Cubs sign Jason Motte to a one year deal. I'm not sure the details, but it's a pretty high reward if that guy can regain some of his form from '12.

LAD signs Brett Anderson to a 1/10m deal with the potential to earn an extra 4m in incentives.

I know everyone's all talking about Chicago's ( both of them ) changes and they both look good, but Friedman is like a fat kid in the buffet line since he took that job. He's making the Dodgers scary for the long haul.
I don't know what to think of the Dodgers, it's been a fire sale with some risk for reward moves. If they contend for the division I'll be kind of shocked but I don't think they'll take the West. All I hope for is the Dodgers to find a defensive SS and a solid reliever and I think they'll have a chance.

I'm saying it now, Kemp is on the comeback trail and I bet he has a good year........And I hate trades in the division. I wished Andre Ethier left before Kemp but with Kemp's money...Fuck it, lets face it, money isn't the biggest problem.

LAD DFA Brian Wilson. I woulda took a flyer on that guy too. It's hard to come back from Tommy John, much less two though. I just got back from SF ( like 3 weeks ago :? ) and his "Fear The Beard" gear was still to be found. Weird to see him gone. I don't think it will be the same with Panda.

Red Sox acquire RHP Anthony Varvaro from Braves for MiLB RHP Aaron Kurcz and cash.

Mariners get ( I'm getting sick of using "acquire" ) OF Justin Ruggiano from Cubs for RHP prospect Matt Brazis.

The rumors circulating right now are that Matt Kemp failed his physical for the SD trade. Which is WHY LAD have been trying to trade him. Next time that yeahbuddy retard comes in here to beat off about Southern California, maybe he'll finally understand.

SF re-sign Sergio Romo to a 2/15m deal.

Continuing LA DFA Brian Wilson, Mike Krukow had this to say:

"I don't care. I don't care if he went 0-14 last year with an ERA in the 20s. They owed him nine-and-a-half million bucks. At the very least, you're gonna bring that guy back to see what he's got this year, to see if you can get anything out of your investment," Krukow told KNBR 680-AM on Wednesday morning.

"I was blown away they dumped him. So I don't think it had anything to do with how he's pitching. I think it had everything to do with what he was in the clubhouse. And that's why I was surprised with it. I know what Wilson is like in that clubhouse, especially to his teammates. He's a good teammate.

"And for the Dodgers to just dump him out that says they don't want him around. And I'd like to find out a little bit more as to why this has happened because it doesn't make sense based on what we've seen with Wilson in the clubhouse and how he is with his team."

Wilson spent his first seven big-league seasons with the Giants. From 2008 to 2011, he went 17-15 with a 3.00 ERA and compiled 163 saves, including a league-leading 48 in 2010.

He was named an All-Star three times, but Wilson appeared in just two games in 2012 before undergoing Tommy John surgery for the second time in his career.

He signed with the Dodgers as a free agent in December, 2012 and went 2-1 with a 0.66 ERA over 18 appearances during his first season in Los Angeles.

Last year, Wilson appeared in 61 contests, amassing a 2-4 record with a 4.66 ERA.

"What happened yesterday blew my mind," Krukow concluded.

In the same artice ( CSN Bay Area ) Zaidi stated it was not made out of a medical concern, it was a move made because of performance.

I could see someone taking a flyer on the guy. The bridge was burned with Sabean, because he went out guns blazing, but I think he could be effective used sparingly. Like a half year or something.

Supposedly ( I'm gettin' tired of that adjective too ) Maybe the KC Royals signed Edison Volquez to 2/20m deal. Maybe they didn't.

The big 3 team trade talked about for a few has finally happened ( depending on physicals ).

Padres get:
Wil Myers, OF (from TB)
Ryan Hanigan, C (from TB)
Gerardo Reyes, RHP (from TB)
Jose Castillo, LHP (from TB)

Rays get:
Steven Souza, OF (from WSH)
Rene Rivera, C (from SD)
Jake Bauers, 1B (from SD)
Burch Smith, RHP (from SD)
Travis Ott, LHP (from WSH)

Nationals get:
Joe Ross, RHP (from SD)
Player to be named (Trea Turner, SS) (from SD)

Dayum. Myers was always untouchable I thought. The new GM in San Diego ( AJ Preller ) is making things interesting.

*edit

Here's a couple fun stats I came across ( the first is remarkable ):

- Of his 34, 951 pitches Ichiro has seen in his career, only 25 came while he had a sub-.300 batting average.

- Babe Ruth is responsible for 1.07% ( 7 ) of Ty Cobb's 681 career K. Ruth even struck him out as a Yankee on June 13, 1921.

That is odd as fuck about Brian Wilson. I dug the dude, everyone seemed to like him and it makes no sense.

I said that Kemp would have a comeback year but I wasn't expecting a comeback to the Dodgers.
Actually I seen an indepth segment on Kemp's injury last year and they explained it as a never healing he'll have to adjust to it injury. I can't remember if it was his ankle or hammy but I'd like to know what injury they failed him for.

As stated, Wilson was cut for performance. After Tommy John your not guaranteed to return to form after one, but two? I imagine the success rate is even less.

Wilson was the Wilson of old when the Dodgers picked him up in the end of '13. Hence his 9.5 a year deal. In short bursts he's Rivera. Maybe he just needed a year to build strength, maybe he's done. I would risk it with guy. In fact that's Billy Beane's modus operandi.

I know he left SF fucking pissed, especially after 2010. He signed with the Dodgers and was especially stoked since he lives in LA. Them cutting him is probably really gonna piss him off. SF cut him for medical, LA is straight saying "he can't perform." If he don't hang up his spikes I think he wins Comeback Player Of The Year next season.

I never knew what happened to Kemp. When he injured his...leg? I remember it was always one side "rest and he'll return" and the other, which has grown louder of "he'll never be the same." Dodger or not the guy's a phenomenal talent. LA has been itching to get rid of him for a while ( see Wilson, Brian ) and the SD deal is coming to it's deadline and still not done. Maybe the leg? injury ended Kemp.

Royals just picked up Kris Medlen for 2 years and an option. Seems pretty low risk and high reward deal to me. Of course they're banking on alot of players having comeback years.

Send the Red Sox a message, they need to acquire an ace. Don't buy tickets when they go on sale, that should give them get the hint.

Any trade involving Cespedes should have brought them an Ace (especially to a Detroit a playoff contender with ace pitching) he was the best trading card in the deck. Now the lineup is weakened, for a for B- starter. They fucked up BigTime, and now fans gotta make em pay.

DONT BUY RED SOX TICKETS UNTIL THEY GET AN ACE PITCHING FOR THE STAFF

COMPARE--------------------------------------------------------------
David Ortz BA HR RBI
. 2014 263 35 104
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeaoni Cesoedes AVG HR RBI
2014 260 22 100 .
-----------------Cespedes traded for Porcello ???--------------------
Cespedse for Rock Pocello 15-13 .43. ERS ( 2014 best year o career - decent #3 type starter)
WTF, the Red Sox gave Detroit one a baseballs bast hitters, and also lost Jon Lester because of it ( he admitted being an another team already made leaving easier)

That worst to first shit ain't happening this year. And what ace is available, especially for Cespedes? Boston was always my AL team since I spent a lot of time there as a kid, but when they started trying to be the MFY I turned against them. This shit is delightful. Almost as much fun as watching NYY miss the Playoffs again.

A's trade C Derek Norris, RHP Seth Streich, and an international signing slot to San Diego for RHP Jesse Hahn and RJ Alvarez.

The Kemp to SD deal is done. There were some red flags on his physical that led SD to try to get more money from Magic Johnson. Magic didn't give them more money.

I'm excited to see SD this year. As it looks right now the Paper Kings will win the West, but the Padres are looking to surprise a lot of people. There have been so many moves the Hardball Times and Baseball Prospectus 2015 editions should be awesome.

I still think Brian can pitch.
Wilson had a good 13 but last year the entire bullpen had a bad season not just Brian. I watched a lot of games, his velocity was fine but playing behind probably the worst left side defense in baseball didn't help. Seriously, Hanley last season had a one step range, it was painful to watch.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've been busy and missed a lot of shit you probably posted but I'm a bit angry reading this shit.

The Dodgers picked up 36 year old Jimmy Rollins, not sure how much glove he's got left but it has to be a step up for someone who'll hit .250 at best. If he's got glove I'm fine.

But The Dodgers sent second baseman Dee Gordon, pitcher Dan Haren and Rojas to the Miami Marlins, and received left-hander Andrew Heaney, infielder Enrique Hernandez, reliever Chris Hatcher and minor leaguer Austin Barnes. Then dump Heaney for LAAAAA Howie Kendrick.
Are the Dodgers looking to put together the oldest infield in MLB?

One of the few Dodgers I liked Dee Gordon, they traded Dee Gordon. He finally grows up and explodes last year and they fucking trade him? Because they have Puigy banana boat buddy Alex Guerrero $28 million $5 Mill a year in the wings and Kendrick to hold it down.
Dee finally grew up out of nowhere and put in 92R, cooled off and hit .289 but lead baseball in steals, 64SB 19CS. why trade a dude just when he's hitting his stride coming into his prime at like $515,000?

Farhan Zaidi has demolished the roster, they've turned over half of the 40 man list already. I'll admit I don't know everyone that's coming in or the big picture but more and more I'm seeing the Dodgers destructing this season trying to find themselves.

Looks like it's time to find a back up team to root for. I still think the Fish will improve or hover but they wont finish last! At least Dee went to a team I like, GO FISH!

Everyone in the NL WEST got stronger while LA got weaker.

I wouldn't neccesarily say they got weaker, especially with that pitching staff. Zaidi is trying to change that clubhouse. There is some serious douchebaggery there with a bunch of players who have never won a pennant. If Agonz and Puig weren't so popular I bet they they would be gone too.

When Friedman and Zaidi tookover you had to know this would happen. Put a leader in that clubhouse and they'll be just as scary, unfortunately.

Padres and Boston are nearing a deal to send Wil Middlebrooks to SD for Ryan Hannigan.

SF re-sign Jake Peavy to 2/24m deal. I get Peavy works well with Bochy and was a great pitcher in SF everywhere but the WS, but I think 2 years might be too much.

Braves agree to send Justin Upton and a low level player to SD for LHP Max Fried, SS Jace Peterson, 3B Justin Peterson, and OF Mallex Smith.

MFY "on the verge" of trading of trading INF Martin Prado to Miami for P Nathan Eovaldi.

*edit

David Phelps NYY and Domingo German MIA also included.

Yes, it's the same Garrett Jones. He's average. Eovaldi is a hard thrower, and has quite a heater. Very inconsistent though. But he was one of those guys who didn't get much run support. I've heard a couple of things about German, like he's another Jose Fernandez.

Thank you. I guess Jones can back-up 1B, 3B or RF. That's some versatility right there. Tough to lose Prado because he has a lot of versatility as well, but maybe that LH stroke from Jones will make a difference this season.
And he already took to social media after the trade:

They finally released who Florida was receiving. MiLB RHP Luis Castillo and Kendry Flores.

I think McGee is pretty underwhelming. He's got a below average glove and was barely league average at the plate once. Sabean must see something.

I still think SF will look back on not re-signing Sandoval and having Headley re-sign with the MFY as a dodged bullet. This year's free agent class was pretty weak with the exception of Jon Lester.

Jon Dewan did an analysis for the downsides of the Padres new acquisitions. I'll post it later on or tomorrow.

Kill, McGehee was Comeback POTY last season. He was on FIRE the first half, cooled off after the ASB, but he still came up with lots of clutch hits. I watched him play almost every day, he has a good glove. But he has some HUGE shoes to fill in SF.
