Since the NFL has already talked about adding knees and more defenseless players with the ball penalties....I think I'm out next year. It was cool to come back and catch up this season but in the end the game is pussified. No better word to describe it. The NFL had just as many if not more injuries this year even with the stupid rules.

Bring back the XFL!
One of the best games I've witnessed was a game in Chicago "Enforcers" during a rainstorm. Ended 3-0? Total battle in the mud, players were being carried off every play. Just a brutal match I wished I could watch again.
is this it?

Anybody who enjoyed that humiliating spectacle just due to the amount of injuries can't possibly be a football fan.

The games I was at , there were possibly two injuries, if that. They played the game the way men played the game... There weren't cheap shots. It was just football. Of course, the talent was limited considering what it was, but, it was just good hard hitting football. Cheap, too. Considering there weren't any lame ass prima donna contracts having to be paid.

I can't believe people are waxing nostalgic for the XFL. It was a fucking joke. Quick non-wikipedia trivia question for all you die-hard XFL fans:

Which two teams played in the unforgettable "Million Dollar Game?"

You can make the NFL two-hand-touch and it'll still be a better product.

Machado is completely off his gorge!

Funnily enough, I just saw 10 minutes of the Sixth Day - an old Arnold actioner that takes place in 2015. The XFL is prominently featured - like dozens of other hardcore XFL fans I eagerly await the return of the Million Dollar Game next season.

Wasn't Tommy Maddox the MVP of that game? XFL badass to a good NFL QB before his shoulder became made out of paper mache.

Goodell isn't the only reason I no longer watch the game. Out of the big 5 in America, NFL players are the one that get the short end of the stick when it comes to contracts. Especially when you have an awesome chance of being Jim McMahon by 50 because the players are bigger, faster and stronger than what they were 30-40 years ago.

FUX YA! Might be the game but I'm gonna watch a few. Thanks for this. Right click save.

Fuck off you don't know shit! I applied for the XFL.....Even lied and added extra references on my application, made it through the application process and one phone call but time was running out and that's where it ended. Truth is I probably would have been destroyed but I gave it a shot.

So the XFL didn't have QB's. Hard to start a league and pull 8 quality quarterback out of your ass. It lacked top quality skilled positions. IT WAS A START UP LEAGUE! The XFL didn't have the time or money to extend their recruiting/walk on process but it was a tough league, tough game with a great idea that didn't have a chance to develop. Good enough the NFL took some ideas and a few players after just ONE YEAR. What did you expect in one season? Super quality? They sure gave it a shot for one season.

I Wish the XFL happen today forcing the NFL to pull their tampons out.

If the XFL happened today it most likely would still fail, but there would be a lot more interest and support.

No, there wouldn't.

People want to watch football played by the best players. Not a bunch of scrubs who couldn't make a community college team.

Vince McMahon thought football fans were as stupid as wresting fans, and he could dress up a vastly inferior product with a lot of razzle dazzle and stupid rules. He was wrong.

And most of the "innovative" rules were stuff ripped off from another failure, the 1970s WFL.

Though I gotta admit eliminating the opening coin toss in favor of a retarded and injury prone "opening scramble" at least shows some creativity.

I was at the LA Extreme game...(before the Kings/Galaxy they were the last LA sport team to win any sort of championship) I also remember there was "encouragement" by Vince to the players to fraternize with the cheerleaders!(!?) to add to controversy or some shit.

The Nicknames on jerseys too.

After the League folded those XFL footballs were in Ross clothing stores within months :D :D

Levi, you mean scrubs who played like RGIII did this season? I seen better play in the XFL then some of those Skins games. At least they didn't have to dial up a baseball player an ask how to SLIDE! Because there was no pussy sliding in the XFL.

The XFL wasn't the answer to the NFL, dipshit. It was just another league where the game was played tough. Without all the panzy flags and "how do I" slide high paid pampered stars crying about being tapped on the helmet.

Anyone else really liking the San Diego Chargers? I think they are possibly the most dangerous team in the playoffs. Not much finesse but they control the ball, theyre playing great defense and can effectively move the ball down the field when needed, albeit in spurts. This is probably a trap game for Denver.

I also think that Carolina are suspect at best against a Seattle or San Francisco defense.

And sadly I have a funny feeling that New England will be in it until the end.

That last four teams to get the Eagles as the opening game has won the Superbowl. Can you imagine a Super Bowl with Rivers as the MVP? Bring it on.

I think the 8-8 chargers are shit but with the anything's possible rule combined with Peyton's big game choking ability I'd love to see them beat the Donkeys. I should bet money and take any point spread just to give them luck. I'd pray to Oprah if I thought it would help.

But do I think the chargers have a chance and look threatening? Fuck no. They squeaked in the playoffs and spanked the weak Bengals, Dalton really turned up the heat and showed up for that game. It was the better match up I was looking for. Chargers vs Broncos.

What I don't know is the IR report for the Donkey's. Welkers and a couple other players status. Weather report and how many dicks Eric Decker has sucked hoping for a game time knee injury.

A week ago, you also thought they couldn't beat the Bengals.

I don't think they're that strong, and Manning May torch them. However, I do think they can beat the Broncos or Colts, or even the depleted Patriots potentially. With Rivers and an improved running game, if they have a good day, their opposition damn well better too.

And since you're late to the game and haven't been playing along I stopped predicting, betting and caring in week 14. Up till that point feel free to scroll back 30 pages and see how often I lost. I'm no longer vested and back to my normal exaggerated self.

I'm predicting more on TEAMS I WANT to win each week. I wasn't surprised SD took Cincy. I'd rather have crooked teeth Rivers and his run game OVER Dalton going in. But I wanted the Chargers to lose and felt Cincy's D, at home, Dalton wouldn't fail them. WRONG.

The 8-8 Chargers do suck and are gonna get spanked in Denver but they have a cunt hair shot. And that's what I'm hoping for. The rare possibility Rivers and Run game show up vs Peyton's big game choking ability.

You keep trotting out this tired old Neversurrender "play football like real men" bullshit but it's hilarious and ironic that you continue to cite the XFL as an example of this. What do you think guys like Jack Lambert thought about the cheesy ass pregame shows with Opie and Anthony, the retarded shill broadcasters like Jesse the Body who knew NOTHING about the game, and all the other nonsense that accompanied these classless and tasteless broadcasts of no-talent football (don't ask Butkus - just like anybody else who might have anything positive to say he was on the XFL payroll)? Besides the fact that there is virtually no actual football skill on display, there is also a complete lack of dignity or respect for the game.

You keep saying the public lusts for "real" football like the XFL, yet some of these games had the lowest ratings in the HISTORY of any television programming ever. Explain that. Was it a conspiracy? I doubt it - the first week of games had incredible ratings but virtually nobody came back for repeat viewing, because what they saw that first week was absolutely terrible in every way.

I really don't know what you are trying to say, except to see how many times you can cram "pussy," "Tampon," and "vagina" into one Locker Room post. You aren't doing anything but make yourself look like a moron.

Seriously, watch some of the XFL stuff on youtube and try not to be embarrassed for everyone involved, including yourself for trying to make a case for it.

Playoffs are all about who gets hot at the right time so sure, I could see the Chargers going forward. After going 0-4 last week I think I'll sit out picking games though and just enjoy the playoffs.

, relax. I "haven't been playing" because I don't give a fuck about the three month rolling boys/skins shitfight this board has been hosting. It's been almost as lame as P13.

And I wasn't calling your football knowledge or picking record into question.
You made a blunt prediction and missed out - whatever.

As for this week's game, Broncos are obvious favourites, and if there is a blow out it will be in their favour. However, I think that given the regular season was split (48-47 I think?), and the chargers have good recent history against manning and the Broncos, I'm going to credit the Chargers with more than a cunt hair's chance.

Why do we have two NFL threads now?

I give the Chargers a chance because they are hot and because Manning loves to choke in the playoffs.

It's the only AFC matchup I figure the Donkey's have a chance of losing. There's always New England but they're so thin I can't see it happening.

I'll be rooting for the Chargers this weekened.
