The new Robocop - 8. Way better than I thought it was going to be. Not a patch on the original though.

Close Encounters of the 3rd kind - 5. Kind of boring and annoying.

Goldfinger - 9. One of the best Bond films.

DSAB wrote:North Dallas Forty - there's not enough stars I can give this one. Nick Nolte's best performance maybe. And I was totally unfamiliar with Mac Davis, but this makes me want to check out more. Even as old as it is, it's still very funny. And to American football fans, I'd reckon relevant.
I love this movie as well. It's one of those hidden gems you catch on cable in the middle of the night and can't believe you've never heard of it. \\

Criminal Law (1989) 2/10 shitty thriller film starring Gary Oldman and Kevin Bacon, Oldman plays an American attorney who is the defense counsel for serial killer Bacon. This is easily Gary Oldman's worst movie. Stupid plot, bad acting, and boring

8 Million Ways To Die (1985) 7/10 Jeff Bridges plays an alcoholic cop after the drug dealer murderer (Andy Garcia) of a prostitute. One of the most authentic acting jobs about alcoholism I've ever seen.

The Darjeeling Limited (2000s?) 1/10 I could only get through 30 minutes before I had to shut off this piece of shit. Insipid juvenile twee horse manure. The kind of movie TenBenny thinks is brilliant.

Another thumb up for "Chef" here. 9/10 for me, too.

Favreau has written and directed a terrifically funny and heartfelt movie, one that I agree will be discovered by a lot more people over the years. The whole cast is great, and the dialogue and interactions come across as very naturalistic. The story seems like it's a deeply personal one, and I'm sure Favreau relished the chance to get back to filmmaking on a smaller scale.

A Million Ways to Die In The West - Gave me a few chuckles but haven't thought about it since watching it. My rating   8) :| .

300 Rise of an Empire - I kept expecting it go somewhere and do something like 300. Instead it's a pointless movie that does absolutely nothing to further the story we saw in 300. I give this one     :| .

Animal House - 10/10. Even with the commercials and the inane censorship - the word retard was silenced - it's still one of the best comedies ever.

Elysium - 4/10
The problem with science fiction is that you must live within the made up space you have created. Unfortunately, this movie zigs and zags and often forgets the rules it lays out earlier in the movie.
It's hard for me to get used to these changing times. I can remember when the air was clean and sex was dirty.

"Jersey Boys" - 7/10

Good, but not great. The cast is great, and those songs are sung wonderfully. The drama was probably fleshed out a lot from the musical. Eastwood made more of a drama with music than a musical, but it works for the most part.

Transformers - 5/10. If you really have low expectations and loved Pacific Rim "because it's not supposed to be good, it's just about giant robots fighting" you might find this acceptable popcorn blockbuster movie fare. They cast Mark Wahlberg as the "so brilliant I'm scatterbrained and my daughter has to balance our checkbook" scientist. 'Nuff said. I actually mildly liked the first one, so there's that.

Everything or Nothing - 8.5/10. One of the best documentaries on the Bond movies that I have seen. Very nicely done and gave a good picture of the families behind the franchise. Pierce, Timothy, Roger, George and Craig all participated. I ended up liking George Lazenby! Really cool if you're a Bond fan. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2366308/?ref_=nv_sr_1

In a World... - 8/10. Really nice indie flick made by Lake Bell, set in the world of voice-over acting. It's a straight forward story with touches of humor and man - a lot of her friends from Children's Hospital did her solids by appearing in this well done little movie. Winner for Best Screenplay at Sundance. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2294677/?ref_=fn_al_tt_9

High Road (2011) - 4/10. Improvised comedy about, naturally, a bunch of pretty random shit. Good cast, though.

Love For Rent (2005) - 4/10. Romantic comedy saved from totally sucking by Ken Marino.

Very good war film. Might have run a little long but the action made up for that easily. Nice to see Tom Sizemore in a big budget movie.

Jersey Boys - 7/10.

Would be better if they found a different guy to play Frankie Valli, cause the actor who portrayed him sounded nothing like Frankie. He got the high pitched part down, now if only he could sing.
