Where did you hear this? I believe you, but I couldn't find anything about the Cubs pulling back on Lester. I'm hoping the Cubs get him...
Hardball Talk, mlbtraderumors, and I believe the "Cubs have pulled back" came from CSN Giants.

Come to think of it, it could just be a negotiating tactic. Like San Diego is set to make Pablo Sandoval an offer today. They're probably just doing it to drive up the price for SF.

The Rays have narrowed their managerial search to three canidates: Don Wakamatsu, Raul Ibanez ( yes, really ), and Kevin Cash.

Boston offers Panda 5/95, the Boston Globe believes that puts them in the lead over SF and SD with Toronto waivering.

Sandoval is expected to make a decision by Thanksgiving. The Giants are still in it, but hesitant to top Pence's 5/90 deal.

Victor Martinez resigned with Detroit. If they didn't give him the best deal ( and he wanted to stay ) he was going to Seattle. It actually came pretty close to happening, well closer than I or anyone I've heard expected.

Upton will cost too much and Hanley isn't worth it. Plus I think the NW would zap both of their power. Hanley especially.

I don't think Kemp goes anywhere either.

Since I only check MLB news weekly and I don't read all the posts the first thing I do is look for the date of the article and did I get that Victor post off by 10 days, derp.
--------------------------------------------------------

Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reports that the Padres kicked the tires on Jason Heyward before his trade to St. Louis and have checked in on the Dodgers’ Matt Kemp and the Reds’ Jay Bruce, among others.

Should any of these options develop into a bidding war, the Padres’ ability to go the distance with their competition remains to be seen.

But say this much for first-year general manager A.J. Preller: He appears to be leaving no stone unturned in his search for offense.

That much alone should appease Padres fans. At least for now.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Matt Kemp drawing significant trade interest, could make way for Joc Pederson

The Los Angeles Dodgers are drawing significant trade interest in outfielder Matt Kemp, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman. Originally, the report was that the Dodgers would much rather keep Kemp over Carl Crawford and Andre Ethier. However, the 30-year-old Kemp may be the most likely to be dealt away.

It seems as if the Seattle Mariners, Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles may get involved in the Kemp sweepstakes. Right now, the Orioles and Marines need right-handed power, which there is not much of in free agency. The Blue Jays have contacted the outfielder in the past and may be interested if they do not acquire Torii Hunter or Melky Cabrera.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kemp might end up staying in Dodger blue, one things for sure the brass has come out and said their looking to nip the high payroll and dump these high priced long term older players. Even if for they have to pay down some of $56 million remaining on Ethier's deal over the next three seasons.

Quote - "Though they won 94 games, the Dodgers have to know they need to change the clubhouse atmosphere"

So - LA knows they need to change the club house atmosphere and are stuck with Puig and Gonz? Hanley, Crawford? Kemp was a golden boy till he got hurt now management thinks by dumping him the house will improve.

With Kemp, Crawford, Puig and Ethier, LA's already made the call to bring up Joc.....Who's going to play the part time role, Crawford? Ethier again?

Then the Dodgers have 25 million 2B Alexander Guerrero and last years explosion 2B Dee Gordon....

LA is a cluster fuck.

They call them the "Paper Kings" for a reason and after Cherington fleeced them, they will be stuck like that for a while. Even if they brought in a small market President and GM.
 Silly Dodgers.

If they want to "change the atmosphere" it starts with Gonzalez. That guy is a phenomenal talent, but a complete cancer. Combine him with perennial teenager ( Puig ) and you have a bunch of fountain jumping assholes.

Agonz and Pennants go together like oil & water. Get rid of him or enjoy watching SF win...again.

San Diego is preparing to make a big offer to Panda. The only way I believe they can entice him is to blow everyone else away.

SF has stated they won't ( and shouldn't ) get into a bidding war for Sandoval. Enjoy Boston, Panda. I don't think he's worth it personally. Remember, while he was a huge reason they were there in the first place, Panda was left off the 2010 Postseason roster for being too fat.

Sentimental reasons aside it's time to cut your losses if he won't accept 5/90. The last of that deal he'll be struggling to hit above the Mendoza Line.

Dodgers acquired pitcher Mike Bolsinger from Arizona for cash consideration and hungry man TV dinner coupons.

Dodgers acquired - RHP Joel Peralta and LHP Adam Liberatore
Rays get - RHP Jose Dominguez and RHP Greg Harris.

Not sure how solid Peralta is but Dominguez is a 24yo 101mph flame thrower.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stuart Sternberg say's they're cutting payroll in Tampa.

Sternberg said the 2015 payroll is "clearly going to be lower" than this year's franchise-record $80 million, and he pointed out — albeit a small sample size — that they have had the most success when they have spent least.

"We've run payroll into the ($40 million range) and gotten into the World Series and well into the playoffs, and our two highest payrolls … the years we stepped it up (percentage-wise) were 2009 and 2014, and those are the only two years we haven't played significant September baseball," Sternberg said. "That doesn't mean you're not going to go at it again if you can, but we spent some money on a couple of big signings, for us at least. It still comes down to performance for all 30-35 guys at least."

Oakland acquire 1B Ike Davis and International Bonus slot #86 for International Bonus slot #27 from Pirates. Oakland DFA Andrew Brown to make room for the deal.

The rumor going round right now is Boston is in intense talks with Hanley Ramirez, with a possible offer coming soon. No shit? Is Sandoval off of the table?

There are now 6 teams in on Lester. Red Sox, Cubs, Braves, Cardinals, Blue Jays, and Royals. The MFY deny interest, but everyone is expecting them to jump in on it apparently.

Where does that leave Captain Run Support, Max Scherzer?

So they're going to hide his glove long enough for the move to DH.

Hanley playing left has been all talk but I'd love to see it.

I think it's hysterical. They are both stupid, stupid signings. This is 2011 all over again. I'm glad SF isn't tied down with Panda, he is on the decline.

I'm just wondering if Cherington pulls a Theo and blames these signings on Luchhino when they go south. Hanley on the DL, Panda likes to be loved and he'll hate it there when he hits .230 and the fanbase tear him apart. This is going to be funny.

They're still a small market team. They're just more popular with all the mouth breathers wearing "12" hoodies running around. They're fucking owned by Nintendo, they have money.

Seager's extension is market value so it's not an overpay.

Randy Levine repeated "thank God" three times when told of Stanton's deal since that means "True Yankee" Arod is no longer the highest paid player in the game. Sucker.

I find it humorous that now articles are referring to him as "the Clown Prince Of Baseball." Helluva a rep, Arod.

SF Giants have a record 388K World Series shares. Now with Pablo off the books, I think they go hard after Tomas.

The Dodgers acquired pitcher Juan Nicasio from the Colorado Rockies for a player to be named or cash, the team announced Monday, continuing a trend of stockpiling young, inexpensive pitchers who could compete this spring to be the team's fifth starter or an extra bullpen arm.

Many people wondered what the Dodgers' new front office would do in its first offseason, and it certainly appears new team president Andrew Friedman and general manager Farhan Zaidi won't spend money the way outgoing GM Ned Colletti did in his last few seasons on the job.

The Dodgers are looking to create payroll flexibility and are likely to trade one of their high-priced outfielders, likely either Andre Ethier or Carl Crawford, in an effort to get their payroll down from the $240 million they entered 2014 with.

The Dodgers are going to go hard after Hammels.

I'm not sure if LA is one of the 20 teams on his no trade list. Hammels will cost you 4/96 + some bigtime prospects. I don't believe the Dodgers have those kind of pieces to/or be willing to move. The Cubs covet Hammels over all else, but won't give up the pieces to get him.

Boston included a 6th year option for Kungfu Damon. I thought the deal was just stupid. Now I think it was full retard. Good for Sabean and SF for avoiding that one.

Red Sox just spent a lot of money to suck for 162 games. Hanley in LF will make Manny Ramirez look like Willie Mays
Then again how many games can Hanley actually play before breaking down? I can see him getting off to a nice start, unless he gets injured in ST.

Those signings don't look good, but both Hanley and Pablo's pull tendencies should work well with the Monster.

They are tied up 5-6 years for both ( I'm not sure of Ramirez's option ), I don't see either being worth what they paid. Plus both reportedly aren't team players. Sandoval has had to be pep talked more than once by his teammates to get his head in the game ( see: Pence, Hunter ).

Farrell runs a no nonsense clubhouse and Hanley was traded before because of his maturity issues. Add that to the rumors of the coaching staff having a problem with Cespedes. They're turning that team into a bigger bloated joke than the Yankees.

Like I said I think those signings are hysterical in the "if you're that stupid you deserve what you get" sense. SF has said they would have topped Boston's offer. I don't know if I believe that really. It's not Sabean's style and is probably just a PR move.

KC conductor honors bet and wears SF jersey for performance.

The conductor of the Kansas City Symphony honored a best from this past year’s MLB World Series, wearing a San Francisco Giants jersey during a performance.

It’s not just a Giants’ jersey. It’s a Hunter Pence jersey. That’s above and beyond, even for a World Series bet.

I don't get it. The 3 minor leaguers included better pan out Kendall Graveman, Sean Nolin, and SS Franklin Barreto. I was never too high on Lawrie and he's certainly no Donaldson.

According to Richard Griffin of the Toronto Star the prospects aren't rated too high. Graveman is projected as middle relief, Nolin has fallen down the depth chart, and Barreto a "hot shot" prospect not projected as a SS. Which, after the trade of Addison Russell the A's need.
