Seriously, that's their QB plans? Good luck with that. I'm calling it now, AP will suffer injuries this season. They should trade him now and rebuild or they could try and resign...Hershal Walker.

I can't blame them for getting Bridgewater when your other two QB's are Ponder and Cassel.
You draft Teddy and hope he can outplay Cutler, hope Rodgers goes down for five games and Stafford keeps throwing interceptions. Now that's how you win a Division!

Re: The NFL Thread
I think the Skins should change the name but is that where it's gonna end or will it open up a can of worms where a bunch of sensitive fuckers will call for other name/mascot changes like chief wahoo, the Seminoles mascot etc etc. Also can Washington just change the name to something like the braves or Indians which are obviously acceptable and keep their logo since it's the name that's disparaging.

Re: The NFL Thread
huh, never heard any of that though I've heard some griping about Wahoo over the years, guess that pretty much answers my question about the logo as well, I always liked the alternate/throwback arrow helmet anyway, goes well with the regular uniforms just pick a name like braves, warriors, Indians and be done with it.MurrayFiend wrote:Chief Wahoo has been all but phased-out as it is.

What a crock of shit, I never thought in a million years he'd come close to being forced to change the name. The natives lost, we won, GTFO of America if they don't like it! If he loses then it's the Semihole, the Chiefs, the Braves and their stupid chant. Have Snyder offer to build them a casino or pony up a drum beating scholarship, they quiet up with free shit.

I'd trade Ponder for anything. He just doesn't seem to click in the NFL.
Cassel will be OK. He has a lot of talent, but needs a line. I think if Bridgewater is groomed and can keep his head on straight he may be OK. But after The last 10 years of some worthless QBs coming out, it's hard not to think Jamarcus Russell.

Being a Raider fan and watching that draft all I could think was...Great, another Todd Marajuanaovich.
Outside of Davis I don't know how anyone thought he was going to be a beast. Sign a huge contract and show up looking like the Pillsbury Doughboy.
Worst draft signing ever.

Re: The NFL Thread
Drafting Jamarcus really set the team back. I'm not going to say I'm glad that Al's dead, but it's satisfying to have a G.M. who doesn't draft based on speed anymore, or a QB who can throw 60 yards while kneeling on the field during practice. Hoping Hayden pans out, but who knows what's going to happen there. Mack is sounding like he's going to be a force, but we still have another couple months to go before we find out.

As long as the sponsors stay and the revenue remains I wouldn't think much would change. If say a Fed Ex came to Snyder and said change the name or we're tearing up the contract on paying for the naming rights he'd consider the name change.UtahRatt wrote:I'll read it later but,johnk5150 wrote:http://m.washingtonpost.com/local/us-pa ... story.html

Jamrcaus was a 1st overall pick who got drafted because he killed Notre Dame's pathetic defense in a bowl game. Teddy is a late 1st round pick who fell because of pre draft workout. With the the exception they're black, what are the similarities here?Mongo wrote:Machado wrote:Matt Cassel, Teddy Bridgewater and Christian Ponder

Patriots still paying the murderer?
BOSTON – A lawyer for the families of two men allegedly gunned down by former Patriots star Aaron Hernandez will ask a judge to bar the Patriots from paying Hernandez a $3.2 million bonus.
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/07/02/la ... p=obinsite
A court hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
Hernandez is accused of fatally shooting Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado in 2012, weeks before he signed a 5-year, $40 million contract. Prosecutors say Hernandez shot them after one of the men accidentally spilled his drink on Hernandez at a nightclub.
Attorney William Kennedy said the Patriots have challenged Hernandez's right to receive the bonus, but he wants a court order should the team be ordered to pay Hernandez in an arbitration hearing.
The team released Hernandez after his arrest in the 2013 death of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd.

Re: The NFL Thread
Hey Levi did ya hear about this genius?
"We’re all entitled to express our opinions about the Washington Redskins name controversy, but if you’re a wanted fugitive, you’d be wise not to put your name and photograph in the newspaper when you speak out on the issue.
That’s a lesson that a former fugitive named Jake Close learned the hard way.
When Close was approached by the Press Enterprise in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, for his opinion about the Redskins’ name, he readily offered it. He also allowed his own name to be printed, and allowed the paper to take his picture.
“I think they should keep the same name, but change the mascot to a potato,” Close said.
That was clever, but it wasn’t too clever for Close to give his name and picture to the paper when he was wanted in New York for jumping bail on a drug and drunken-driving case. He was captured when a police officer saw his name and picture in the paper.
Close was sent to jail on $25,000 bail, pending extradition to New York".

Stupid Redskins fans and law enforcement don't mix.
I remember decades ago, the DC Police rounded up about 50 fugitives by sending them a "You've won a free trip to see the Redskins play in the Super Bowl!" notice. They all showed up and were promptly arrested.

What's going on with the name, anything new? What's it look like?
I've always had a soft spot for the Redskins. Remember all the old players, Darrell "I ran Tony the fuck down" Green was one of my favorites but if they change the name I for one will write them off and hope they finish last every year. Looks like I'm down to the Eagles. Liked them in the 70/80's, Vick is gone so I guess it's time to have one East team to root for.
Well, the Eagles and the Giant's. I could start giving the Giants a break, The Giants did win me a lot of money destroying Denver.
Time for Dallas Cowgirls and the Washington chicken feathers to hit bottom. Fuck the history, fuck the idea of it all and fuck them.

I'm Pulling for Bridgewater, if he's not a total idiot given the Vikings he'll probably get a shot before Thanksgiving. Hell I'd like to see him start out of camp but I don't think he has the fire or character for it.

Ron Jaworski ranks Matt Cassel as NFL's worst starting QB.
Which brings us to Matt Cassel, the Vikings' veteran quarterback, who will battle Teddy Bridgewater for the starting gig. And according to ESPN's Ron Jaworski, who is unveiling his annual QB rankings, Bridgewater may not have much to worry about.
"My 32nd rated quarterback entering the 2014 season is Matt Cassel,” Jaworski said on ESPN (via PFT).
To be clear: Jaws considers Cassel the NFL's worst starting quarterback. (If it's any consolation, Matt, you'd almost certainly be ranked ahead of Christian Ponder and Brandon Weeden, if, of course, they hadn't been demoted.)
