR's are starting. Not just this season, this fucking week. Or should I said. Weak.
How many RB's has Tampa lost? Oakland lost the starting QB, RB, FB and CB in the first half of the Skins game. Maybe the NFL should make it a FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE.
Then again, anyone remember Robert Edwards blowing his knee playing Flag during ProBowl weekend? It's a physical sport, not lawn darts.
As for the Rob Gronkowski non call.
Fuck the rule. It was an uncatchable ball. Both Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski’s mothers thought Luke Kuechly interfered with Gronkowski in the end zone Monday night. Unfortunately for New England, Mrs. Brady and Mrs. Gronkowski are not NFL officials.

Brees was the one who got hit. But his assessment of it as being a clothesline hit is not valid enough because it may be a self-serving opinion, right? Regardless of being on the mouth-bloodied receiving end of it?UtahRatt wrote:Harbaugh said they give a player a minus grade when he commits a penalty. "We did not give (Ahmad) a minus on that play."
Kinda makes the above quote ten times more worthless. Jim Harbaugh would cry foul if he got shorted a penny at the drive-thru. Of all people, nobody should give his testimony a second thought.

As for bleeding from the mouth? Ya that was sure a gusher."I don't think there's a player in this league who thinks that was a penalty that should have been called."

Hello...Pads and jersey's are made to be slick and fit tight for a reason. Maybe if they made jersey's and gloves from Velcro hands and arms wouldn't slide off pads while you're trying to tackle someone at full speed. Either that or next year the NFL can implement a no SACK rule.
I didn't know you're a Saint's fan.

I don't think there's any way that should be a penalty on Brooks. If it happened to Brady I'd be saying the same thing. It's similar to when a defensive player begins his tackle and the offensive player lowers his head, creating contact that results in a defensive penalty.

Brees was "defenseless" so the call was correct? So now a quarterback with the ball is defenseless?"NFL VP of Officiating Dean Blandino, speaking on NFL Network Tuesday night, said that Brees was "defenseless" and therefore the call was correct."

What's next, once the QB enters the Pocket he's Defenseless? Fucking lame cotton candy bullshit.
So now you can tackle the "defenseless" QB at the waist and when said QB ducks and collapses through your arms forcing any contact to the neck or helmet........It's a foul and fine?“The quarterback, in the act of passing, or in the passing posture, is defenseless,” Blandino said. “You can't make forcible contact to the head or the neck area. Fuck off, just put the RED jersey's on QB's and make it no contact or two hand touch. Total bullshit any way you slice it.
Passing posture?

That's going to be replayed and picked apart like fucking tuck rule..."Well the QB's running and kinda looks like he's gonna pass the ball as he slid from of the LB's grasp." "If you stop the reply here you can just see the LB's glove graze the QB's face mask"

It was hard to watch when I quit playing but what really turned the knife was how wimpy the rules got each year...About the time Roy Williams changed the book with one horse collar was when I stopped. I'd watch my team but for the better part of the last 4 years I haven't paid much attention....It's the reason I had no fucking clue who Ponder was or AD is a nick name. Like I cared.
So this year I got back into the game, lots of new names and faces but more then that, a lot more stupid rules to catch up on.
Couple years ago I watched a VHS tape from 1992, Monday Night game Denver vs Raiders and every other play I kept saying....That would be a flag today. Imagine how many flags would litter the field from 1982.
Now we have shit like this fucking hit on Brees, every time a WR misses a ball he gets up looking for a flag....Half the time then come out. I've Been bitching about the rules all year but this takes the cake. It's about time to watch a bit more hockey, Rugby and the Xgames.
NFL = Nu Football League
