I'm officially on the Jay Gruden bandwagon. I love that he had the stones to come out and just tell it like it is about his "franchise" quarterback. He didn't pull punches and it was refreshing to see a coach tell it like it is and not use the same old coach speak.

Gruden will get chewed up and spit out just like every other Snyder coach. He can tell it like it is all he wants but it won't be long before Snyder and Allen are in his office, waving his contract in his face, and telling him he's gotta start who they want him to start, or hire whatever play caller they want him to hire etc.

And then he'll leave and succeed somewhere else just like Marty, Norv, or Kyle Shanahan.

Like most Skins fans I'm pretty bereft of optimism these days.

Two magic phrases in front of the microphone, then you walk away. Griffin could still handle his business within the locker room. He could speak out and hold his teammates accountable internally. Instead, he made the decision to spread blame for the team’s troubles.

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden made a decision, too.

When Gruden stepped to the podium on Monday, he decided to pull back the curtain on Griffin entirely.

“Robert had some fundamental flaws,” Gruden said. “His footwork was below average. He took three-step drops when he should have taken five. He took a one-step drop when he should have taken three, on a couple occasions, and that can’t happen. He stepped up when he didn’t have to step up and stepped into pressure. He read the wrong side of the field a couple times. So from his basic performance just critiquing Robert it was not even close to being good enough to what we expect from the quarterback position.”

It might be the most honest thing said by a Washington head coach since mid-1980s Joe Gibbs.

Listen, I have a philosophy that drafting a QB in the 1st round is a risk. IMO, trading that pick for future picks is the better play.
Some may agree, some may disagree.
There is a lot of luck involved with drafting in general, but to put all your eggs in 1 basket for a player like Vince Young or J. Russell, etc...well that is just foolish.

I saw the full 49er game this weekend and to say he is inconsistent is being nice. There is no telling if he will throw a strike to a WR or throw a 2 hopper.
I saw him twice miss a wide open receiver down the field because he failed to follow his progressions. Instead of hitting the wide open player, he threw elsewhere, into coverage and incomplete.

Anyway, Wilson is a premiere QB. Kap is nowhere near that level, but he seems to believe he is. A victim of his own very, very brief success last year.

That list currently shows, the vast majority of starters, division leaders, playoffs teams, SB's and quality starters came from the 1st. For everyone Brady there's a dozen more from the first round.
