:D  :D  :D  = IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo suffered two fractured transverse process in his back in the loss to the Washington Redskins, but there remains a chance he could play Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, according to multiple sources.

The Cowboys and Romo have stressed this is not related to the disk surgery he had last December and is not a threat to end his season. Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty suffered a similar injury this season and missed just one game.

Tony Romo's latest injury is not related to the disk surgery he had last December and is not a threat to end his season.
ESPN's Ed Werder reported Romo would either start or be inactive against the Cardinals. He did not practice all week and is officially listed as questionable.

The transverse process is a small bone that sticks out from either side of the vertebrae. Romo has been receiving multiple hours of treatment all week at the Cowboys' facility and at home.

Romo suffered the injury when he took a knee from Redskins linebacker Keenan Robinson on a third-quarter sack last Monday night. After taking X-rays, which were negative, and receiving a pain-killing injection, Romo returned for the Cowboys' final two drives of the game. He had a CT scan Tuesday.

Brandon Weeden would start against the Cardinals if Romo cannot play. Weeden took all of the first-team snaps during the week with Romo unable to practice.

The Cowboys travel to London on Monday for their Nov. 9 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. With a long flight and an achy back from two back surgeries in less than a year, Romo's practice schedule likely will be monitored leading up to that game whether Romo plays Sunday or not.

If he cannot play against Arizona, then this would be the fourth time in the last seven seasons Romo has missed a game because of an injury. He missed three games in 2008 with a broken pinkie finger. He missed the final 10 games of the 2010 season with a broken collarbone and did not play in last year's season finale because of back surgery.

Weeden performed well in Romo's absence against Washington, completing 4-of-6 passes for 69 yards and a 25-yard touchdown pass to Jason Witten. He started 20 games in two seasons with the Cleveland Browns, posting a 5-15 record.

"I feel ready. I'm confident," Weeden said. "The uncertainty is the only thing. What's the word? We going to do this? That will come but I just have to prepare like I'm going to play and expect the unexpected."

With Romo unable to take part in the offseason program, limited during training camp and not practicing on Wednesdays since Week 2, Weeden has received more work with the first-team offense than most backup quarterbacks.

Undrafted rookie Dustin Vaughan would serve as the Cowboys backup quarterback. He has been inactive the first eight games of the season.

Information from ESPN's Ed Werder was used in this report.

Machado-

Are you excited about the dawn of the Brandon Weedon era?

Do you think it's possible you got the wrong Browns QB? I hear Colt McCoy was available.

Levi,
Not excited at all. Expected a lot more from Weeden.
Arizona is the best team in NFC & best team Dallas has played to date.
Weeded was baffled His passes were erratic. The completed passes at end of game do not mean much.
Still no reason to panic. Just 1 game.

Back to RG3-dude lost again today. Ouch!!!

Have to be honest I have barely seen him play in the NFL.
Weeden has taken a lot of reps with Dallas and was considered the most prepared #2 QB in the league. The guy was totally off with his throws. He made the mistake of locking in on Bryant.
Weeden missed some open receivers as well. Just a bad game at the QB postion.

Aikman said Weeden was probably the most prepared #2 QB in the league. Nobody outside of that said shit..

What's great is all those fucking Cowboys fans are gonna get their wish.. No Romo possibly next week either.. There will be a lot more appreciation for Romo when he is back.. NOT SAYING he is on par, or EVEN CLOSE to the Mannings and Brady's of the NFL..

But.. He is hands down better than the deer in the headlights Weeden's of the league..

I still think Dallas should start Weeden in London.. It would give Romo more time to heal and get back to always being the fucking blame (90% not deserved) for when this average team loses.

l actually think they held Romo out because they were playing Arizona. It was going to be a hard game anyway against a hard defense. Give Romo the extra time to really heal and they can say "If we had Tony..."

I heard Romo plans to fly with the team to London tomorrow. Which does not guarantee
he will play vs Jax. I really do not think a flight to and from London will hurt this back any.
If Romo does not play vs Jax he will have almost 1 month off before the next schedule game.
Seems like the right decision. Give him as much rest as possible to help the back heal and be 100%

Well, my Browns limped across the finish line with another not so impressive win. I had a fun time at the stadium for sure, but if the Browns were playing anybody else they would've gotten destroyed. I'm thankful the D stepped up and that Tampa continually shot themselves in the foot.

The real test is going to be Cincinnati on Thursday. If we can't get a quick turnaround on the run game or the middle of the Online, it is going to be a train wreck. If we pull the game off, who knows what could happen as the division is up for grabs.

Either way, I'll keep taking the wins any way I can get them, I just wish they were convincing.

•How about those 4-4 Niners! Kapper 3 fumbles, Ram's 8 SACKS! Was looking for the 49ers to make a wildcard run but this loss might have sealed their fate in that division.

•Pat's beating up the Donkey's! So much for that hard stretch..So far.

•Philly's Steak and Burrito Sanchez made Weeden look like he's still in Cleveland.

• KC 5 wins out of their last 6......Chargers lose 3 in a row, shuffle board.

• 0-8 Raiders 24 Seahawks 30

• Roethlisberger, 12TD's 862yds in the last two games.

•AFC EAST
............... W L T
Cincinnati - 5 2 1
Pittsburgh - 6 3 0
Cleveland - 5 3 0
Baltimore - 5 4 0

•Dolphins 5-3? Blanked the Chargers 37-0! Rivers 3INT's 1FUM.

My Steelers are looking great. I wasn't even expecting a playoff run but now with the way things look I think they could be a SB contender.

Other thoughts: Philly fans have got to be depressed right now, the Eagles haven't said so yet but I'd be willing to bet Foles is done for the remainder of the season with his broken collarbone.

WTF happened to Rivers and the Chargers?

Seeing as how I don't care one way or the other about the 49ers but I'm not a fan of the coach it's going to be fun watching them implode the rest of the way.

How much longer does Washington put up with their QB play?

I'm not ready to think RG3 is a bust but he's getting close to it.

Reminds me of another college QB from TX who also won the rookie of the year a few years ago and is now out of the league maybe RG3 should get some tips from Vince Young on what not to do.

I wouldn't think it would be a dumb idea if they used another 1st round pick on a QB whenever that might be I don't remember when they get one after the deal they had with the Rams.

Yeah it's gotta be close to giving up on bob time.

It's not all on him but he never plays well enough to grab victory by the balls anymore. His legs look like jello. The o-line ain't great but it always looks so much worse with griffin back there. Cousins and McCoy aren't taking consecutive sacks like that.

But that's why you play him the rest of the season. I'd hope that's enough film to make a call. And yes they have a first rounder his season, which looks to be another pretty high one.

Season ain't a complete bust. Gotta love starting the 6-1 cowboys slide to 8-8.

Washington Redskins Countersuing Native Americans Offended by the Name

A federal judge seems to think Native Americans offended by the Washington Redskins team name are properly being sued by the NFL franchise.

Judge Gerald Bruce Lee suggested during a hearing Friday that it would be unprecedented to dismiss the team's lawsuit against five Native Americans who complained about the name to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

A trademark office board decided in June to cancel some of the Redskins' trademarks, citing federal regulations against protecting words and images that are disparaging or offensive.

The team could have challenged the ruling in appellate court in Washington, but sought help instead in a venue that gives it more options, by going to a trial court to sue the Native Americans who complained in the first place.

The team has used the Redskins name since 1933 and has asked the judge to reverse the trademark board's removal of protections of six trademarks the team registered between 1967 and 1990. The team argues that the name is not offensive, and that canceling its trademarks would violate its free speech rights and take its property without compensation.

A lawyer for the Native Americans, Jesse Witten, argued that his clients should be left out of the dispute and that the lawsuit against them should be dismissed. But team attorney Robert Raskopf said Amanda Blackhorse and the other defendants belong in court because they're the ones who filed the petition.

The judge seemed to agree and said he would issue a written ruling at a later date.

The team's trademark protection remains in place while the issue makes its way through the court system, and the trademark board's ruling does not apply to the team's current logo, which includes an American Indian head in profile.

Activists have demanded for decades that the Redskins change their name, but the "Change the Mascot" campaign has heated up this election year. Politicians have weighed in on both sides, and the Oneida Indian Nation in New York is bankrolling a P.R. campaign, including radio ads that are playing in Minnesota this weekend before the team's game against the Vikings.

Team owner Dan Snyder says he'll never change the name. Just losing trademark protections under the current ruling could cost the team tens of millions of dollars per year.

Sanchez looked surprisingly OK after relieving Foles. First pass he threw was a 54 yard TD and he had another nice score later. His two picks were not his fault. I know he's another butt fumble away from being laughed out of town but I always thought his struggles were as much a part of being on the Jets as his own making. He didn't throw any interceptions off his back foot which is a plus. I think losing DeMeco Ryans on the defensive side of the ball will hurt them a lot more than Foles honestly.

I hear ya. And it's mainly been the offense that has been hot and cold. The defense has ran out of steam sometimes when the offense hasn't been able to put a drive together to give them a breather. The o-line is much improved on last year, which has helped the run game and Tanny to stay upright. That said, Tannehill and his receivers have had some shocking games where they've been awful. Tannehills highs have been higher than he's ever been, but his inconsistency has hurt big-time.

Will Sanchez come to the rescue or will he play so poorly that Eagles

I want the Steeler's to do it. Ben is still Ben and on fucking fire right now. Le'Veon Bell is one of my favorite/best backs in the game. If they fall short it will be because of their defense. They have a favorable schedule and playing Cincy twice in Dec could help drive home the division with help from the Ravens

The Chargers cant run the ball.....At all! Everyone is dropping back or coming after Rivers. He can't carry the team so I'm not sure what they can do. They'll come off the bye then beat Oakland to keep it interesting but they better have it worked out after that.

Philly: That fucking hurts. Burrito might be able to win a couple games but the only way the Eagles make it is if they can keep running. Now teams will probably load the box. Philly switched from Vick to Foles on the fly and Sanchez has it better with the Eagles then the Jets so who knows.
Philly is lot better team without Foles then Dallas is without Homo that's for sure. I'm betting Philly is half the team with Sanchez and Dallas will drop a few stupid games too keep the East an interestingly goofy race.

If Romo comes back and Foles is done it looks like Dallas just might get that ONE and OUT in the Playoffs at 8-8.

RGIII days are numbered. Flash in the pan.
He'll never be a field general and with mobility issues he's useless. Make any O-Line excuse they want, with his weapons he should be able to do more then suck.
The Panthers probably have the same O-line but I bet Cambow Newton would love to be with the Skins, he's the only player on left in Carolina which makes him pretty ordinary and has been for a couple seasons. Now that the Panther's D is under par that team is hurting.

What's the odds of Jim Harbaugh making it a few more weeks if they lose another game or two? If they drop to the Saint's and the Giant's I wonder if he'll be home for Thanksgiving.
I don't blame Kapper so much, he don't have receivers and from what I've seen the play calling sucks. I looked it up, the Niner's play calling... 265 pass, 231 RUN and 50 of those was Kapper running......Giving Gore 14 a game isn't gonna do it. I place all the Niner's woes on Harbaugh.
