Wes Welker has now lost 3 Super Bowls, and all of them are the fault of the Manning brothers.

If you didn't care enough you wouldn't have responded. You're so drunk on valley boy's baby batter you don't have the clarity or decency to give pro bowlers like Winder and Hall of Famers like Sharpe their due....not to mention the "three amigos" Elway had at his disposal and their whole defensive crew back in those days the credit they deserve. I wasn't the biggest fan but I remember watching those Denver teams and they were fucking good. Elway carried them on his shoulders, my ass. You're punch drunk in love with Valley Boy and can't fall out of it. My baseball coach used to have a saying....."pull the head out" I suggest you follow that sound advice and get yours out of Elway's.

To be fair it wasn't the Manning brothers that made him drop 2 ( 3? ) passes in the end zone. If he would have caught one they would have won. It will always blows my mind New Jersey beat Brady twice.

Didn't know Manning broke the Super Bowl record for completions.

"The 34 completions were even a Super Bowl record. The most hollow Super Bowl record in history, but a record nonetheless."
Manning himself was asked if the loss was embarrassing. “It’s not embarrassing at all,” he said. “I never use that word. There are a lot of professional football players in the locker room who put a lot of hard work and effort into being here and playing in that game. The word ‘embarrassing’ is an insulting word, to tell you the truth.’”

So were Fox, Manning and the rest of the team seeing the same game as the rest of us? They know the score was 43-8, right?

After the game, the Broncos sounded like a team in denial. Yes, Manning did not give up those 43 points, and his statistical line was far from awful. He went 34-47, for 280 yards, with a touchdown pass and two interceptions. The 34 completions were even a Super Bowl record. The most hollow Super Bowl record in history, but a record nonetheless.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*edit* Didn't see this Peyton quote in the story, interesting.
Manning wouldn’t give Seattle that much credit. He said the Seahawks didn’t even make him uncomfortable. “They just made more plays on defense than we did,” he said. (Again, Denver in denial)

Denver's OC had a great game plan in place to beat the Seahawks the only bad thing was the fact that Gov. Christie pulled his usual tricks and the OC was stuck in traffic. That's a true story you can look it up if you don't believe me.

So the story today is how bad NJ Transit fucked everything up. It took many people 3 hours or more to get to and from the stadium.

Biggest use of NJ Transit trains since a U2 concert in 2009. A concert I was at may I add. That is one of the only times I've ever left a show early to "beat the traffic," heading for the train during the encore.

Turned out to be a good move as I was home by 11:45 and many people didn't get home to NYC till 2 am that night.

It's pretty inexcusable. I don't understand how this happened. Christie is taking tons of shit for this latest "traffic jam" - they grossly underestimated the amount of people taking trains after weeks of telling everyone to take trains. And when people who had bus tickets left the blowout early, they were told buses wouldn't leave till an hour after final gun.

So they got on the trains instead, contributing to the clusterfuck. If Christie had called in dozens of emergency buses, it could have helped.

That's probably it for Super Bowls in NY/NJ and why not, it's a stupid idea anyway.

Frankly I don't understand why they just don't have it in New Orleans every year. Makes no sense to have a Super Bowl anywhere else. Walking 15 minutes to the French Quarter sure beats waiting for hours in this shit...

Sat it out. Ticket prices were outrageous and I knew it would be a clusterfuck.

Even if the Redskins made it I doubt I would have shelled out the $1800 get in price to go to the game. There were no last-minute bargains either. And with an east coast team in the game prices probably would have been much higher.

HD has ruined actually going to the game for me. Why should I buy the PSL for 25k before buying tickets when I can be comfortable and have the best seat in my house?

That's one train of thought. But I love going to games, it's just fun to tailgate and actually be at the games. For me that generally trumps home regardless of the size of the TV.

And you don't need to buy a PSL to go to football games. In general, season ticket ownership is a sucker bet. You can always pick and choose the games you want to go to on stubhub and if you know what you are doing you'll pay face or less.

Well, that's entirely true, since there were wasn't much motor traffic. The stadium parking lot was halved due to the NFL's "security perimeter" (which hilariously failed to keep some truther moron from crashing the game and later the presser). So I have no doubt if you were on a bus or a hired car getting out wasn't that tough - nobody was on the roads anyway, it was Super Bowl Sunday.

But for the 30,000 people on trains it was apparently a nightmare. The previous record for the U2 concert was 22,000.

Well, thanks to the football gods who saw fit to put Peyton back in his proper place, a great regular season qb and a below average playoff one.
Those two thing combined = NOT the greatest qb ever.
Now that the season is over it's time to bring back the "Mark My Words" thread.
The little ass licker actually got a couple of things right.

As a Skins fan that hurts. But it's true.

It won't be any better under Gruden. His offense doesn't suit RG3.

Three Super Bowl rings. Three different QBs - and my a single one of them close to a hall of famer. Never been done before or since.

And he took the skins to the playoffs twice in four seasons with a shitty roster and Dan Snyder as owner. That's never happened before or since either.

Bill fuckin bellicheck would have exactly zero Rings without Tom Brady, just like bill Walsh would have zero without Montana and chuck Noll would have zero without Bradshaw and company.

Bill was a real genius when he was coaching the Browns, right?
Hey, you forgot to yell Bellicheat!!
For an otherwise seemingly bright guy, this is a pretty ignorant post. Walsh was a brilliant coach and one could argue that his system elevated Montana equally.

and Belichick is also an amazing coach, despite being an asshole. He ruled in New York as a defensive coach, he has assembled something in New England over the past, what, 14 years that is pretty much unparalleled in this day and age. If Brady was the explanation, how do you explain 11-5 with fucking Matt Cassel? Or an AFC championship game with the rotating hospital ward this year..... And, yeah, Cleveland has had a such a shining record as an exemplary organization that fosters great success among coaches, so i can see that being a great example of what a bad coach Belichik is.

I don't yell "belliccheat" on the grounds that it is stupid. I am as shocked as you are that people actually believe that stuff made a real difference.

I'm simply tired of my beloved Joe Gibbs being constantly overlooked in the "greatest coach" conversation in favor of guys who won all their titles with hall of fame QBs.

Anybody can win a Super Bowl or two with the likes of Brady or Montana. Barry Fucking Switzer can "coach" aikman, Irving, and smith to a Super Bowl.

Try doing it with the likes of Mark Rypien, Doug Williams, and Joe Theisman. That's a fucking trick.

You won't get any pushback from me on Gibbs being a brilliant, terribly underrated coach. Just lay off both Bills -- they rock as coaches.
