I'm officially on the Jay Gruden bandwagon. I love that he had the stones to come out and just tell it like it is about his "franchise" quarterback. He didn't pull punches and it was refreshing to see a coach tell it like it is and not use the same old coach speak.

No link? No show times? Was it on inside the NFL?

Gruden will get chewed up and spit out just like every other Snyder coach. He can tell it like it is all he wants but it won't be long before Snyder and Allen are in his office, waving his contract in his face, and telling him he's gotta start who they want him to start, or hire whatever play caller they want him to hire etc.

And then he'll leave and succeed somewhere else just like Marty, Norv, or Kyle Shanahan.

Like most Skins fans I'm pretty bereft of optimism these days.

http://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/11/robert- ... kins-drama

Two magic phrases in front of the microphone, then you walk away. Griffin could still handle his business within the locker room. He could speak out and hold his teammates accountable internally. Instead, he made the decision to spread blame for the team’s troubles.

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden made a decision, too.

When Gruden stepped to the podium on Monday, he decided to pull back the curtain on Griffin entirely.

“Robert had some fundamental flaws,” Gruden said. “His footwork was below average. He took three-step drops when he should have taken five. He took a one-step drop when he should have taken three, on a couple occasions, and that can’t happen. He stepped up when he didn’t have to step up and stepped into pressure. He read the wrong side of the field a couple times. So from his basic performance just critiquing Robert it was not even close to being good enough to what we expect from the quarterback position.”

It might be the most honest thing said by a Washington head coach since mid-1980s Joe Gibbs.

Don't worry the draft is in like April so you'll be back to normal.

Hell if they beat the Cowboys again that'll cheer me up.

Or the Giants. Even if they manage to beat the fucking 3-7 Giants.

"It's his job to worry about his position, his footwork, his fundamentals, his reads, his progressions, his job at the quarterback position," Gruden said. "It's my job to worry about everybody else. And, yes, everybody else needs to improve. There's no question about it."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

So Jay Gruden says, RGIII you need to worry about yourself and only yourself.....But ya you're right, everybody else needs to improve, no question about it. So shut the fuck up but you're right.

Didn't take DeSean Jackson long too shoot his mouth off on Instagram with, "You can't do epic s--- with basic people."
Way to add fuel to the fire.

So RGIII and DeSean have twitter spat's then Jay holds a team meeting about not having social media arguments and lets keep this in the house......As Jay blows up the media telling his QB to shut the fuck up.

That team is full of PR brainiacs. They're all idiots.

Hasn't it been a great era watching all these teams drafting every running QB possible thinking they're the future of the NFL when it's still about being able to pass in the pocket. The day's of Dan Marino are gone!

Wait, maybe their not.

And has a worse passing game then the Raiders this year.

That Ring was given to him by a Monster Defense.

So does Steve Young. I think what UtahRatt was getting at is that there still needs to be great ability in the pocket. But you know that.

Nah, you just described Steve Young or John Elway.

Wilson is the first "running QB" to win a Super Bowl. He's not the first decent passing running QB (Vick comes to mind) but the first whose been able to stay healthy and be an all-around complete QB.

He's living proof that the old school (read: white) "pocket passer" isn't the only way to win a Super Bowl. The only reason Wilson is "picking apart" anybody from the pocket is because defenses respect his running ability. If he couldn't run he wouldn't have a ring and he might not have a starting job.

KamBow Newton?

Still didn't matter, Seattle's monster D got them to the SB and the ring not on Wilsons shoulders like Elway.

IMO Wilson is a running QB not even compared to Steve Young or Donovan mcnabb.

Wilson's playing well this season. The Hawks' Superbowl victory is about as clean as Barry Bonds' HR record.

Better to trade the #1 pick for future draft choices or draft a lineman or someone else that can help the team right away.

Now Machado is Mel Kiper.

All current 1st RD picks starting, 19 counting Palmer who got AZ all the wins. Looks like a pretty fucking good list of Division Leaders, Super Bowls and franchise QB's. Take away Brady and who's left out of the later round bunch of good QB's playing? ROMO?

Eli Manning
Peyton Manning
Philip Rivers
Ben Roethlisberger
Alex Smith
Arron Rodgers
Matt Ryan
Joe Flacco
Matthew Stafford
Cam Newton
Teddy Bridgewater
Jay Cutler
Mark Sanchez
Andrew Luck
Drew Brees drafted #32
Michael Vick
Carson Palmer
Ryan Tannehill
Blake Bortles

Andy Dalton Drafted #35 just missed
Look at you with a list of QB's. Very nicely done. Can you put together another list of 1st round busts that goes back about 10 years?
I'll wait.

Listen, I have a philosophy that drafting a QB in the 1st round is a risk. IMO, trading that pick for future picks is the better play.
Some may agree, some may disagree.
There is a lot of luck involved with drafting in general, but to put all your eggs in 1 basket for a player like Vince Young or J. Russell, etc...well that is just foolish.

IMO to say Wilson is a running qb is not accurate. I guess he may be the first true hybrid who is equally as good in the pocket as he is a pure runner.

Anybody who puts Kap in the same group as Wilson is stupid. Plain and simple.
Kap is barely an upgrade over RGIII

I saw the full 49er game this weekend and to say he is inconsistent is being nice. There is no telling if he will throw a strike to a WR or throw a 2 hopper.
I saw him twice miss a wide open receiver down the field because he failed to follow his progressions. Instead of hitting the wide open player, he threw elsewhere, into coverage and incomplete.

Anyway, Wilson is a premiere QB. Kap is nowhere near that level, but he seems to believe he is. A victim of his own very, very brief success last year.

Machoado you're an idiot. Yes, there are some first round quarterbacks that are busts. But for every Brady, Romo, or Wilson you have many more quality quarterbacks that are taken in the first round of the draft. You can't pass on a potential franchise qb just because there have been busts. Using your logic you would have passed on Andrew Luck and traded down.

same shit different day. everybody has an opinion but if the opinion is not the same as yours, there you are quickly to throw insults.

sure you can pass on a bust for the sake of the team.
do you think the Titans are upset they chose V. Young right now? do you think the Raiders feeling great about J. Russell right now?
decisions like that will set a franchise back for many years.

God damnit Machado Kiper....all of that word salad to come to the conclusion:

Sometimes trading up in the first round works, sometimes it doesn't.

Sometimes first rounders are busts, sometimes they aren't.

NO shit Sherlock. We already knew that. What's Your fucking point? The cowboys traded up to get Clairborne at #6 and so far he's a bust. Why aren't you fixated on that?

Why
He plays DB. Who gives a shit about the DB?
QB is the position of interest. So I read today your wonder boy, your savior is unable to take the proper amount of steps when dropping back to pass?
WTF!!!
When was the last time a NFL head coach undressed one of his own to the media?
That was nice to read. I bet you are wishing and begging that Shanahan was back on the team to correct this mess? No wait, Shanahan created the mess along with your owner a couple years ago.
LOL!!!

1st round risk? Wow, no one knew that....Every pick is a risk.......The risk gets higher the higher you go dipshit.
That list currently shows, the vast majority of starters, division leaders, playoffs teams, SB's and quality starters came from the 1st. For everyone Brady there's a dozen more from the first round.

And it shows you're a dipshit. But EVERYONE knows that.

God damn you are so frustratingly stupid. If you have a chance to take who is believed to have franchise quarterback potential you take him. You don't sit back because you're scare he may not pan out. It's time to fucking school you again moron.

Past Super Bowl winning quarterbacks
Russell Wilson 3rd round
Joe Flacco 1st round
Eli Manning 1st round
Aaron Rodgers 1st round
Drew Brees 2nd round
Ben Roethlisberger 1st round
Peyton Manning 1st round
Brad Johnson 9th round
Tom Brady 6th round
Trent Dilfer 1st round
John Elway 1st round
Brett Favre 2nd round
Troy Aikman 1st round
Steve Young 1st round (old supplemental draft)
Mark Rypien 6th round
Jeff Hostetler 3rd round
Joe Montana 3rd round
Doug Williams 1st round
Phil Simms 1st round
Jim McMahon 1st round
Jim Plunkett 1st round
Terry Bradshaw 1st round
Roger Staubach 10th round
Ken Stabler 2nd round
Bob Griese 1st round
Johnny Unitas 9th round
Len Dawson1st round
Joe Namath 1st round
Bart Starr 17th round

29 quarterbacks have won Super Bowls
17 were first round picks (would have been 18 but Staubach dropped due to his Navy commitments)

60% were first round picks

If you remove Montana and Brady quaterbacks drafted outside of the first round have not had much success winning Super Bowls.
