That play is IMO on the level of Willie Mays' basket catch.Machado wrote:http://youtu.be/ApoJk9X7Vto

Unfuckingbelievable. The West Coast Yankees sign Rays' GM Andrew Friedman to be the president. Imagine how NYY would look ( resources, etc. ) if they had a GM that was at least semi-competent, you have LA now. Jeezus.
Dbacks hire ( popular ) Chip Hale as new manager.
NY Mets are talking about moving in the fences again. That has a negative effect, idiots.
SF beats St. Louis in extras to take a 2-1 series lead. I was kinda feeling like the game 3 winner goes all the way.

Unreal. What will Buck do next?killeverything wrote:KC extends lead to 3-0 with 2-1 win over O's.
Are the O's feeling the loss of Davis to his PED suspension
Maybe other members of the team were doing the same or similar and had
to stop abruptly before the playoffs. Thus not able to play at a high level anymore.
Who knows, but it is fun to see Showalter lose the big game.

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
They're not coming back from that. Regardless if some '04 Sox guys say they're good enough. Showalter seems to think if they win one they'll fuel their momentum. I don't see it. Pitching/defense/pitching/defense, Baltimore doesn't have enough.Machado wrote:Unreal. What will Buck do next?killeverything wrote:KC extends lead to 3-0 with 2-1 win over O's.

The Cardinals, Giants, and Royals are scrappy as hell. It should be a great WS. Like go down to the last out, extra innings every game good.
The 2nd WC was great this year. I still believe the DS should go back to a seven game series though. We're seeing 95 win teams lose in 3. That's fucking stupid.
Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
I agree, the DS series should be 7 games instead of 5.killeverything wrote:They're not coming back from that. Regardless if some '04 Sox guys say they're good enough. But then MLB will say the playoffs have to extend through Nov.
Which is ridiculous. No reason for baseball to be played in Nov
Start the reg season a week earlier to allow for a 7 game DS in each league

Well, KC has shown one thing, and that's the old "Just get in" mentality. 88 wins in the regular season and just fucking going for it in these short series with the deep bullpen and the one-run wins.

Royals Roll Into Fall Classic! I wonder what the odds were in the beginning. I don't think they'll beat SF but I'd love to see it.

It's certainly possible and really no one would be too pissed if they did. I just think it could be like a Rockies in '07 situation. I don't care how hot you are, vets who have been there more than once against a bunch of kids?UtahRatt wrote:Royals Roll Into Fall Classic! I wonder what the odds were in the beginning. Just a gut feeling. Fuck, who knows? KC could sweep and the Cards could come back.

Texas hires Pirates bench coach Jeff Bannister as manager.
Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
The Texas Rangers hired Jeff Banister to become their next manager, a source confirmed to ESPN.com.
Banister spent 29 seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization and the last five as their bench coach.
Were any minority candidates interviewed for the job opening?

May the best Wild Card team win. Go KC.

No excuses can be made. We were out played, out pitched, and WAY out managed. Go KC.

best thing for MLB is AA Royals winning
Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"

I've got the Giants in 5, but KC winning would be pretty cool.

Kill-Do you think this will be a low scoring series?killeverything wrote:I've got the Giants in 5, but KC winning would be pretty cool.
I think it will be a little more wide open. Hard to imagine the scores will be 6 runs or less. I think KC has some hitters that can put runs on the board. Their bats are much hotter compared to St. Louis.
Giants in 6

I think maybe one game could be a blowout. Righetti almost always has SF's pitching untouchable and Shields + KC's bullpen is vicious.Machado wrote:Kill-Do you think this will be a low scoring series?killeverything wrote:I've got the Giants in 5, but KC winning would be pretty cool.

I expect a few KC homeruns, but I really think it will be low scoring for the most part.
Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Same, Giants in 5 but not counting on KC to fall over an play dead either. Hoping for KC to scrap it out and make things interesting. A part of me feels they could pull off the upset.killeverything wrote:I've got the Giants in 5, but KC winning would be pretty cool.

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Games 1 & 2 starters have been announced.
Bumgarner @ Shields
Peavy @ Ventura
Bumgarner wasn't on the postseason roster in 2012. This time he's the team ace with the absence of Matt Cain. This leads to the question is the Giants coaching staff one of the greatest of all time?
Former O's 2B Brian Roberts to retire.

Whoops. My bad. I meant to say 21 year old Bumgarner was moved into 2010 ace Lincecum's postseason spot when he went to the bullpen. Hur durr.MurrayFiend wrote:Uh, what? He started a game in each series they played in '12:killeverything wrote:Bumgarner wasn't on the postseason roster in 2012.

Actually it wasn't only Bumgarner, Petit stepped up too while Lincecum became a great innings eating setup man. How well that team is managed blows my mind.

Chris Young of the Seattle Mariners and Casey Mcgeehee of the Florida Marlins are the comeback players of the year.
Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
10 years ago today the Red Sox won game 7 in The Bronx to complete a comeback down
3-0 vs Yankees
I remember watching the game at a friends house & being in shock. Probably still not over
losing that series because Yankees more than likely would have gone on to win the WS
that season.
Kill-Can you name the 2 players from the Sox roster who were playing baseball in 2014???

David Ortiz. Anyone else is retired, or should be. A AAA type. The 2004 team and what they did was incredible. ( the answer to your question is Dave Roberts ). That was unreal.Machado wrote:10 years ago today the Red Sox won game 7 in The Bronx to complete a comeback down

Yst baseball has given us a new series. I still have SF in 5, but who knows? I'm back home in SF right now, so my points might be biased. I still have the Giants winning the whole thing. Regardless.
I wonder what JakeYonkel thinks. He is so much better at this than I am.

KC ties it up with a Jake Peavy start, Brandon Crawford error, and Hunter Strickland acting like a bitch. Watch Lincecum be the go to guy again
Oh well at least it's a series. Still got SF in 5.
