Looks he'll get to play 4-8 games at best. Dumbass. I have no problem with marijuana, but if you know you're being tested for it why the hell would you be hanging with stoners??? And then the DUI. I have no sympathy for the guy. In my line of work, I'd have already been terminated, and I make tens of dollars while he makes tons of dollars.

I'd be fired as well, can't even be a felon at my shit job.
The fact NFL players can get away with anything just because they can run fast is a joke. They should be held to higher standards, not lower.

The NFL standards equal picking up illegal day laborers off the corner.

Agreed and I'm a pretty liberal thinker. If you wanna drink, DRINK! Just don't drive. If you wanna smoke, SMOKE, unless you work somewhere that is going to test ya. DUH! Not to mention the wife beaters, murderers, rapists, and general thugs that the NFL seems to cater to.

Come on Man it doesn't take an expert to know ELR's right. It's okay, every team goes through a "they really suck" phase. Stay positive an all but let's be realistic for some reason they've been doing everything possible in recent years to tear the team down.

Dan Patrick reported today that CBS is sending their number one broadcast team to the Browns Steelers season opener. I really can't believe how much the US is tuning into "Johnny Football."

This is like Tim Tebow all over again.
The media(CBS) is going to build the kid up. Salivate over every completed pass & scoring drive, then destroy the kid when he loses his starting job, can't win any games and is eventually traded from the Browns to an obscure team, in Canada

Yeah, I'm as big a Browns fan as you'll find but the fact that CBS has chosen to show the Browns and Steelers on 189 of their 205 affiliates over the other slate. Granted, most of the marquee games for week one were already swallowed up for prime time, but still.

Preseason week 1 does anyone have any idea how the Lions did other then that they won? Levi and his Redskins will do about 60 seconds better this week since reporters are required to talk about RGIII for a minute.

Peyton Manning could have a career ending injury this season and still be fighting for air time with Johnny Cleveland.

Don't see why everyone resents the hype. This is what people want to hear about now, and it's still preseason so it's not like there's really anything else to make hay of.

In the end Johnny will sink or swim by his talents just like Tebow did. No use getting your panties in a bunch. If you really can't stand it just get rid of cable like I did.

The only thing Blake Bortles can learn from Chad Henne by sitting on the bench this year is how to suck.

Carolina will go from first place in division to last place.

I see Johnny won't get to start this next pre-season game.

Coach says it had nothing to do with him being late for a meeting earlier this week, yea right it's only a short matter of time before he's named the starter.

Johnny is getting first team reps though. I'd bet the farm he gets the nod. It will be too high profile of a QB controversy to have Hoyer not winning games when you could have Manziel not winning games. Just like the situation in Jax. Difference is, the Browns have a great defense, a running back, an O-line. If they keep a coach and find a QB, they are finally ready to go somewhere.

As long as he does well on Monday, then Hoyer should be named the starter for the opener. I've been to many of the training camp practices and Hoyer has done much better than Manziel on nearly every day. Yesterday, Hoyer was on fire.

Pettine wants to decide on a QB on Tuesday so unless Hoyer goes to hell on Monday, I would say it's him. Which I am fine with. Manziel is 21 and he only had two years of college ball. Nothing wrong with sitting him, barring injury.

I'm gunning for Hoyer to have a great year! I just fear there will be pressure on Pettine from a meddling owner.
What's the vibe up there? The Browns have really lost their foothold on media coverage South of I-70 but that's what 12 years without a playoff spot and only one winning season in the interim when The Bungles have 5 playoff appearances in that same span. Never mind the fact that Marvin Lewis has lost everyone of those games and has a .500 career record if you include those playoff games, lol. Back in the 80s and 90s The Browns dominated the airwaves and print all the way down to the river. Now, not as much...

Let me get some opinions on this. Most of us don't really care for preseason games but I thought of something that might make it interesting.

Instead of playing the preseason games at the team's home fields, what about doing them at a neighboring city that doesn't have an NFL team and using a college facility. For instance, the Cincinnati Bengals hold one of their games in Lexington, Ky at Commonwealth Stadium. They could have one in Columbus at Ohio State.

Thoughts?

I understand that the Oklahoma City Thunder has preseason games in Tulsa but I think that they play in a building owned by the same people.

Otherwise I think in order for it to work it would have to be half way across the state. I'm sure there are plenty of people driving an hour or more to watch preseason games same as there are people who do it to see concerts.

The NFL charges regular season prices for these things. The only reason anyone shows up is because season ticket owners are forced to buy them.

My brother in law was a Ravens season ticket holder for a while.

The preseason games actually came with an envelope you could stick those preseason tickets in to send to a charity (send inner city kids to a free preseason game!). At least they made it easy - lots of people do this for the tax write off rather than attend horrible preseason games.

You are not a businessman :)
No chance the owners would go for this idea. They would be losing money hand over fist.
The most violent professional sport refusing to cut back on the number of games played.
Ask any NFL vet and they will mostly agree that 2 pre-season games is plenty to prepare for the regular season.
The 1st preseason game is a joke.
The final preseason game is a joke.

Only a handful of teams are not obligated to play 10 games per year in their home stadium (two preseason, eight regular season.) So while you may have had a good thought, it cannot and will not ever happen.

Not too mention that most college programs don't want to hand over their stadium for anything else. It takes an act of God to access Ohio Stadium, home of the Buckeyes, and it HAS TO BE something during the offseason. A preseason game at Ohio Stadium by the Browns or the Bengals is never, ever going to happen. The NBA comparison is kinda apples to oranges as well. The NFL doesn't need any help broadening its fanbase. For the NBA, I'll use the Cavs because that's my Ohio team, a preseason game in Cincy, Pittsburgh, and Columbus does help because those are markets where the NBA is lukewarm.

Well god bless him. If not for Johnny Football all of the stories would be about how 3 seasons in RG3 STILL has no idea to slide. It's only slightly less painful watching him try to slide than it is watching him taking hits. In a preseason game.

Good to see that Machado's retardation is already in midseason form.

We should sit him for the rest of the preseason, he's already warmed up. No need to risk injury.
