Fuck sigs.
Re: The official NHL thread
Lundqvist was a stud the entire series and kept the score close every game. Congrats to the Kings!!! I want to see 3 banners now.
Lundqvist may not have pulled a 1987 Hextall performance, but he should've been awarded the Conn Smythe.

Yeah, he was a beast. Outshot 2 or 3 to 1 and he held up. He deserved better than what he got in this series. This really should not have been over in 5.Kings1967 wrote:Lundqvist was a stud the entire series and kept the score close every game. Congrats to the Kings!!! I want to see 3 banners now.

I think the (figurehead) King of Sweden is actually named Henrik, or at least one of their famous kings was, so the name comes from there.Aerosmith87 wrote:It irks me that EVERYONE in my work office refer to him as "The King"! What a great game. What a great series. Anyone who compares the excitement of the NBA playoffs to the NHL is nuts.
Kings are grizzled veterans. Well coached, well managed, lots of leadership, loads of grit and talent. Very deserving champions.

Yeah, it would. I would love to see a home and home outdoor game series, between the Habs and B's. Maybe use the CFL Stadium for the game here.chungasrevenge wrote:The dreaded Pittsburgh slot.WOLF wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAi2R9NxMnUchungasrevenge wrote:2015 cup odds:

PK Subban surrounded by 60,000 alcohol fueled B's fans might be a dangerous mix.

Wolf, we've got a Subban of our own for next year. He should be backing Rask. Just adds to the madness.

The schedules for next year are supposedly out on Sunday. I hope it's true. That will be a sellout in no time.

Panthers have found their man, and it is indeed Gallant:
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=455395
There are a few rumors that they wanted Bylsma, and that his asking price was too high.
The highly sought after Willie Desjardins seems to be going to Vancouver. The Pens were late comers to that party, but to no avail. He just won the AHL title with Dallas' affiliate, and had a great junior coaching career as well.

Very happy about that. Did not want Bylsma. Supposedly his wage demands would have made him the highest paid coach in the NHL.WOLF wrote:Panthers have found their man, and it is indeed Gallant:

Also heard that he gets $2 million from the Penguins for the next two years, but if he took a coaching job he would not be entitled to that.

Blysma would be good for your team, for half a season or a season, just like he was for the Penguins. He is great at coming in to replace a hard-nosed coach.pieceofme wrote: Very happy about that. Flyers trade Scotty Hartnell to Columbus for Umberger. I want to get behind Hexy but goddamn after watching all their former players win cups it's tough.

Re: The official NHL thread
There must be a personal issue. That, or Hextall feels/knows that Hartnell's style of play has taken it's toll and the sand's about to run out of the hour glass. No other reason to make that deal. Money is about the same, Umberger carries two years less term, and Flyers also get a 4th rounder. Still - are Flyers better? I think not.WhiteHouseSubsAC wrote:Flyers trade Scotty Hartnell to Columbus for Umberger. I want to get behind Hexy but goddamn after watching all their former players win cups it's tough.

Re: The official NHL thread
Habs re-sign pending UFA Andrei Markov for 3 years/5.75 mill per. That will take him to his 38th birthday.
It's too much term given Markov's injury history, and penchant for wearing down at season's end, but SOMEONE would have offered him that third year, and the Habs may have gotten a break on the yearly value/cap hit. By year 3 the cap may be 80 million, so it's not so bad. He plays a big role in feeding Subban on the PP, and mentoring some of the younger guys.
Next up is Subban. I'm hoping the Habs ONLY have to pay him 8 years/8 mill per, but I think his agent is going to bleed us, or someone will sign him to an offer sheet and fuck us over.
This is a big off season for our GM, Marc Bergevin.

the only people that think subban is worth 8 million a season are subban an his agent.
he looked good in the playoffs but he's still over rated.
ron smith, mark crawford and mike johnson, all wanting the canucks coaching gig themselves, all put over(before he was hired) what a great coach desjardins is going as far as saying that everyone that has played for him consider him to be the best coach they've ever had.
strong words

I was hoping Markov would hit free market, and overall that is a good deal for the Habs. Subban is going to get so overpaid its not even funny.WOLF wrote:Habs re-sign pending UFA Andrei Markov for 3 years/5.75 mill per. That will take him to his 38th birthday.

Re: The official NHL thread
From ticket site. Maybe an announcement is coming soon. 2/8 could be the date:
Gillette Stadium will be the host to a classic NHL match up between the Boston Bruins and the Montreal Canadiens during the 2014-2015 NHL season. Gillette Stadium, home of the NFL's New England Patriots, is an outdoor football stadium with a seating capacity nearing 69,000 seats. The NHL is excited to continue the success of outdoor games that have been reintroduced in recent years. Both the Bruins and Habs have history playing in outdoor games. In 2003, the Montreal Canadiens participated in the NHL Heritage Classic against the Edmonton Oilers. In 2010, the Boston Bruins participated in the NHL Winter Classic at Fenway Park in Boston against the Philadelphia Flyers.
The 2014-2015 NHL schedule won't be complete without this major marquee... The NHL Stadium Series presents the Montreal Canadiens vs the Boston Bruins at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The game will be broadcast across the US and Canada and highlighted as an Original 6 Match up that has many key components: history, tradition, playoff positions, bragging rights and the eyes of hockey fans across the world.
Bruins vs Canadiens Gillette Stadium Tickets
Tickets for the Bruins and Canadiens game will be in very high demand. Gillette Stadium holds close to 69,000 fans but that won't seem like enough seats to hold the massive amount of fans from all over New England and Quebec. Seats are available all across the stadium including lower level seating, end zone seating, sideline seating, upper level seating, vip boxes, suites, front row seats aisle seats and so much more. Gillette Stadium is a modern stadium with excellent amenities (inside the stadium and outside the stadium).
This game will sell out very quickly. If you're planning on going to the game, please make sure to order seats for the game as soon as you can to guarantee you can get seats. The Bruins vs Habs game in Foxborough, MA will be a very popular event and tickets will be at a premium. This game will be one of the NHL's premier games in the 2014-2015 season.
