NFL Wildcard predictions
I just got myself and some buddies tickets for the Green Bay vs. San Francisco game, so I am getting very excited for this weekend to happen.
What are your predictions for the outcome of the Wildcard games?
Kansas City @ Indianapolis
New Orleans @ Philadelphia
San Diego @ Cincinnati
San Francisco @ Green Bay
My thoughts:
Kansas City @ Indianapolis - Indianapolis wins this one. The Chiefs don't look like the team that started out the season. 2-5 in their last 7 games, this doesn't look like the team that started the season. I like Luck and think he has a good game. Colts 21 Chiefs 20
New Orleans @ Philadelphia - This should be a shootout. The Saints isn't the best on the road, but I could see Brees playing a good game. The Eagles offense has looked great with Foles under center. But I see New Orleans pulling ahead in the fourth quarter. Saints 31 Eagles 23
San Diego @ Cincinnati - While the Bengals are a better overall team, the wildcard here is Andy Dalton. I like their D and like Giovanni Bernard(i reached for him in a few fantasy leagues). Rivers had a good season and the Bolts finished the season with 3 wins, one being over Denver. I could really see this going either way, but I Will say Bengals 34 Chargers 28
San Francisco @ Green Bay - I live in Wisconsin and bleed green and Piss gold, so I have a bias on this. However, with Rodgers and Cobb back in the mix, this team is looking a lot more dangerous. But that defense might fuck it all up. Niners are good all around so the Packers need turnovers and defensive stops. Packers have gotten torched by Kaepernick before, but I think they are hungry enough to pull off a win. Packers 31 Niners 28

Re: NFL Wildcard predictions
The Colts, this one I am the most sure of.
The Bengals, the Chargers are firing on all cylinders right now, but it's still the same old chokers until proven otherwise.
The Eagles, They seem invincible right now and the Saints have not won a playoff game on the road in five years.
The Packers, I am not sure of this one at all. I figure the hidden powers in the NFL realize that if the Saints lose that a Seattle vs Packers rematch will draw better ratings than the third match between Seattle and SF.

Colts win because A. Smith is not an elite QB when it matters most
Eagles win because Saints are awful on the road
Bengals easily handle Chargers
Packers win a close game because Rodgers is on the field, has nothing
to do with the game time temperature.

Re: NFL Wildcard predictions
I get that it's extremely cold, but are Green Bay really that heavily favored? They had Rogers last time and the 7 best games of Kapernick's career has come against them. It will be close, but I don't think of SF as the underdog especially with how they're playing now.Machado wrote:THIS!!!John Simon Ritchie wrote: Packers

So SF is nowhere near the Underdog going into this game.
If the game was in SF, Niners might be favored by as much as 7.

Looks like me and RB are the only ones going with San Dog this weekend, we shall see. Really looking forward to all 4 games this weekend I love wild card weekend and the divisional playoffs. Two games with it all on the line on both Saturday and Sunday make for a great weekend of vegging out in front of the tv.

Are the Packers players more comfortable with playing in
severe cold weather?
Pretty sure the Packers come from the same areas of the country as
the 49ers players.
The media and Chris Berman want the public to believe that GB plays in severe cold weather 8 games per season. Making them very comfortable in this weather.
That's false.
The game will come down to QB play.

If it comes down to QBs then I would think SF has an advantage. I don't think Kap is better overall than Rogers ( not yet anyways ), but he's playing really well right now.Machado wrote:The "cold weather" angle is ridiculous.SkeletorsGhost wrote:

Re: NFL Wildcard predictions
Well, the Chiefs got some of your picks. I'm surprised. I was expecting no one to pick them. I just cannot get my hopes up for this one. I hope, I don't know for sure, but I hope they just quit 2 weeks ago when they last played, and it wasn't a pure owning. Houston was out that game. He'll be back. The Colts have historically been killers of the Chiefs in the playoffs (Schottenheimer days, Vermeil days, Edwards days). This game, to me is all about the pass rush. They don't get to Luck, they don't win. The Chiefs secondary, despite 2 Pro Bowlers in Berry and Flowers, is complete shit. Yes, they played a lot of shit teams to get to 9-0, but they were also stacking up the sacks, and forcing turnovers. This stretch of losing they had to end the season, the sacks and turnovers had kind of disappeared. I'm nervous. Last time the Chiefs won in the postseason, Montana and Marcus Allen were on the team. I hope they win obviously. I just don't know.
And one last grim thought. Charles is like the only weapon on offense the Chiefs have. Dwayne Bowe has never lived up to his potential. Avery, I don't know what his deal is, but he doesn't really do shit. McCluster needs to only play special teams. He can only catch punts, not forward passes. Fasano? Eh. The other 2 tight ends (McGrath and Hemingway), have made plays, but they don't get their numbers called much. So, basically, all the Colts have to do is stick to Charles like glue. That will completely shut down the Chiefs' offense.

Don't care, not caring, calculating or adding mojo...Could be wrong on all of them.
Kansas City @ Indianapolis - KC shouldn't lose this, should be easy "choke"
New Orleans @ Philadelphia - Saint's, I want the Eagles too lose.
San Diego @ Cincinnati - Cincinnati destroys the 8-8 Chargers.
San Francisco @ Green Bay - SanFrancheesy.
I'll root for the Saints and Packers. The only team I hate is Philly, the Eagles did a great job letting the Cowgirls choke now they can go.

Eagles too lose.

Don't know if you're trolling, but that "fraud" is gonna end up being the Coach of the Year. Took a 2-14 franchise that was a total mess, players committing murder/suicides no-less, and turned them into an 11-5 playoff team. He's taken a team to the Super Bowl. And how many NFC championship appearances? You must be joking.Mirrored_Iceman wrote:Kansas City @ Indianapolis -Andy Reid will lose this game cause he is a fraud.

Not trolling....I had the pleasure of his coaching my Iggles for 13 years. He can't win the big game, he can't manage the clock. I could go on for hours about him. Re: NFL Wildcard predictions
O ye of little faith. You have that paranoid fan voodoo curse going on. KC should dominate Indy. KC softened up after the bye but last weeks rest will do them good. It's not going to be the same game this time around.Peterbilt wrote:Well, the Chiefs got some of your picks.
Colts offense - Luck is an average "sophomore" QB with arguably the worst WR core in football and The Colt's can't run effectively so I'm not seeing any excuse why KC's defense can't shut them down. I wouldn't go blitz happy either. Sit back in coverage and mix it up. Luck will make the mistakes. 2INTs
Colt's defense - Can't stop the run.....It's what KC does when they don't go away from it.
Even if Indy gets an early lead and KC foolishly stops pounding. Alex could end up being the TD maker against this Colt's D. If KC loses it's because they choke, get out coached or they really do suck. I'm betting they come out hungry, bring their A game and prove to be the better team.

Pete even if they do go out in the wild card just remember where you guys have been for what seems like ages and appreciate what you've accomplished this year.

They just went through a very cold game last week, so they are more ready for those conditions than the Niners are.
Cold weather hurts the passing game, which helps the Packers' AWFUL defense to concentrate primarily on the running game. Until last week, the Packers had to rely heavily on their own running offense, so any passing O will be a bonus.
That said, I will not be surprised at all if they lose. Their defense is atrocious and their coach is a moron.

Sure KC could come out flat, lack luster Alex could turn the ball over and the Colt's could win. Still wouldn't excuse The Chiefs for losing if I was a fan.
Home field isn't a big enough advantage so possible issues. Controlling Robert Mathism, dropping INT's, taking advantage of turn overs or not sticking to the run. Indy could have a couple big play's but they'll probably be dropped or overthrown so I expect to see KC load the box early. The big plays will likely be from the run.
For Indy to win. Get off to a quick start, crowed gets riled, KC starts throwing and one of Indy's lame WR's steps up with a career day forcing an adjustment.
It's the playoffs, better teams normally win. There's no guarantees but if I was placing bet's these would be the two easy picks. The match ups are ripe.
KC over Indy
Bengals over Chargers
