I'm getting fed up with Moyes now. Most of the time his tactics are shite. Then he says shit like "we'll try to make it hard for Newcastle." WTF is that shit? Nope, not a Manchester United manager. Then Woodward comes out with some shit about having one bad season won't stop people buying shirts and other bullshit. That's all he and the Fucking Glazers care about. Money for the debts.Hellsinkey wrote:Rubbish game again. Didn't even see the goal, fell asleep.

And just think you're were calling for Fergusons head! He would never had let this team finish below 4th in the league. Moyes is terrible and I knew it was a bad appointment straight away.MickeyG wrote:I'm getting fed up with Moyes now. Most of the time his tactics are shite. There's a lot of shit in that post.
Maybe we should have gone for Martinez!
You look at the Man Utd squad and it's weak. And in all fairness it has been crying for a re-haul for the last three years. Fergusons great ability was to have half a dozen star players surrounded by 5 or so players who could do a job. Moyes for sure doesn't have that ability. But even with the players we do have, most managers would be doing better than this clown.

Fergie needs to take a share of the blame. He failed repeatedly to strengthen the midfield. He allowed/forced Scholes and Giggs to keep playing when they should have retired already. Moyes was Fergies choice to take over. Fergie is very complicit in this disaster.pieceofme wrote:And just think you're were calling for Fergusons head! Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2012/2013 Season thread*
Despite a lacklustre draw with Blackburn for my beloved QPR, I managed a good 'lol' this weekend at both the Chelsea and Man Utd results.
Mourinho seems a shadow of his former self. Gone is the bullish, antagonistic individual who would stir up controversy to take the flak off his players; now he bleats about not getting a phone call from the head of English football refereeing. During his exodus, successive coaches have had to face down the real guys in charge at the Bridge - Fat Frank and JT - and Mourinho's returned to that environment. It doesn't help that Chelsea fans are so wedded to certain players despite their fading prowess (ie, JT and Fat Frank).
Also, Mourinho allowed his best striker to go to Everton for the season. No idea why Mourinho is disgruntled with Lukaku's (honest) reasoning as to why he left on loan again - after all, it's within his power to stop it happening, or at least should be.
Man U are really losing their lustre. Nobody fears them anymore. When RVP and Rooney are both fit they are still formidable, and Vidic / Evans / Ferdinand make a good defensive unit, whoever plays. De Gea is one of my favourite goalies. But Smalling isn't good enough, and on this season's showing Wes Brown is a better player (still). Phil Jones is good but not great, and has the first touch of a cement piling. Against Newcastle they had less possession than their opponents - at the Theatre of Hate, no less. Once upon a time they would have ground out a result by keeping the ball. I still think Moyes needs time, but some of his selections baffle me and I don't think he knows how to use either Welbeck or Kagawa. The latter is a wonderful player but can't just be shunted out wide for expediency's sake.

Smalling's done alright in the center, but he's shit at fullback.
Yep, after 20 years of being at or near the top, it takes some getting used to being mid table. Younger fans won't know what's hit them. It's a different ball game now though to what it used to be, thanks to the money in the game. I mean, I watched Everton boss Arsenal today, but does anyone really think that if Everton actually won the league they could build a dynasty? Their best players and possibly their manager would be snatched from them immediately. They don't have the financial muscle to do anything long term. Although money doesn't guarantee success, having it and making the right decisions where to spend it will get you up at the top table and keep you there.

The Prem race is great this year. Every big team has looked vulnerable at some point. Bet Mourinho is kicking himself for not keeping Lukaku around. That boy is a beast.MickeyG wrote:Smalling's done alright in the center, but he's shit at fullback.

Yeah the table and the race has been interesting. The difference between a top coach like Ferguson to Moyes, is that Fergie got a mediocre United (especially midfield) side to overachieve last season. Moyes can't get that out of them, but still he should do better with that material. Top four at least. If he isn't there in the end, surely heads will roll.

Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2012/2013 Season thread*
Thought United played well against an admittedly poor Villa. Rooney dropping back to help the midfield put an extra body in there and his passing was excellent. Rafael and Valencia teamed up well and gave Luna a torrid time. Welbz took his goals well, and proves that he's a better one touch type finisher, than if he has time to take touches. Evans and Jones looked decent at the back, while Evra is still a liability. He apparently wants to go back to France, so I expect Moyes to once again go after a left back in one of the next 2 windows.

I'd like to see Ole Gunnar S. with Spurs. United get Olympiakos at CL.

Spurs should turn to the best England manager of the last 20 years - Glenn Hoddle. Not a joke by the way, I genuinely believe this.

Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2012/2013 Season thread*
Surely Terry Venables was the best England manager of the last 20 years? Hoddle was sacked over something stupid though, which was a pity.
And now a chance for Moyes to get to Wembley.

United have been shit all season but are only 5 points off of Liverpool who everyone thinks are great.
Awful defending today, and it seems every week a new name is added to the injury list.

Something I noticed as well. Glad City won today. Liverpool at the top is unbearable.MickeyG wrote:United have been shit all season but are only 5 points off of Liverpool who everyone thinks are great.

Suarez has been great. As has Henderson and Miguelt (spelling). But I wouldn't call them a great team.

Rodgers has got them playing well, I think he's a decent manager. I do think without Suarez for a long spell and they'd struggle. They looked rough at the beginning of the season without him, but got results. If they lost him now for a spell with no Sturridge, I think they'd drop points.pieceofme wrote:Something I noticed as well. Glad City won today. United were awful again today, but got the 3 points. Evra and Giggs were terrible, and Welbeck was lucky with the goal. Still, 4 wins on the bounce in the league even if they are against shit teams. If they beat Spurs I might start to believe in Moyes a little.

Today totally showed our lack of depth. Compare Chavski bench to Liverpool. Second half was not bad but first half, Sideshow Bob ran the midfield. Rogers needs a strong midfielder. Gerrard is getting on, Lucas and Allen are too lightweight. Henderson has played really good in Gerrard's absence. Still too early to say the wheels are falling off. Two tough away games against unbeaten home sides. BTW, Johnson has been atrocious. On this form he should not be England's right back.MickeyG wrote:Suarez kept quiet again and Liverpool lose.
Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2012/2013 Season thread*
I think Liverpool will finish above United though, as long as injuries don't fuck them. I'll have a little more belief in Moyes if United beat Spurs today. Although they've been just as bad as United at times, United have struggled against the top half teams this season. Even in beating Arsenal, they laboured. Some signings would be nice, but I have no confidence in Woodward delivering any that are any good.

Again, just when about to get to striking distance to top 4- owned.

Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2012/2013 Season thread*
Very poor again. Huge job on for Moyes to turn this around. If only Valencia could actually pick someone out with a cross with all the possession he gets.

There's talk of Moyes getting 200 mil to spend. I'm not sure I'd give him tuppence halfpenny.

That'll buy a lot of Everton, just to make him comfortable.

I took the laptop and watched the game at son's football practise. Shouldn't have bothered.
